Seemingly, "trans" people have always existed - the greater problem may be that "male" and "female" have been so rigidly defined for centuries. This suggests that Darwinism is a perpetuating influence: people, like animals and plants, have to be rigidly categorized ...
with no "in-between" possibilities.

On the other hand, how can the decidely "male" and "female" persons know how to identify the others with so many new terms (and more being created every year)? Perhaps, the non-males/females have societal obligation to publicly self-identify if they wish to be known by their preferred orientation and its current term.

New (and surreal) introductions:
"Hi! I'm Rhonda, male.", "Hi! I'm Rhoda, trans male.", "Hi! I'm Zelda, non-binary.",
"Hi! I'm Max, female.", "Hi! I'm Beever, fluid.", "Hi! I'm Sassy, non-conforming."
