when twinkling eyes are reaching
every nuanced smile speaks its message
but beauty comes and goes,
like a time-marker scrolling towards its inevitable end
when skin begins to crack or wrinkle
and moles begin to mound and droop
the mystery of personality begins to fade
the dauntingness of mortality,
the loneliness of a heart in wanting,
there's only one friend i've ever longed for
but haven't realized
for i've danced and forgotten
behind each timely demise is the vast sea
compromised of every joy and heartache
