:stars: Having lived near the Dallas / Fort Worth airport five decades,
it's a no-brainer that two types of jet plane emissions are up there,
with the second type claimed by some to be "chemtrails". :o

Regardless of their type, the second type (unlike first type
called "contrails") extend for miles, eventually fade to a haze,
and usually disappear within 24 hours :!:

Interestingly, today with the day's high being 50F degrees
(and nightime temperature closer to 30F), we can't believe
that the "chemtrails" are associated with global warming
(designed to reduce the sun's heat). After all, what heat
needs to be reduced today?

 AI once seemed promising for revealing what's happenin'
in the skies - worldwide - but somehow AI still doesn't find
any internet commentary about chemtrail existence
that it is willing to acknowledge. ;)

"Bill is working with U.S. Department of Defense to integrate genetically modified insects into food supply,
potentially as a step toward reducing traditional meat consumption.

Crickets and grasshoppers are already making their way into the American diet in various forms, including protein bars,
shakes, and even restaurant menus. Additionally, they're promoted as sustainable options for pet food and animal feed."

 First thought: Good protein can be obtained from real food -
skip these snack foods, faux meats, and heavily processed foods.

:hithere On the other hand, this AI seems to agree with Bill Gates ...

(Perplexity) "Insects are likely to become an increasingly important food source for humans:

- Market growth: The global insect protein market is projected to reach $3.3 billion by 2027,
growing at a CAGR of 33.4%.

- Nutritional benefits: Insects are rich in protein, essential minerals, and micronutrients,
making them a nutritious alternative to traditional protein sources.

- Sustainability: Insect farming requires significantly less land, water, and feed
compared to conventional livestock, making it an environmentally sustainable option.

- Food security: As the global population grows, insects could help address food security issues,
especially in food-insecure regions.

- Product innovation: Companies are developing new insect-based products, including protein powders,
bars, snacks, and even incorporating insects into traditional foods like pasta and burgers.

 Worm-shaped (and colored) spaghetti would help us prepare for the transition
... and dark chocolate would even promote the crunchy insects today :!:

:bana: Meme coins, the new financial vitamins?

Re: https://www.axios.com/2025/01/18/trump- ... 25-billion
"Trump launches meme coin, apparently makes more than $25 billion overnight"

"Trump has warmly embraced cryptocurrency as a concept and an industry, to the point that
he is reportedly considering designating it a "national priority" as soon as this week,"

Q: What is a cryptocurrency meme coin?

(Perplexity) A cryptocurrency meme coin is a type of digital currency that is typically based on internet memes,
popular cultural phenomena, or humorous themes. Unlike traditional cryptocurrencies that focus on technical innovations
or underlying blockchain networks, meme coins derive their value primarily from their virality, social media presence,
and community support
.

Key characteristics of meme coins include:

- Cultural inspiration: They often reflect viral trends or popular internet memes.
- Community-driven: Meme coins create strong, often humorous communities that celebrate the coins and associated memes.
- Speculative nature: Despite their humorous origins, some meme coins are seen as investment opportunities with high volatility.
- Low entry barrier: They often allow people without deep cryptocurrency knowledge to participate in the market.
- Limited utility: Many meme coins lack practical uses beyond being tradable tokens.

Examples of well-known meme coins include Dogecoin, which was created in 2013 as a joke but gained significant popularity, and Shiba Inu.
These coins have shown the potential to reach substantial market capitalizations, despite their unconventional origins. It's important to note
that while meme coins can be profitable investments, they are highly speculative and carry significant risks due to their volatility
and often limited practical applications
."

(Perplexity) "Cryptocurrencies like Dogecoin, despite being created as jokes, remain popular for several reasons:

- Community support: Dogecoin has built a passionate community that appreciates its fun and lighthearted approach to cryptocurrency.
This strong community has been involved in various charity projects and online events, contributing to its popularity.

- Celebrity endorsements: High-profile figures like Elon Musk and Mark Cuban have promoted Dogecoin,
leading to significant price surges and increased public interest.
Musk's tweets referring to Dogecoin
as "the people's crypto" have had a profound effect on its value.

- Accessibility and low cost: Dogecoin's low price per coin makes it accessible to a wider range of investors,
especially those new to cryptocurrency. Its presence on popular platforms like Robinhood has also increased its accessibility.

- Practical uses: Despite its origins, Dogecoin has gained some practical applications. It's accepted as a form of payment
by various online merchants and businesses, including the Dallas Mavericks for ticket and merchandise purchases.

- Market dynamics: The cryptocurrency market is not always rational, and the popularity of meme coins
demonstrates that fundamentals are not the only factor driving value in the crypto space.

- Social media trends: The virality of meme coins on social media platforms has contributed significantly
to their popularity and price movements.

