Oh my God! So much for not watching TV for too many hours (as specifically and repeatedly requested by my celestial teacher   ).

The Olympic Games. I am going to profoundly enjoy them, for sure.

They are already showing the ice skating team competition tonight. And I am glued to the screen... :hithere

Biathlon, ice hockey, downhill........... I only hope I got enough gigabytes left on my external HDD to record all that HD footage... :bana:

I will never forget Torvil and Dean, Sarah! They were something special! :D

My family loved,'Cool Runnings' with John Candy, a movie made very loosely around the story of the Jamaican Bobsled team. In fact, we watch it at my parents whenever I come in for a visit.

Sad to say, I missed the first day's excitement. We couldn't find it on the TV line up... :(
Thanks Robert for the links, though. :D

Sandy love your smilie.
That smilie is me in real life but on an old fashioned wooden toboggan, Michele.
Every time I view it I am reminded of a time very long ago when my family, all four of us and my ex's sister, husband and two kids all lined up on this massive long toboggan for a ride down an icy Ohio hill. Did I say it was icy??? That was an understatement!!! And so with great speed we hit the first bump and all eight of us were sent spiralling into the air. Luckily we all still had our fingers toes and the good sense to let it go and move on to the hot chocolate waiting for us at grandma's house. It still makes me smile as I imagine what we must have looked like, though. :D

You gotta give it to Putin, he just pulled off wonderful Olympic Games. Hats off. Not that he is my favorite person out there... :hithere

Loved the closing ceremony. Good to see Alexander Pushkin and Lev Tolstoi writing more stuff in the afterlife... :bana:

They were sitting behind the tables, impersonated by lookalikes:

I'm just a little sad that it is over, Robert. :( Oh well, "to everything there is a season"... or something like that. LOL

Now I am hearing this song that I haven't thought about in years... written by Pete Seeger and performed by The Byrds

""Turn! Turn! Turn!"

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones
A time to gather stones together

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace
A time to refrain from embracing

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late!"

Hopefully it will soon be time for Peace! :finger: And perhaps these Olympics just ended have inched us just a little closer to it. :)
love,
Sandy
