A cure for loneliness

“What really causes us to feel lonely? – Is it not being understood- Is it that we are afraid to spend time alone with our own thoughts, letting our minds sink to the bottom of everything we think about ourselves?

What if we told you that in your so called loneliness you might find that ecstatic union- The feeling that you and all of the world and the people around you are so supremely connected - and that this veil of bodies and clothes and separation is just a way for us to experience ourselves until we return to the unity.

Although- how, when we feel so lonely do we get connected?
The sense of connection can often come after a time of feeling so alone that when we have hit the bottom there is a sigh of relief and we can feel the peace and the connection.

The sense of connection can also come in doing mutual activities such as singing or helping others or in meditation. Activities where our hearts and minds become joined in one common goal- A feeling of unity can arise from this.

A feeling of connection for many is felt through appreciation of people and nature. When we appreciate, we connect. When we notice the beauty of a flower we are connected to it. When we notice the beauty of another person, we feel connected to them.
So.. perhaps then a good remedy for loneliness could lie in our ability to appreciate the world.

Appreciating the beauty and the wonderful qualities of those around us, and of the planet that sustains us, and feeds us on so many levels. When we feel gratitude for these things, we break down the walls of separation and we connect to them.

Let’s think for a moment that you are walking in the street and you see someone and you take a minute to appreciate their work or who they are- in that very moment, how are you feeling with that other person? – Connected? Yes- and that person feels connected to the real sense of themselves also in that way that the infinite always loves and appreciates us – therefore when we do this for each other we also feel closer to the Divine through the energy that we are in connection to the Infinite Spirit.

If we take the scenario of being alone in nature, and for a moment we look upon the water and marvel at the beauty of the reflections and the ripples in the water. How is that very moment do we feel with this water?- We feel connected- And also the marvelous off spin of this connection is that you will also create a delicious connection through your appreciation straight back to Mother Earth. – She will feel your appreciation and envelop you with her loving energies- Which in a moment of loneliness-wouldn't that feel absolutely amazing too.

So, it seems that after looking into only a couple of life’s areas that a fast way to eradicate the feelings of loneliness is to prescribe the miracle cure gratitude or appreciation - To people and the planet, to animals and your surroundings. How difficult is it to feel lonely during a moment of appreciation for yourself, another or the glorious planet.

How simple and quick a remedy this could be for our worldwide epidemics of loneliness.

Connection through appreciation. How about we all write this prescription for ourselves today.

What a beautiful way to ease the burdens of loneliness and separation.

We love you all very much”- Saint Serafina and Chico Xavier
