"I'm the doctor who invented the paleo diet — this is what I eat in a typical day"

"known as the caveman or stone-age diet - is about eating only foods similar to those
humans ate during the Paleolithic era, which took place millions of years ago. It means
only eating foods from hunting and gathering — whole, unprocessed foods,
such as vegetables, nuts, seeds, and meat." (not faux meat!)

 "millions of years ago" suggests how we know this (studies of archaeology and bones).
Also, those hunters and gatherers usually didn't have such daily abundance and variety
... and had a much shorter lifespan with rapidly decreasing health :!:

"Does The Chicken And Broccoli Diet Actually Work?"

 The title of this article hints that "diet" means "weight loss".
Then "You eat just chicken and broccoli." confirms this
... since no carbs immediately suggest the Keto Diet.

"Most nutritionists say that you should avoid sticking so stringently to eating such extreme diets;
eating a wider variety of foods for a more well-rounded diet is really the long-term winning strategy."

"Eating a wider variety of foods" (healthy foods, good portions, seasonal focus) is best :!:

 The hundreds of popular diets promoted in recent decades suggest
that the "No Food Diet" remains the only guaranteed way to lose weight.
Fortunately, no food gets boring even after one day!

:( True story with sad ending ...
Decades ago, a friend decided to try the Breatharian Diet
by eliminating foods as groups. His strategy worked ...
for a month, then he departed with poor health.

I appreciate your thoughts here and thank you for providing us with so much nutritional information, Rod.

While I like both chicken and broccoli, I can't imagine being so limited day after day. These days I am leaning again towards being a vegetarian.
Not there yet...still in the "thinking stage." It is and would be a personal thing, though, and I do not impose my food choices or think badly about anyone who eats meat.

Saucy Blueberries

Post by Amigoo »

Saucy Blueberries

Too simple to be so satisfying!
... and nutritious! ... and versatile!

Combine 3 cups frozen blueberries with 1 cup natural applesauce,
then keep refrigerated, stirring occasionally. Also try with
1 packet lemon powder (or 1 tsp lemon flavoring).

Tip: Sprinkle dried coconut over a 1/2 cup serving
for complementary flavor and nutrition. :roll

Anytime you start talking about 'superfoods' and 'super fruits,' it's probably a little overexaggerated"

 Apparent bottom line: Wild blueberries may have better antioxidant presence
but less important if blueberries are just one of various sources of these nutrients. ;)

Green Almond Graizin'

Post by Amigoo »

Green Almond Graizin'

Edible, nutritious, fibrous mush preferred by alien vegans
(according to myth); usually served with sweet fruit. :roll
Try 1/2 cup serving size. ;)

 Blend 1 medium bunch of leafy celery (rinsed)
with 1 cup cold water; stir in juice of a fresh lime,
and 1/3 cup dehydrated shredded coconut.

Then stir in 2/3 cup sliced almonds. Refrigerate, 8)
serving when almonds soften as desired.

 Substitute raw sunflower seeds for almonds
and call it Sunny Green Graizin' or whatever.

Really Green Graizin'
Skip the almonds, seeds, and coconut;
blend in 4 med. green kiwifruit (peeled),
include frozen lime juice for sweetener.

For Crazy Green Graizin'
unskip almonds, etc.

:study: See also: https://www.webmd.com/diet/health-benefits-celery
"Widely recognized as one of the healthiest snacks available, celery is a wonderful source of fiber."

:study: See also: https://www.livestrong.com/article/2465 ... ery-juice/
"It's difficult to eat a whole bunch of celery at once, but it is possible to drink the juice of that bunch.
When you juice the celery, it concentrates the vitamins and minerals into an easily drinkable beverage
... (but) one major drawback: celery juice lacks fiber" :(

 Cool Green Graizin' (maximum slurp)

 Blend 1 medium bunch of leafy celery (rinsed & chopped)
with 1 cup cold water, then add 1 cup natural applesauce,
then blend in four 6oz bars frozen lime juice dessert
(break frozen juice off of stick). ;)

Freeze until slushy and serve 1 cup in chilled glass
with spoon and/or fat straw. You really might slurp
an entire bunch of celery at once, but don't :!:

:love Green Kiwi KISS (Keep It Slurpy Slushy)
(serve over cracked ice to maintain the slushy) 8)

 Blend 1 medium bunch leafy celery (rinsed & chopped)
with 1 cup cold water and 3 peeled kiwifruit (quartered),
then add 1/2 cup frozen limeade.

Freeze until slushy and serve 1 cup in chilled glass
with spoon and/or fat straw. You really might slurp
an entire bunch of celery at once, but don't :!:

:love Green Granny KISS (Keep It Slurpy Slushy)
substitute 2 med. Granny Smith apples (quartered) for the kiwifruit
and adjust limeade as desired (even none if you dare).

Tip: Substitute natural applesauce, but first remove juice:
Place 1 cup applesauce in coffee filter and let drain into bowl
during refrigeration (use coffee maker basket or strainer
to hold filter). Then add applesauce to celery mixture
to thicken (include some drained juice if too thick).

:love Simple Celery Slush
Better recipe for maximum health (when no sweetener included).

 Blend 1 medium bunch of leafy celery (rinsed) with 1 cup cold water,
then blend in frozen fresh pear pieces (ripe but not too ripe) and include
2 packets True Lime powder. Include preferred sweetener if desired.
(try 2 cups frozen pear pieces)

Re: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Anchor-Hocki ... t/10715156
Fill with 1/3 cup cold water, cover, and freeze for a round bottom ice cube to complement
your sweet Green Granny KISS (more water may break glass during freezing). ;)

Stalk Up!

"Celery contains vitamin C, beta carotene, and flavonoids, but there are at least 12 additional kinds of antioxidant nutrients
found in a single stalk. It’s also a wonderful source of phytonutrients, which have been shown to reduce instances of inflammation
in the digestive tract, cells, blood vessels, and organs." 8)

"Chronic inflammation has been linked to many illnesses, including arthritis and osteoporosis. Celery and celery seeds
have approximately 25 anti-inflammatory compounds that can offer protection against inflammation in the body." :roll

 Considering all the inflammation associated with disease
the traditional "apple a day may keep the doctor away",
but leafy celery a day may keep the grim reaper away. :finger:

Stalk up! Cut bottom off rinsed bunch, cut bunch in half,
place stalks in tall container, slosh* with lotsa salty water,
drain well, refrigerate for daily nobbles (lotsa nibbles). ;)
