"These People Want to Convince Everyone That Looting Is A-Okay"

 Interesting word, "looting", since "stealing" is the reality. ;)
But "looting" better associates with "spoils of war" or "pirating".

 Somehow this redefinition of the act seems to parallel
modern redefinition of gender (no longer just "male" or "female").
Who can tell?! There might be a Looting sub-gender.

Contemplation of Straight and Curvy Genders

:study: Re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender

"The concept of gender, in the modern sense, is a recent invention in human history. The ancient world had no basis of understanding gender as it has been understood in the humanities and social sciences for the past few decades."

 Apparently, in the pre-modern eras, it was not so important how people related to their given parts ... or, rather, how they related was their private business (thus the origin of "privates"?). Obviously, the term "gender" became necessary when privates became more public again (way way back, before fig leaves, privates were always public!). ;)

 Therefore, "gender" must have been invented so that people could verbally reveal how they related to their parts and how they related to the parts of others. Yet, even today, some privates are still not so public ... fortunately (helps us remember what are "privates"). And now there are dozens of terms to help us precisely verbalize how we relate to our things, physically attached or embedded.

 Apparently, the ancients had more important things to verbalize.

"Grandmother shows off 24-year-old McDonald's burger kept in closet that she says has not rotted" :o

 Like most consumer goods, preservatives then were probably better than today!
However, a granny with buns still in the closet seems more controversial.

Re: https://www.yahoo.com/news/china-just-c ... 17849.html

"it’s really the algorithms that matter most to the company, and anyone who buys it. These are the magic formulae that tell the app which data points will predict future behavior, and keep you staring at the phone longer. If you linger on hip-hop videos and swipe past cooking tips, then chances are you’ll be seeing more lip-synced DJ Khalid and fewer turkey-stuffing recipes. Speech and text recognition allow TikTok to peer deeper into content to extract a better sense of what’s being said and written."

"Facebook Inc., Snap Inc. and Alphabet Inc. are among those pouring billions of dollars into better predicting user behavior. This is the bread and butter of search-engine results and timeline feeds, helping them sell more-targeted ads at higher prices."

 Note the subtlety of "predicting user behavior": Mass usage is determining how apps direct your behavior online! ... and for commercial purposes (like advertising). However, the average person will have times when they don't want to Mooo so much (follow the herd). :duh

:!: :!: Entrepreneur Alert: Create apps that do not depend on predicted behavior ...
or at least create a "No Mo' Mooo" option for occasional dalliance outside the pen. 8)

 Apparently, younger people like to Mooo often ... and louder!
You can hear them like clockwork: "TikTok .. TikTok ..."

:bana: Speaking of advertising and Mooo ...

Masks are a necessary reality (hopefully, months - not years) - notice all that wasted advertising space!
Masks could be given free for all the advertising they could generate (both local and national). ;)

 And matching shirts, jewelry, or whatever can create an ensemble!
Or share a message: "Be kind to the elderly - they're your future!"

"Unlike other forms of electricity generation, like nuclear plants or coal plants, there doesn’t seem to be any foresight on how to deal with the waste that will be generated when solar panels and wind turbines reach the end of their short lifetimes. Remember, nuclear plants can run for 80 years, as can coal plants with proper maintenance and upkeep, but even the best wind turbines and solar panels* will last for just 25 years, creating staggering amounts of waste products."

:sunflower: "Recycling" will be a good career field for decades
while we learn how to improve climate change solutions. :duh

Energy business models will need to include disposal options
instead of "just dump it in the trash (or ocean)".

* Most likely, older (not "old") solar panels will be discarded
if the house roof they're on is replaced before panels "retire". :o

:study: Re: https://www.sciencealert.com/study-link ... hromosomes

" 'Ultra-Processed' Junk Food Linked to Advanced Ageing at Cellular Level"

"Ultra-processed foods are industrially manufactured substances composed of some mix of oils, fats, sugars, starch, and proteins that contain little if any whole or natural foods. They often include artificial flavourings, colourings, emulsifiers, preservatives, and other additives that increase shelf-life and profit margins. These same properties, however, also mean that such foods are nutritionally poor compared to less processed alternatives" :(

 Interesting discussion about telomeres (proteins on the end of chromosomes) and their relationship to aging, suggesting that a diet of less ultra-processed (and less over-cooked) food is better for a healthier and longer life. (faux meats seem to categorize as "ultra-processed") ;)

"Research has repeatedly proved that students from wealthy families score higher on the SAT and ACT,
compared to students from low-income families."

 In the past, this suggested that these scores were higher because those students were better educated. California's new admission policy may now require first year remedial education - in college - to help unprepared students quickly achieve an education level formerly represented by SAT and ACT scores; else "lowest common denominator" may become the new guidance for college admissions. :(

 A California college degree might become less representative of quality education, requiring post-college testing for some jobs. :o

"Scientists are giving DIY coronavirus vaccines to themselves and sometimes to friends, family"

"Proponents have welcomed the idea of going outside the normal regulatory process, given the extraordinary circumstances of the pandemic. But critics say these DIY vaccines are not being put to the test of placebo-controlled studies and could have unforeseen negative consequences. Jeffrey Kahn, the director of the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, said that encouraging others to take DIY vaccines risks going back to the 'days of patent medicine and quackery,' a time in which remedies were sold with false promises."

:bana: Just imagine! Science is getting so advanced that a true Do It Yourself vaccine kit could be available some day! Hopefully, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will also be available to comment on your immune system upgrade proposal. Or inject the (stuff) and see what happens!
But don't expect medical insurance to pay for mistakes ... and you might require isolation more extreme than for COVID-19.

 Sadly for the media(?), there won't be much need for anti-mask, anti-distance protests (that keep the virus spreading) with so many vaccines about to be marketed! Naturally, protesting will segue to anti-vaccine next. After that, probably anti-next-President (regardless of winner). ;)

:duh Slowly, it's becoming clear that these coronavirus protests are all about numbers ... and that the BLM signs can be recycled for the next pandemic where a Billion Lives Matter (number of people that must die - worldwide - before the pandemic is believable).

Of course, this ad couldn't run because it disciminated against happy and friendly stylists. :duh

"the mother of a USC student said: ‘This is political wokeness gone mad. Professor Patton was teaching students
about Chinese business culture and how the expression ‘nee-gah’ is often used as a pause in negotiations."

:duh Indeed! "Wokeness gone mad"! [this two-character Chinese word means "that",
and sounds slightly similar to the offensive English word] :o

Students who weren't paying attention to the lecture (Chinese culture)
might have misunderstood the professor's use of this term.
