And fascinating symbolism, this chalice:

Sanjiang, meaning "three rivers", and not intentionally associated with the demolished Sanjiang Church in Wenzhou (demolished building - not "church") provides fascinating symbolism when "three rivers" is perceived as the three essential paths to Heaven (more specifically, to the mansion worlds, our immediate destiny as mortals):

1. Via the Son of Man (his teachings and guidance).
2. Via men of religion (those who know God).
3. Via men who know not God.

Even the third path can be effective if we learn how to find God or "what not to do".

In Episode 1 of "Finding Jesus", the Shroud of Turin is the primary focus.

While the UB's paragraph 190:1.2 (see below) describes the final disposal of the grave cloths ("over a near-by cliff"), these following quotes state that saturated bandages - not a single cloth - were directly next to Jesus' body. And, apparently, two different sheets are mentioned in the UB paragraphs; the linen sheet (over the bandages) which wrapped Jesus' body has been the focus for the Shroud of Turin mystery:

"Joseph and Nicodemus had brought with them large quantities of myrrh and aloes, and they now wrapped the body with bandages saturated with these solutions. When the embalming was completed, they tied a napkin about the face, wrapped the body in a linen sheet, and reverently placed it on a shelf in the tomb." (188:1.4)

"In the recess of stone where they had laid Jesus, Mary saw only the folded napkin where his head had rested and the bandages wherewith he had been wrapped lying intact and as they had rested on the stone before the celestial hosts removed the body. The covering sheet lay at the foot of the burial niche." (189.4.6)

"for the high priest sent the captain of the temple guards to the tomb at half past seven o’clock to remove the grave cloths. The captain wrapped them all up in the linen sheet and threw them over a near-by cliff." (190:1.2)

Thus, the image on the Shroud of Turin would have to reflect this ceremonial wrapping - it does not; the Shroud's image displays direct contact with a body (if this is what created the image). Seemingly, the Shroud is not authentic.

However ... there's an intriguing possibility that a different linen sheet (see quote below) is the Shroud of Turin. For this bloodied linen sheet would not have been used in the ceremonial wrapping of Jesus' body at Joseph's tomb. What happened to this first sheet used to wrap Jesus?

"At about half past four o’clock the burial procession of Jesus of Nazareth started from Golgotha for Joseph’s tomb across the way. The body was wrapped in a linen sheet as the four men carried it, followed by the faithful women watchers from Galilee." (188:1.3)

The UB's paragraphs present an intriguing but subtle mystery!

Such controversy (IMO) will likely provide a positive transition to the Urantia revelation for those whose faith is based on the existence of the Shroud. For even if science disproves the authenticity of the icon at the Vatican, no one can harm (literally and figuratively) the True Shroud.

With breakfast cooking (brown rice), I went back to the computer for exercise (aka "mouse manipulation and internet surfin'"). Later, the kitchen timer alerted me to a pending scorched pan; I rushed past the wall clock on the way to the sizzling pan: 1:11 AM.

So, why the same Subject for these emails? "The time is right!"
What was the Subject? "11:11 Message"

These Bible verses identify two different linen sheets if Matthew 27:59 refers to Joseph at the tomb:

Mark 15:46: "And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre."

Matthew 27:59: "And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth."

More evidence that the bloodied linen sheet would not have been used after Jesus' body was washed and then wrapped with clean bandages saturated with aloes and myrrh. And the UB's " threw them over a near-by cliff." (190:1.2) does not account for the first linen sheet since it refers to "the linen sheet" (one sheet).

Why does it matter? It probably doesn't if you're not intrigued by the Shroud of Turin.

A very good, in-depth, UB-focused discussion of the Shroud, including the Sudarium of Oviedo,
but does not identify the two different linen sheets* that were used to wrap Jesus' body.

* A clean linen sheet is assumed for the ceremonial burial preparation - not the bloodied
linen sheet used to carry Jesus' body to Joseph's tomb.

Incidentally, the marks along the two sides of the Shroud might indicate how
the four men carried Jesus' body. (using the sheet as a stretcher?)

How would Joseph and Nicodemus have use of such spears? Consider the shapes of these spears, then quotes about the centurion:

Thanks for posting the web address for The UBNews website, Rod. What a great site! I've booked marked it for the ease of "return trips" as well as the sharing with others.

I was also surprised at the sophisticated kind of spear the Romans used. It was nothing like I originally pictured and actually would have worked well I bet as a stretcher for Jesus's body. To be honest though, I hadn't thought much about such things.
It must have been terrifying to see a company of Roman soldiers, complete with war gear, moving through the countryside.

And you may be interested that this book "The Shroud of Turin" arrives at much the same conclusion, although not articulated. A great read though. They of course were working with the final cloth that covered Jesus.

During three decades of UB reading, I never realized that two linen sheets would have been used (the bloodied first one would not have been appropriate for a ceremonial burial). And the UB hints that celestial beings did not interfere with the disposal (or not) of either sheet, leaving the possibility that the first one could have been saved.

Dear Rod,

Get the book, you will be convinced. They even have a reasonable explanation of its path (The Burial Shroud) through the years to arrive in Turin, but its the research into the image that is totally compelling. And they have debunked the carbon dating.