- Potential for high returns: The volatile nature of meme coins like Dogecoin has attracted traders
looking for quick gains, despite the high risks involved.

While the long-term sustainability of meme coins remains questionable due to their lack of strong fundamentals
and development
, their popularity persists due to a combination of community support, celebrity influence,
and the broader cultural phenomenon they represent in the cryptocurrency world."

(Perplexity) "The Greater Fool Theory strongly applies to cryptocurrency meme coin investing!
Meme coins often lack fundamental value or utility, relying heavily on speculative behavior
and expectation that someone else will buy them at a higher price. ;)

This investment approach in meme coins aligns with the Greater Fool Theory's core premise:
investors buy overvalued assets, disregarding fundamentals, believing they can sell to someone else
at a higher price later
. The recent meme coin boom exemplifies this, with prices driven more
by speculation and hype than intrinsic value
."

 Since popularity is often the primary support of cryptocurrencies,
meme coins now seem another reminder to "Buy low! Sell high!"

:hithere Speaking of global warming ...

(Perplexity) "The sun's brightness is increasing by about 10 percent every billion years,
which means that in about 1 billion years, Earth's oceans will evaporate and the surface
will become too hot for water to form, making it inhospitable for life as we know it." :o

 Apparently, more billions of people will have lived and died
before next generations experience the boiling frog syndrome.

"Designates drug cartels 'and others' as foreign terrorist organization."

"Ends birthright citizenship for illegal immigrants based on interpretation of 14th amendment."

"US policy is to recognize two genders: mate and female, which is based on biology
and not 'gender identity'. Federal funds shall not be used to promote gender ideology."

"Elephants can’t sue to leave the zoo, court rules" :o

 The court's focus should have been on donkeys during that administration,
leaving the elephants challenge for this new administration.

(Perplexity) "Generally, animals cannot directly sue in legal proceedings. However, there are some limited circumstances
where legal actions can be taken on behalf of animals ... these cases are typically brought by human representatives
acting on behalf of the animals, rather than the animals themselves directly initiating legal action. The legal status
of animals as property in most jurisdictions limits their ability to sue independently."

Perplexity's "Copper Farewell"

In open palm, this bronze fades slow,
A penny's worth now memory's glow.

Once minted hope, fortune's bright gleam,
Now tarnished by faux digital dream.

Forgotten in drawers, forgotten in trays,
Relic of commerce from bygone days.

Your copper heart, once jingling with pride,
Now whispers stories that slowly subside.

No more the luck of finding on street,
No more childhood joy, bittersweet.

A currency fading, soft as a sigh,
Old copper testament preparing to die.

Farewell, small coin, your journey near done,
Your legacy etched, your past battles won.

In pockets and memories, you'll softly recede,
A bittersweet ending - no more will you lead.

:sunflower: Perhaps, the languge of inclusivity is the greater problem. ;)

Q: Current pushback against recent promotion of inclusivity hints that societal inclusivity behavior has been less controversial
than the newly developing language of inclusivity (e.g., preferred pronouns). Had this language been better developed earlier,
current pushback may have been less significant.

(Perplexity) "Recent pushback against inclusivity efforts, particularly in the context of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and the use of gender-inclusive language, reflects a complex societal debate. While inclusivity in behavior has gained broader acceptance, the evolving language of inclusivity - such as the use of preferred pronouns - has proven more polarizing.

Pushback Against DEI and Inclusivity

Political and Corporate Rollbacks: DEI initiatives have faced significant opposition in the U.S., with companies like Walmart and McDonald's scaling back such programs due to customer backlash, legal concerns, and political pressure. President Trump has also signed executive orders dismantling DEI initiatives across federal agencies, amplifying the cultural shift against these policies.

Resistance to Pronoun Policies: The concept of preferred pronouns has sparked debate over free speech and personal beliefs. Critics argue that mandating pronoun usage imposes ideological conformity, with some educators and foster parents facing penalties for not adhering to such policies. This has led to legal battles and broader societal resistance.

Cultural and Linguistic Challenges: The introduction of gender-neutral or non-binary pronouns challenges traditional linguistic norms, particularly in languages with heavily gendered grammar. While some view this as necessary for inclusivity, others see it as confusing or ideologically driven.

Why Language Faces Greater Pushback

- Complexity and Perceived Coercion: Unlike behavioral inclusivity (e.g., hiring diverse candidates), language changes - such as adopting new pronouns - are seen by some as more intrusive or difficult to navigate. Critics argue that these changes can disrupt communication norms and create friction in professional and personal settings.

- Ideological Divides: The debate over pronouns often intersects with broader ideological conflicts about gender identity, free speech, and
biological essentialism. This polarizes public opinion more than general inclusivity efforts.

