The problem with this initiative, IMO, is that all critters then become candidates for "diversity and inclusion". And this reminds of the young man I once knew who had a pet snake that liked to hide in the sofa where visitors sat (probably why I remember this decades-old incident).
This man's obvious affection for his pet snake would suggest today that their marriage was a possibility. Who can tell?! At least, the symbolism seems to complement this initiative.

I now recall joking "Does your snake like apples?" This friend-of-a-friend caught the insinuation
and retorted "She's not that kind of snake!" I recall leaving as the snake then slithered out.

But I can't complain about the high price of ice cream which is helping reduce this Bad Boy
from my diet. And instead of an occasional six-pack, one can every 90 days is the limit
(unless it's free at local barbecues).

Also, I keep lookin' for beer-flavored tea but have been told by a professional drinker
(at a local barbecue) that this is light beer.

Best guess: The world's economies are more integrated these days -
crushing one country's economy only indirectly affects another country's,
a provider of now more costly products and services.

... assumes these families seek employment in affluent neighborhoods
and that these are service jobs like maids, lawn care, etc.

Then there's the problem that all races drive cars that pollute;
pollution that is carried wherever by changes in local climate -
not to mention mass transportation (and commerce) pollutes!
