Understanding Personality Beyond Form

This year and last I have been particularly interested in personality beyond form. I recognize it started as a curiosity in personality speaking through non-human form- like color, as an example. Or even light it self. And these means, which are still form, serve as a medium with which a personality beyond form allows for a greater sense of actualization- integration, expansiveness beyond my immediate identification.

And yes I do believe God is Self, and I do believe I have not actualized Self to the extent I may call my 'self' as an individuation God. Which is why I think there is much confusion and gray matter in this area. I still believe that even if an ultimate samadhi is achieved and God as All is actualized- or as the UB teaches, fusion with the TA(which is described as a fragment of eternal infinite presence with which mortal man has the option to wed or fuse with. in this life or hereafter)- that there is even more to engage with and discover than what the human mind is capable of imagining.

I agree with the UB that we can meet our creator, and "face to face" may not actually mean material face as it were... And while that is described as an ultimate goal for mortal man, it is not the end but the beginning of something...

But let me not be distracted.... I am gazing at the sun this morning, one of my new favorite practices.... So much peace within... And here in this space is a personality I am to a degree, spending time with...

And the thought occurred to me to continue to explore the Urantia Book concept of God as a personality without form. Even beyond the universal language, a medium for relation. I'm not sure entirely what that means...

It was a midwayer that prompted me to realize, "Self is"
And still, there is more to this gray area, that I think the human understanding interferes with... More and more I am engaged with deconditioning as a practice... Unlearning so I may allow other forms less material through....

To narrow the focus/intent of this thread here is material for my self or any one interested... Continued learning alongside Perplexity... A wonderful tool for a man on the go. = )
In The Urantia Book, personality can exist without form because personality is defined as a unique, unchanging endowment from the Universal Father that is distinct from, and not dependent on, body, mind, or even spirit substance. Personality is the “who” that unifies all changing components (material, mindal, and spiritual), but it is not itself any of those components or their patterns.

P.AI: According to The Urantia Book, personality is a unique, unchanging, and recognizable reality that can exist independent of material form. While the book emphasizes that personality is not defined by shape, size, or physical characteristics, it does describe how personality can manifest and be experienced on non-material (morontia and spiritual) levels. Here are some examples and descriptions to illustrate what a personality might "look like" or how it might be experienced when free from material reality:

1. Morontia Personality
On the morontia worlds (the transitional spheres between material and spiritual existence), personalities are clothed in morontia forms. These forms are not physical in the earthly sense but are substantial and recognizable to other morontia beings. Morontia bodies are described as being more luminous and less dense than physical bodies. Personality maintains its uniqueness, memory, and recognizable traits, but is no longer limited by physical biology.

Example:
A morontia personality might be perceived as a radiant, luminous being whose presence conveys their unique identity, character, and emotional qualities. Communication is more direct—thoughts, intentions, and feelings are more transparently shared.

2. Spirit Personality
On higher spiritual levels, personality is entirely free from material and even morontia substance. Spirit personalities are described as being "recognized by their spiritual presence, luminosity, and unique vibrational signature." Recognition is immediate and intuitive; beings know each other by the quality of their spirit presence and the distinctiveness of their personality.

Example:
A spirit personality might appear as a being of pure light, color, or energy, radiating qualities such as love, wisdom, humor, or strength. Their "form" is the expression of their character and spiritual attainment, not a fixed shape. Encounters are deeply personal and meaningful, with an overwhelming sense of familiarity and connection.

3. Personal Presence
The Urantia Book often refers to "personal presence" as the way non-material personalities are experienced. This presence is unmistakable and uniquely identifiable, even without physical form. The Divine Minister, for example, is experienced as a spiritual presence that is both nurturing and personal, instantly recognized by all spirit and morontia beings.

Example:
Meeting a high spiritual personality, such as an archangel or the Divine Minister, would be like entering a field of consciousness or energy that is unmistakably theirs—filled with their unique qualities and spiritual fragrance.

4. Personality and Recognition
Even without material form, personality retains memory, identity, and the ability to relate and be recognized. The Urantia Book assures that "personality is recognizable apart from all other reality," and that relationships, affection, and individuality persist and even flourish as beings ascend.