Could Better Development of Inclusive Language Reduce Pushback? Proponents of inclusive language argue that clearer communication strategies could mitigate resistance. For example:

- Education and Transparency: Providing resources on why inclusive language matters and how to implement it effectively could foster understanding.

- Gradual Adoption: Allowing time for societal adaptation to new linguistic norms might reduce perceptions of coercion or abrupt change.

In summary, while societal behaviors around inclusivity have seen progress, the evolving language of inclusivity remains contentious due to its perceived complexity, ideological implications, and challenges in implementation. A more deliberate approach to developing and communicating inclusive language might alleviate some resistance."

 Wondering what Perplexity would say about this ...

Q: Drag is not how most LGBTQ people behave in their daily lives, yet these performances suggest otherwise.

(P) "You're absolutely correct that drag performances do not represent how most LGBTQ people behave in their daily lives.
This is an important distinction to make. Drag is a form of performance art and entertainment, not a reflection of
typical LGBTQ lifestyle or behavior.
Key points to consider:

- Drag is performance: It's an exaggerated, theatrical form of expression, not meant to depict everyday life.

- Diversity within LGBTQ community: The LGBTQ community is incredibly diverse, with individuals from all walks of life,
professions, and personal styles.

- Misconceptions: Some people might mistakenly assume drag represents typical LGBTQ behavior, which can lead to stereotyping.

- Education is key: It's important to educate the public that drag is a specific art form, separate from the day-to-day lives
of most LGBTQ individuals.

- Media representation: Broader, more diverse representation of LGBTQ individuals in media can help counteract misconceptions.

You're right to point out this discrepancy. It highlights the need for continued education and diverse representation
to ensure a more accurate understanding of LGBTQ lives and experiences."

Re: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/health-fitn ... ing-40-60/

"Why the ageing process spikes at 44 and 60 (and how to stop it)"

“Type 2 diabetes is more prevalent as we get older as a result of a combination of increasing insulin resistance
and a reducing ability to make the right amount of insulin. Insulin resistance is where the insulin that is produced
does not work properly, and in older people, this could be due to being less physically active and more sedentary.

It’s not unusual to lose muscle with age, but this can make it harder for the cells to absorb glucose from the blood,
leading to higher blood glucose levels over time which increases the risk for Type 2 diabetes. A positive solution
would be to do strength-building exercises at least two days a week.”

Tip: Reducing carbs from less healthy foods is a necessary part of the solution. ;)

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech ... death.html
"First-ever recording of a dying human brain reveals what happens right before death"

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech ... brain.html
"Men and women really ARE wired differently"

 (especially since biological anatomy needs different wiring for functionality) ;)

"Overall, the female babies had more grey matter in their brains, while the males had more white matter.
Grey matter is mostly found on the outer-most layer of the brain, or cortex, and plays a big role in mental functions,
such as memory, emotions and processing information. Meanwhile, white matter speeds up signals between the cells
and plays a critical role in helping the body process information."

Q: What in the human brain causes sexual identity perception that does not complement given anatomy,
a brain that is neccesarily wired for the functionality of that anatomy?

(Perplexity) "The perception of sexual identity that does not align with given anatomy, despite the brain being wired for that anatomy's functionality, is a complex phenomenon known as gender incongruence or gender dysphoria. This mismatch is believed to arise from several factors related to brain development and structure:

- Developmental mismatch: The "mismatch hypothesis" suggests that there is a developmental discrepancy between sex determination and gender identity formation. While biological sex is determined at conception, brain development occurs later in gestation, allowing for potential divergence.

- Hormonal influences: The presence or absence of testosterone during fetal brain development plays a crucial role in shaping neural systems associated with typically male or female characteristics. Variations in hormone exposure may contribute to gender identity formation that differs from anatomical sex.

- Brain structure differences: Studies have identified structural differences in the brains of transgender individuals compared to cisgender controls: The right inferior fronto-occipital tract, which connects parietal and frontal brain areas involved in body perception, shows atypical patterns in transgender individuals. Certain brain structures in non-heterosexual individuals show a "cross-sex shift," with patterns more similar to those of the opposite sex.

- Genetic factors: While no single "gender identity gene" has been identified, research suggests that multiple genes may influence gender identity development. Heritability studies indicate a genetic component, but the exact mechanisms remain unclear.

- Neuroanatomical signatures: Transgender individuals show sex-typical fractional anisotropy (FA) values in most white matter tracts, except for the right inferior fronto-occipital tract. This suggests that the neuroanatomical basis of gender identity is related to brain areas processing self-perception and body ownership.

It's important to note that while the brain may be wired for certain anatomical functions, gender identity is a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors. The exact mechanisms leading to gender incongruence are still being researched, and our understanding continues to evolve."

 Thus, humans have two distinct identities: biological and gender perception (these often complement).
