Re: https://draxe.com/nutrition/black-garlic/

Interesting contrast of raw and black (heat-aged) garlic!
:idea: Choose raw garlic for the allicin + Vitamin C benefit;
choose black garlic for intensified antioxidants and flavor. ;)

More about China's coronavirus ...

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... nimal.html

"Rodents and bats among other animals are slaughtered and sold in traditional 'wet markets', which tourists flock to see the 'real' side of the country. Bats are used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat a series of illnesses, including coughing, Malaria and Gonorrhea. The animal's faeces is also believed to be able to cure eye diseases, according to ancient Chinese medical masterpiece Ben Cao Gang Mu."

 While many Chinese herbs have long been the proven pathway to good health,
creatures 'n critters (and their parts) might be more culinary vodoo than medicinal.

About the Chinese coronavirus, now reported to be uncontrollable because of it spreading before symptoms appear ...

 Face masks (for breathing protection) are getting all the attention but disposable gloves also seem important :!: A constant supply of gloves and/or disinfectant hand wipes (especially for all the public handles) may be the necessary daily norm until this virus stops spreading. A trash container in the car would be helpful for these used wipes (aka "contaminated").

Most important: Keep your used-in-public hands away from your face :!:

Re: https://halturnerradioshow.com/index.ph ... -100-years

"the coronavirus can live on surfaces; for as few as five days, and as long as 28 days. So people who are sick, and who touch store counters, products on store shelves, DOOR HANDLES in public places, or who use public bathrooms, leave the virus on all those things, and the virus lives to infect others for 5 to 28 days.

Further, packages you receive via the Post Office, FedEx, UPS, Amazon or other companies, CAN HAVE VIRUS ON THEM if an infected person handled them, coughed or sneezed on them. The package arrives, you open it and now have the virus on your hands. If you touch your face, mouth or nose . . . or pick up a sandwich and eat it after touching it with your hands, POW, you're infected." :(

 A simple solution for received packages is to open them carefully, discard the packaging immediately, then wash hands thoroughly (and surfaces where the package was opened). Now is a good time to start practicing 2019-nCoV hygiene while the virus might be incubating in a neighborhood near you! And NEVER touching your face before washing your used-in-public hands seems the required norm until the virus is gone (conditions must be right for the virus to live on surfaces for so long). ;)

Finally (since viruses have been threatening for decades), only a small percentage of the population will be seriously affected* ... yet it's polite to not be a carrier  . * 15% is not so small with this virus :!:

 OMG! All the packaged items (especially warm ones) in a store might have been handled by someone with the virus - even sneezed upon! ... just in case you're wondering "what else?! to worry about". Same simple solution: Wash hands often! ;)

 Did you know that disposable masks are supposed to fit tightly on your face? ... and often have a metal strip across the nose for this purpose (press against your nose so that the mask conforms to the shape of your nose). Neither should air enter from the side of the mask if there's an opening (tape may be the best solution for this). :finger:

LOL (but it's not funny): Using a push basket in grocery stores helps maintain distance from others, especially at the checkout counter.

 My current opinion about the coronavirus ...

Despite the alarming world news, this virus is not that much deadlier than many flu viruses! (especially problematic for the young, elderly, and those with certain medical conditions). The greater problem with this virus seems that symptoms do not appear quickly, permitting the infected to share their misfortune earlier. :(

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... hours.html

 (the following is a collection of facts about this virus) ...

"Coronaviruses are named after the Latin word 'corona', which means crown, because they are encased
by a spiked shell which resembles a royal crown."

'Until this new coronavirus was identified, there were only six different coronaviruses known to infect humans. Four of these cause a mild common cold-type illness, but since 2002 there has been the emergence of two new coronaviruses that can infect humans and result in more severe disease (Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) coronaviruses)." :(

"Coronaviruses in general tend to originate in animals – the similar SARS and MERS viruses are believed to have originated in civet cats and camels, respectively. The first cases of the virus in Wuhan came from people visiting or working in a live animal market in the city, which has since been closed down for investigation. Although the market is officially a seafood market, other dead and living animals were being sold there, including wolf cubs, salamanders, snakes, peacocks, porcupines and camel meat."

"Bats are a prime suspect – researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences said in a recent statement: 'The Wuhan coronavirus' natural host could be bats … but between bats and humans there may be an unknown intermediate.' And another scientific journal article has suggested the virus first infected snakes, which may then have transmitted it to people at the market in Wuhan. Peking University researchers analysed the genes of the coronavirus and said they most closely matched viruses which are known to affect snakes." :o

"So far the fatalities are quite low. Why are health experts so worried about it? Experts say the international community is concerned about the virus because so little is known about it and it appears to be spreading quickly. Experts say it is likely only the most seriously ill patients are seeking help and are therefore recorded – the vast majority will have only mild, cold-like symptoms. For those whose conditions do become more severe, there is a risk of developing pneumonia which can destroy the lungs and kill you."

Apparent quick summary: 2019-nCoV is easily transmitted, but symptoms are typically mild ... unless pneumonia develops :!:
(another web page mentioned that a prior pneumonia vaccination is helpful)

who was dropping used paper towels inside the bathroom door. "I'm that slob!" he confessed.
"I use them to open the door by the handle that might be contaminated with the flu."

Re: https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/peta- ... -companion

"Referring to an animal as a 'pet' or as 'it' reduces a sentient being with a personality and emotions to an inanimate object - a possession to be used in any way the 'owner' wishes. Contrary to some reports, we are not seeking to ban these words; we're simply suggesting that it would be more respectful to refer to the animals in our homes as 'animal companions' and ourselves as their 'guardians' ...

in the same way that all social movements concerned with cultivating respect have made appeals to stop using terms
that are racist or sexist or that otherwise imply that the subject is less important than the speaker"

 Who knew :?: :!: That these "animal companions" know the meanings of terms (in various languages). :o

 Considering recent social trends, a pet might now be called a "dog-person", "cat-person", "bird-person",
or even "pig-person" with their sexual identity unknown (not assumed) until indicated by their behavior.
Reference books (or videos) could help identify sentient beings who do not publicly exhibit identity.