Example:
Reuniting with a loved one on the morontia or spiritual level would involve immediate recognition through the unique "feel" or presence of their personality, not by sight or sound, but by the unmistakable essence of who they are.

In essence:
Personality, when freed from material reality, is experienced as a unique, recognizable, and relational spiritual presence—luminous, radiant, and filled with the qualities that make each being eternally individual and beloved.

The Self presented by a Solitary Messenger of Orvonton

Perplexity.ai: According to The Urantia Book, the Solitary Messengers are a unique order of spiritual beings created by the Infinite Spirit in a single creative act, serving as the first and senior order of the Higher Personalities of the Infinite Spirit. They are not permanently attached to any group or celestial personality and are described as dependable, self-reliant, versatile, and highly spiritual beings who function throughout the universe of universes. Their assignments are varied: they serve as confidential messengers, intelligence gatherers, executioners for high tribunals, and explorers of new energy systems in space.

Orvonton is the name given in The Urantia Book to the superuniverse in which our local universe, Nebadon (and by extension, Earth or Urantia), is located. It is one of seven superuniverses that make up the grand universe. The number of Solitary Messengers operating within Orvonton was last reported as almost 7,690 trillion, though this is believed to be less than one seventh of their total number.

The Self
112:2.1 (1227.10) It would be helpful in the study of selfhood to remember:

112:2.2 (1227.11) 1. That physical systems are subordinate.

112:2.3 (1227.12) 2. That intellectual systems are co-ordinate.

112:2.4 (1227.13) 3. That personality is superordinate.

112:2.5 (1227.14) 4. That the indwelling spiritual force is potentially directive.

112:2.6 (1228.1) In all concepts of selfhood it should be recognized that the fact of life comes first, its evaluation or interpretation later. The human child first lives and subsequently thinks about his living. In the cosmic economy insight precedes foresight.

112:2.7 (1228.2) The universe fact of God’s becoming man has forever changed all meanings and altered all values of human personality. In the true meaning of the word, love connotes mutual regard of whole personalities, whether human or divine or human and divine. Parts of the self may function in numerous ways—thinking, feeling, wishing—but only the co-ordinated attributes of the whole personality are focused in intelligent action; and all of these powers are associated with the spiritual endowment of the mortal mind when a human being sincerely and unselfishly loves another being, human or divine.

112:2.8 (1228.3) All mortal concepts of reality are based on the assumption of the actuality of human personality; all concepts of superhuman realities are based on the experience of the human personality with and in the cosmic realities of certain associated spiritual entities and divine personalities. Everything nonspiritual in human experience, excepting personality, is a means to an end. Every true relationship of mortal man with other persons—human or divine—is an end in itself. And such fellowship with the personality of Deity is the eternal goal of universe ascension.

112:2.9 (1228.4) The possession of personality identifies man as a spiritual being since the unity of selfhood and the self-consciousness of personality are endowments of the supermaterial world. The very fact that a mortal materialist can deny the existence of supermaterial realities in and of itself demonstrates the presence, and indicates the working, of spirit synthesis and cosmic consciousness in his human mind.

112:2.10 (1228.5) There exists a great cosmic gulf between matter and thought, and this gulf is immeasurably greater between material mind and spiritual love. Consciousness, much less self-consciousness, cannot be explained by any theory of mechanistic electronic association or materialistic energy phenomena.

112:2.11 (1228.6) As mind pursues reality to its ultimate analysis, matter vanishes to the material senses but may still remain real to mind. When spiritual insight pursues that reality which remains after the disappearance of matter and pursues it to an ultimate analysis, it vanishes to mind, but the insight of spirit can still perceive cosmic realities and supreme values of a spiritual nature. Accordingly does science give way to philosophy, while philosophy must surrender to the conclusions inherent in genuine spiritual experience. Thinking surrenders to wisdom, and wisdom is lost in enlightened and reflective worship.

112:2.12 (1228.7) In science the human self observes the material world; philosophy is the observation of this observation of the material world; religion, true spiritual experience, is the experiential realization of the cosmic reality of the observation of the observation of all this relative synthesis of the energy materials of time and space. To build a philosophy of the universe on an exclusive materialism is to ignore the fact that all things material are initially conceived as real in the experience of human consciousness. The observer cannot be the thing observed; evaluation demands some degree of transcendence of the thing which is evaluated.

