Teacher: “What are the most important things in life? Is it physical condition and appearance? Rest and entertainment? Many of these things are necessary but not always indispensable. Furthermore, many of them do not require a great deal of time.

“In reality, to achieve balance in a human life requires for you to determine where to invest the limited amount of time available. You must balance your time for your material needs, your social needs, and your spiritual needs. Certainly, many times you might have to make a decision and postpone the satisfaction of a need for the benefit of another. The best way to do this is by evaluating the payoff.

“It is the satisfaction of the spiritual needs – soul growth – which brings the highest payoff to he human being. The benefits derived from the achievements in this area go well beyond mortal life of that single individual. It is in the activities oriented to soul growth that you should invest most of your time. These activities should have priority over the others. Besides the purely spiritual benefits, there are other ‘side effects’ that spill into other areas of human life.

“By growing spiritually, you also develop a calmness that allows you to face with courage any situation that may arise. Also, you develop the character to take on any problem and assume an attitude of victory in the face of the regular defeats in life. Your relationship with your siblings in this world becomes deeper and more satisfactory. Your mind gets more relaxed, alert, and your imagination increases greatly. Even your physical body becomes healthier and the bodily systems work more efficiently. It is indeed such a waste that many humans don’t dedicate more time to spiritual growth and the exploration of the divine Spark within.

“The best tool you have for spiritual growth is Stillness. When practiced with the supreme desire of finding the Father within yourself, the benefits are enhanced and the results, even when they might not be evident for you, come faster.”
