Midnight Cacaophony

Post by Amigoo »

 Midnight Cacaophony
Impossibly bitter dark chocolate!
Refrigerate between uses. 8)

 Combine 1/3 cup 100% cacao powder
with 3 tbsp virgin olive oil.

 What's the cacaophony?
Cacao powder mixes with oil!
at midnight! (when tested).

 Super combo of antioxidants
for suggested rounded teaspoon
spread over anything sweet. :roll

 Midnight CCCacaophony
Impossibly bitter dark chocolate!
plus coconutty cranberries.

 Combine 2/3 cup 100% cacao powder
with 1/3 cup virgin coconut oil (melted),
then stir in 1 1/3 cups dried cranberries.
Spread between plastic wrap, refrigerate,
then cut into bite-size pieces.

:bana: For seriously nutritional pucker power ...

Try a rounded teaspoon of Midnight Cacaophony
with 1/3 cup Aronia Berries. Upscale with raw walnut halves.

Re: https://www.aroniaberry.ca/blog/aronia- ... erberries/

"the Aronia berry is said to be more nutritional than the Elderberry due to its antioxidant-rich property and higher vitamin & mineral content. They are also able to improve blood circulation, particularly beneficial to those who suffer from high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Proanthocyanidin also helps support anti-inflammatory actions within the body, reducing the effects of autoimmune diseases caused by chronic inflammation such as arthritis." :o

Re: https://www.sawmillhollow.com/about

"This native superfood is a treasure trove of polyphonolic compounds including antioxidants, anthocyanins, resveratrol, and proanthocyanins. It is considered to be one of the most nutritionally dense fruits on the planet." 8)

Re: https://brazilianskin.com/blogs/news/ac ... onia-berry

"The aronia berry has the ability to fight off bacteria and viruses in the body

Ricotta Blues

Post by Amigoo »

Ricotta Blues
(brand mentioned for ingredients reference)

Surprising taste/texture of a dessert cum side dish! 8)

:roll Ingredients:

16oz pkg frozen blueberries, thawed
1 cup hot green tea (or preferred tea)
1/3 cup dark chia seeds
Part-skim milk ricotta cheese

 Directions:

Stir chia seeds into hot tea then stir into blueberries.
Refrigerate for several hours until seeds hydrate.

Stir briefly, then serve over/beside scoop of ricotta.

 Xanthan, locust bean, and guar gums degrade good ice cream (IMO),
but are good nutrients in Walmart's "Part-Skim Milk Ricotta Cheese"
(and are nutritional complement to the whey protein).

:bana: To extend avocado freshness after cutting ...

Mash ripe avocados and mix with minced sweet onion, some garlic granules, and salt.
Press down into a bowl (with lid), then drench surface with distilled white vinegar.
Pour off excess, cover with lid, and refrigerate.

After each use, smooth surface, drench with vinegar,
pour off excess, then refrigerate.

... or just drench a cut avocado half with vinegar
and refrigerate in container with lid. ;)

:sunflower: Re: https://sports.yahoo.com/eating-avocado ... 22674.html

"replacing half a serving per day of margarine, butter, egg, yoghurt, cheese or processed meats with the equivalent amount of avocado resulted in a 16-22 per cent lower risk of heart disease. Avocados contain dietary fibre and key vitamins and minerals, including vitamins C, E and K and magnesium. They are also a source of healthy monosaturated fats. These fats help protect the heart by maintaining levels of 'good' high-density lipoprotein cholesterol while reducing levels of 'bad' low-density lipoprotein cholesterol."

 Since the daily norm for these other foods is more than a serving, replacing more than half a serving may be wise. Interestingly, eggs and yoghurt seem the only foods that need priority, considering the oft reported health risks of other foods in this group (especially margarine and processed meat). ;)

Speckled Cow

Post by Amigoo »

:bana: Speckled Cacao (aka "Speckled Cow",
proof of concept more than healthy recipe).

Re: A local brand of "Premium Homemade Vanilla"

"Ingredients:
Milk, Cream, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Nonfat Milk, Whey, Natural and Artificial Flavors,
Cellulose Gel, Cellulose Gum, Mono & Diglycerides, Carrageenan, Annatto Color."