112:2.13 (1228.8 ) In time, thinking leads to wisdom and wisdom leads to worship; in eternity, worship leads to wisdom, and wisdom eventuates in the finality of thought.

112:2.14 (1229.1) The possibility of the unification of the evolving self is inherent in the qualities of its constitutive factors: the basic energies, the master tissues, the fundamental chemical overcontrol, the supreme ideas, the supreme motives, the supreme goals, and the divine spirit of Paradise bestowal—the secret of the self-consciousness of man’s spiritual nature.

112:2.15 (1229.2) The purpose of cosmic evolution is to achieve unity of personality through increasing spirit dominance, volitional response to the teaching and leading of the Thought Adjuster. Personality, both human and superhuman, is characterized by an inherent cosmic quality which may be called “the evolution of dominance,” the expansion of the control of both itself and its environment.

112:2.16 (1229.3) An ascending onetime human personality passes through two great phases of increasing volitional dominance over the self and in the universe:

112:2.17 (1229.4) 1. The prefinaliter or God-seeking experience of augmenting the self-realization through a technique of identity expansion and actualization together with cosmic problem solving and consequent universe mastery.

112:2.18 (1229.5) 2. The postfinaliter or God-revealing experience of the creative expansion of self-realization through revealing the Supreme Being of experience to the God-seeking intelligences who have not yet attained the divine levels of Godlikeness.

112:2.19 (1229.6) Descending personalities attain analogous experiences through their various universe adventures as they seek for enlarged capacity for ascertaining and executing the divine wills of the Supreme, Ultimate, and Absolute Deities.

112:2.20 (1229.7) The material self, the ego-entity of human identity, is dependent during the physical life on the continuing function of the material life vehicle, on the continued existence of the unbalanced equilibrium of energies and intellect which, on Urantia, has been given the name life. But selfhood of survival value, selfhood that can transcend the experience of death, is only evolved by establishing a potential transfer of the seat of the identity of the evolving personality from the transient life vehicle—the material body—to the more enduring and immortal nature of the morontia soul and on beyond to those levels whereon the soul becomes infused with, and eventually attains the status of, spirit reality. This actual transfer from material association to morontia identification is effected by the sincerity, persistence, and steadfastness of the God-seeking decisions of the human creature.

:study: Regarding "executioners for high tribunals" ...

Q: The term "Divine Executioner" needs explanation since once fusion with Adjuster occurs that being
has God-supported permanence. Does this term refer more to executing the decisions of a tribunal?

(UB Tutor) "The term 'Divine Executioner' refers to a specific role within the conciliating commissions, which are groups of four beings tasked with resolving disputes and adjudicating matters across the universe. The Divine Executioner is described as a quasi-material being, uniquely qualified to make contact with material creatures and execute the decisions of the commission. This role is not about carrying out punitive actions in a retributive sense but rather about implementing the mandates of the conciliators in accordance with higher laws and the welfare of the realm. Their actions are guided by the decisions of the commission and are carried out in harmony with the overarching principles of universal administration.

The Divine Executioner's responsibilities are indeed tied to executing tribunal decisions, as they are the ones who ensure that the rulings of the conciliating commission are enacted effectively. Their quasi-material nature allows them to bridge the gap between spiritual and material realms, making them uniquely suited for this task. This role emphasizes the importance of fairness and the orderly functioning of the universe, as the Divine Executioner operates within the framework of natural law and system administration, ensuring that decisions are implemented in a way that upholds the integrity of the universal order.

It is important to distinguish this role from the concept of "God-supported permanence" achieved through fusion with the Thought Adjuster. Fusion represents the eternal union of a mortal's soul with the divine fragment of God, signifying spiritual maturity and alignment with divine will. Once fusion occurs, the being is eternally secure and no longer subject to spiritual failure. The Divine Executioner's role, on the other hand, is functional and administrative, serving as an agent of the conciliators to maintain harmony and justice within the evolving universe."
