:!: Entrepreneur alert: An Alexa deactivation device might be developed

The device should at least signal if voice monitoring is in use.

"Alexa is listening" ... always!

 Every nerd wannabe has another plan to test ...
Voice-activated devices might be attached to a Clapper* to shut off electricity
until you want Alexa, et al., to wake up and serve you privately.

Of course, Amazon, Google, et al., might disallow the product's warranty
if Alexa is aroused from a deep sleep too often. ;) And conspiracy neurons
are hinting that if Alexa's PTB protest a Clapper, it's not a technical issue
but the Clapper's control of Alexa's "always listening" intent.

Re: https://www.thenational.ae/uae/health/e ... s-1.851923

"When Munira Abdulla picked up her four-year-old son Omar from school and began the drive to their Al Ain home, she could not have known she wouldn't see him again for 27 years. Their vehicle collided with a school bus, leaving the 32-year-old with a traumatic brain injury. Omar - cradled by his mother before the impact - escaped with a bruise to the head. Ms Abdulla was left in a coma and doctors believed she would probably never open her eyes again. That was until last year, when she woke in a German hospital room."

 At first, the lesson seems obvious: don't lose hope (depending on the total medical situation), but knowing that it could take 27 years for recovery would make life support decisions difficult ... especially without certainty that recovery would occur so many years later. Factor in the medical costs for those 27 years and the early decisions can become sublime.

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/arti ... ivacy.html

"Genealogy websites should be BANNED because they 'threaten the anonymity of sperm donors', academic claims"

 How intriguing :!: ... that medical science today can identify "anonymous" fathers ... and that genealogy (via the internet) sometimes provides the roadmap for locating the father. A minority of anonymous fathers would be the ones who participated when a woman had multiple rendevous just before pregnancy, with the real father not being identified for various reasons. ;)

Also, with DNA cloning, a non-sperm-donor might some day be identified as the father.

 Gives new meaning to "identity theft insurance" (would provide funds for revealed fathers to use in their defense and for child support). Also, a new line of greeting cards can be marketed: "Surprise! You've been a father for decades!" And a national DNA database would make unknown fatherhood a thing of the past ... like the unknown birth.
