Analysis of geometric "flutterby":

Perpendicular lines cross, identifying center of circle;
- a shorter line connects two points of the cross and has length
equal to half of a side of the circle's inscribed square.
- a longer line connects the other two points of the cross
and has length equal to the circle's radius.

Well ... these geometric objects now align so easily
that layering lines to minimize color bleeding is the
greater challenge (sometimes requiring that the
entire composition be redrawn).