 Directions:
Melt this 48oz container of "premium ice cream" just enough
to stir in 1/3 cup 100% cacao powder, 1 tsp vanilla (optional),
and a bit of milk if mixture gets too thick. Freeze overnight.

 "Ice cream" refers to ingredients atypical of gourmet ice cream,
but these permit its transition to a tasty, chewy, chilly cow. 8)

 "What's that?!" Just munch this cacaophony and see :!:

"Speckled Nuts" came to mind next, but that's bull if this is cow!
"Say what?!" Top with raw walnuts and a unisex dollop. :roll

 Speckled Cow might become a new millennium flavor!
And Speckled Cow with Chips has "new pasture" appeal! :D

 This minimally melted "ice cream" with its fillers
prevents cacao powder from quickly dissolving,
causing speckled appearance after re-freezing. 8)

Note: Speckled Cow with Nuts may be an oxymoron
(therefore, a popular version in liberal academia
... or in controversial politics). ;)

Applesauce with Nutritional Attitude :roll

Combine 46oz container unsweetened natural applesauce,
2 tsp inulin powder (prebiotic for healthy microbiome),
1 tsp Vitamin C crystals, 2-3 diced red apples,
and 3/4 cup dried cranberries; refrigerate.
Serve with sliced almonds to upscale. 8)

 Notes: Fresh apples also have inulin!
Increase apples and cranberries for super chunky. :D

(IMO) Substitute 1/3 cup 100% cacao powder (not 1/4 cup)

Camp Style Black Bean Brownies

Camp Style Black Bean Brownies
(no electricity for preparation)

:roll Ingredients:

1 29-oz can black beans, drained
2 x-large eggs, 1/4 cup egg whites
3 tbsp virgin olive oil
1/3 cup 100% cacao powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips

 Directions:

Preheat oven to 375F degrees;
lightly oil 8" x 8" baking dish.

In large bowl, add beans, eggs, and oil;
mash very well with a potato masher,
then stir in remaining ingredients
(chocolate chips last).

Pour batter into baking dish,
reduce oven to 350F, bake 40 min.

 Include 1/3 cup applesauce
to increase moisture or if no chips. ;)

Tip: Without chocolate chips, these ingredients
suggest healthy breakfast food. Bon Appétit :!:
(serve with raw walnuts to upscale)

"Breakfast Brownies Madder" comes to mind.
(maybe at Eleven Mad this year):

 Try a warmed Black Bean Brownie, topped with shredded sweet onion
sauteed in butter with dried cranberries. Concept messes with your mind!
("brownie" is dessert, but ingredients shout "That was last century!") :o

OB Saucy Bedtime

Since many recipes are posted online for "Overnight Oats"
(rolled oats soaked in liquid for the morning's breakfast),
light oat bran soaked in applesauce is another option:

 Stir 2 rounded tbsp oat bran into 1/2 cup chilled applesauce,
then cover dish and refrigerate overnight. Tasty served
with a sprinkle of cinnamon and raw walnut pieces,
even 1/4 cup more chilled applesauce. :roll

:bana: Now it's OK for Granny to boast that
she gets her energy from Saucy Bedtimes.

Survival Energy Bars

Post by Amigoo »

Re: https://www.brighteon.com/
(search for: "HOMEMADE SURVIVAL ENERGY BARS")

8) This recipe suggests many combinations of ingredients
can be used to create these no-bake "survival energy bars".
Here's an impromptu no-sweetener version:

Combine 1/2 cup peanuts-only butter,
2 tbsp virgin coconut oil (melted),
1/4 cup white sesame seeds,
3 tbsp 100% cacao powder,
3/4 cup light oat bran,
1/8 tsp salt.

 Mixture should be firm before pressing flat
between plastic wrap; refrigerate overnight.
Keep refrigerated between servings.

Tips: Include 1/2 cup currants (small dark raisins)
or dried cranberries for natural dried fruit sweetness.
Reduce moisture with more oat bran or coconut flour
(or dust with this flour after pieces are cut). :roll

.. or dust pieces with coconut flour after refrigeration,
then store in container with raisins or cranberries. 8)

Lignans, which possess a steroid-like chemical structure and are defined as phytoestrogens, are of particular interest to researchers.
