Vroomité
Vroomité (a snitch of culinary cacaophony,
with flavors not too distant from a Mexican Molé)
"A teaspoon a day keeps the game in play," but ...
"A tablespoon a day gives your broom an afterburner!
... so keep your steering hand on the yoke."
A daily spooner of vitamins/mineral/antioxidants,
with good potential as base for dips, sauces, glazes.
Combine with equal portion of commercial tomato
sauces to reduce typical sodium and sugar while
increasing depth of flavors and nutrition.
Ingredients:
6oz can tomato paste
2 cans hot, strong green tea
3/4 tsp turmeric extract powder
3 tbsp 100% cacao powder
2 tbsp dried cilantro
1 tbsp red beet powder
3/4 tsp garlic granules
3/4 tsp cumin powder
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp sea salt
2 tsp honey
1 tbsp virgin olive oil
Directions:
Whisk dry ingredients into hot tea, then tomato paste,
then remaining ingredients with olive oil last. Refrigerate.
For Vroomité with Seedy Finesse (extra gamey), try
1/4 cup dried fennel seeds soaked 5 min. in 1/3 cup hot water,
then drained and stirred into completed tomato mixture.
Vroomité as "je ne sais quoi" ...
Woman to blind date, a Keeper named Randy:
"Your etiquette is excruciating, your morals meandering,
and your intelligence idiosyncratic, but your vroomité
keeps steering me in your Randy direction."
Not necessarily related to a broom game like this:
Re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quidditch ... ife_sport)
"Quidditch, also known as quadball since 2022, is a team sport that was created in 2005 at Middlebury College
in Vermont, United States, and was inspired by the fictional game of the same name in the Harry Potter books
by the author J. K. Rowling. Two teams of seven players each, astride broomsticks and opposing each other
on a rectangular pitch, compete with the primary objective of passing a ball through the defenders' hoops,
while preventing their opponents from passing it through their own hoops ... sometimes referred to
as 'muggle quidditch' to distinguish it from the fictional game of those books."

"Can Beetroot Powder Improve Athletic Performance?"
"Beetroot powder is rich in nitrate, a compound made of nitrogen and oxygen.
On its own, nitrate doesn’t do much for your body. But when your saliva converts
it to nitrite and nitric oxide … well, good things happen. Nitric oxide relaxes
and expands your blood vessels, which allows for increased blood flow
and more oxygen delivered throughout your body"
Smoothies are swallowed - not mixed with saliva (which starts digestion).
Thus, one must swish their smoothie to enliven their trademark swish.

Re: UB Cookin'
Hi Rod,
I have been enjoying the new recipe additions to this thread. They are now recorded in the Recipe index and I wish to apologize for my tardiness. My mom and dad have been having a really tough time with their health and I have been a bit stretched.
Some of the new recipes I find fascinating like the Frozen Celery and Sauce! That one is definitely a must-try. Who would have thought..
I also would like to learn more about cadmium and its effects on the body as My sister and I consume a good amount of Spinach, carrots, and sweet potatoes. (mostly spinach) My parents both suffer from Dementia and I would certainly like to feed them Dementia healing foods if at all possible when they come home to live with me. Trying to eat well can really be confusing and make your head spin.
Thank you so much for this thread and your input on this very important subject.
xxSandy
Sandy,
Months of research keep reminding a balanced diet with lotsa fresh food
(including natural soluble/insoluble fiber) nurtures a healthy microbiome,
the ultimate foundation of good health!
An unpeeled, organic apple a day comes to mind.
I'm trying to bond with the thawing celery, topped with natural applesauce
and sliced almonds as an ice cream substitute. So far, not a substitute!

More recently, gut microbiome alterations have been linked to neurodegeneration through the increasingly defined gut microbiota brain axis, opening the possibility for new microbiota-based therapeutic options."

"Apple: a fruit with pre- and probiotics properties?"
"apple contains pectin, a soluble fiber found in the skin but also pips. Pectin is known to have prebiotic benefits. In fact, it increases the level of a short chain fatty acid, butyrate, which nourishes the good bacteria of our intestinal microbiota and therefore allows their growth. In addition, it also helps to limit the population of harmful bacteria."

Re: https://www.brighteon.com/
(search for: "Göbekli Tepe 10,000 B.C.") Began planting wheat?
Re: https://jovialfoods.com/what-is-einkorn/

Re: https://www.beetsandbones.com/how-to-sp ... t-berries/
"sprouting does a whole lot to take wheat to a new level of nutrition."
What happens next
Dunno! Slow cook? Bake? Plant in your garden?
Lentils + wheat create a complete protein!
Also, lentils and Einkorn cook about the same time
and both can be sprouted! Who needs faux meat?
Re: https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/25034 ... r-lentils/
"Bulgur & Lentils" Looks like a recipe to adapt!
Re: https://www.oryana.coop/blog/einkorn-tabbouleh/
"Einkorn Tabbouleh"
Soaked einkorn is already chewy so cooking could be reduced
(even to a quick parboil, especially if sprouted).
Re: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7Qo9xet5_E
"Let's Talk About Einkorn"
Better as rice substitute than as bread flour.
Has good protein but better with a lysine food.

I was just thinking about the Mediterranean diet yesterday but hadn't the time to look it up. I remember you speaking of it before and it sounded impressive. Thank you for posting information concerning the food list again. I find it very helpful as I consider what I wish to eat in the future.

"What is Manuka honey? It's expensive, but might be worth trying."
"While there are some studies that show it may have a smaller effect on blood sugar than table sugar,
those with pre-diabetes, diabetes or unstable blood sugar will need to use it with caution and also
make sure they balance it with some protein and fat."
This "balance with protein and fat" is common advice
for consumption of all carbohydrates

Re: UB Cookin'
Thank you Rod!
All these new recipes posted recently are very tempting.
I hope to try the EZ Saucy Blueberries recipe this week. Do you think it would taste good paired with Greek Yogurt?
xxSandy
Sandy,
With sugar it's almost like canned blueberry pie filling,
but more diabetic friendly without the sugar.
I'm still avoiding the temptation
to spoon this over vanilla ice cream,
but plain Greek yogurt sounds tasty
