"Meghan spent much of the conversation discussing the dangers of social media, drawing a bold comparison between online users and drug addicts ... 'People who are on social media are (drug) users.' "

 The difference between drugs and social media is that much social media usage is socially nurturing whereas even a small amount of drug usage is physically depleting and typically socially distancing. ;)

"Researchers At Large Hadron Collider Are Confident To Make Contact With Parallel Universe In Days"

"First researchers proved the existence of the mysterious Higgs boson 'God particle' - a key building block of the cosmos - and it's seemingly well on the thanks to revealing ‘dark matter’ - a previously untraceable theoretical prospect that's now believed to form up the foremost of matter within the universe."

 The 'God particle' is not related to the 'God gene' but the scientific perspective seems similar (God is a physical manifestation that can be proven by science). As for "parallel universe", many inhabited (not "parallel") universes may exist, given the enormity of the cosmos :!:

"Merriam-Webster dictionary's fifth definition of the word 'preference' cites 'orientation' and uses the example of 'sexual preference'.
On Wednesday, the definition was updated to explain the term is 'offensive'."

 While sexuality may not be a choice, how a person responds (acts) is a choice. For example, a bisexual person may choose to marry a person of the opposite sex and not have sexual relationships with the same sex. A straight celibate priest chooses to not have sexual relationships.

"Do We Live in a Simulation? Chances Are about 50–50"

"Maybe that’s why we can’t travel faster than the speed of light, because if we could, we’d be able to get to another galaxy"

 This "speed of light" discussion suggests that physical contact with another civilization will be limited to that within a certain proximity of the earth. And communication contact, while possible somewhat beyond that proximity, may be unrealistic because of the many years-long delay in sending and receiving. Of course, some communication ("channeling", divine inspiration, etc.) is a different "contact".

'I encourage everyone to continue to live the healthiest life they can,' she wrote. 'A balanced diet, fresh air, and vitamins really are vital to keep our bodies healthy.' "

 Nutritionists recommend getting most nutrients (including vitamins) from fresh foods not overcooked - not supplements. ;)

Re: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/arch ... at/528813/

"Infrared Saunas Will Not ‘Detoxify’ You"

"So I spoke with Dee Anna Glaser, a dermatology professor at St. Louis University and the president of the International Hyperhidrosis Society. Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for 'excessive sweating,' which basically means Glaser is a sweat expert. First I asked how she felt about the idea, in general, of toxins being released in sweat.

'In general,' she said, 'sweat can release some toxins and some chemicals, but that is not really sweat’s major job. The organs responsible for detoxifying our system are the kidneys and the liver. Those two do such a good job that, really, sweat doesn’t need to do that. So, for most people, sweating a lot does not detoxify them at all. Because the kidneys are doing it. Sweat’s main job is to keep us cool.' "

 Of course, for the kidneys to work well, lotsa water (makes steam in real saunas ; -) is required for good hydration of the body. ;)

"Hormel Foods is giving you a chance to win a Covid-19 mask that has the aroma of bacon."

Apparently, a mask meant to be worn in private since pork is offensive to some religious groups (and aroma wafts outward with breathing). What would happen if the mask was accidentally worn in a business or formal social interaction with a member of one of these groups?

"Stop Answering Your Kid’s Questions"

"It’s much better to take this opportunity to work on the important but much-neglected skill of trying to figure things out for yourself!"

 Of course, some - even many - questions can still be answered, but note the questions that provide "teachable moments" (when the child discovers the answer with their own research). Also note that the internet is a wild frontier of information - knowing how to find accurate and relative information is a skill that even adults struggle to acquire. :!:

Re: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/yeedi-r ... 07034.html

 Robot vacuums that wander around the house on a random path are fascinating but not that efficient. However, the technology is a good segue to real robots that will soon assist with household chores. In fact, start a service where humans wear a modern robot costume and perform as would a robot (tip: they're more human-like every year!). 8)

Of course, a gimmick, but there's opportunity to "train" humans to be comfortable with robot assistants, soon available for rent or purchase ... apparently. Then, your business will be positioned - with a good customer list - to rent/sell the real robots when they are marketed. :finger:

"The Rooftop Solar Scam and How to Get Rid of It"

"Solar only works during the day and best in the middle of the day." (and when the rooftop panels are clean ; - )

"it should be obvious that solar is a crooked scheme that only benefits the solar installation industry and homeowners that are participating in the racket. Having solar on your roof can be a burden. California solar users are climbing on their roofs to clean soot from their solar panels due to the recent fires. Having a loan secured by your home equity is a problem when it comes time to sell the house.

The industry uses sales tactics similar to the aluminum siding industry or the timeshare industry."

 At least, customer purchasing of solar panels promotes continuing research and development that is leading to cheaper, more efficient panels! As for rooftop installations, large roofs on commercial buildings seem best (as well as acres of panels in open fields, allowing customer investment shares). ;)

"When the government lifted the strict mask mandate over the summer, most people left theirs at home.
The virus was slowly starting to make a comeback." :o

 With today's expenses, $29.75 is comparable to a gift card left in a drawer for months!

"Cold water swimming may help defend from dementia by stimulating latent hibernation protein" 8)

"When hibernating animals — including hedgehogs, bears and squirrels — bed down for the winter the protein sparks the removal of 20 to 30 per cent of their synapses. But by the spring, it activates the miraculous regrowth of these links as the animals stir."

"But she warned cold water immersion is certainly not a possible dementia treatment because the risks of plummeting temperatures could far outweigh the benefits." ;)

with impressive regrowth after hibernation (real hibernation - not post-party slumber).

Re: https://qz.com/152384/japans-plan-to-su ... -the-moon/

"Shimizu, a Japanese architectural and engineering firm, has a solution for the climate crisis:

Simply build a band of solar panels 400 kilometers (249 miles) wide running all the way around the Moon’s 11,000-kilometer (6,835 mile) equator and beam the carbon-free energy back to Earth in the form of microwaves, which are converted into electricity at ground stations."

 Good imagination for a massive moon ring, but how practical ...
considering that this decade's offerings of solar panels have limited lifespans (replaced by new technology) :?:

 Best guess: Ubiquitous, earth-based solar panels - of all sizes - will capture solar energy
and will soon complement the many less-energy-dependent devices. :finger:

Re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bingbot

"Bingbot is a web-crawling robot (type of internet bot), deployed by Microsoft October 2010 to supply Bing. It collects documents from the web to build a searchable index for the Bing (search engine). It performs the same function as Google's Googlebot."

 This refers to automated document discovery (from web pages) that is often the reason that your new web page/document is soon found by a search engine. Similar to spy satellites, but most sites want their content to be discovered ... quickly and before the content of other sites. ;)

Internet content is getting so massive that individuals will soon prefer to send their personal bots on special overnight missions to collect information from wherever and deliver their reports when you awaken for the day. :roll
