:study: More about lava domes vs impact craters ...

Re: http://www.b14643.de/Tektites/

"It is urgently necessary to brake the currently raging impact crater hysteria. With the help of meanwhile established criteria
many impact-events became postulated, mostly too quickly and not sufficiently examined."

... Albeit, the asteroid theory is more exciting than "dinosaurs ate themselves to death". ;)

:study: More about lava domes vs impact craters ...

 The deaths of dinosaurs due to slowly increasing food shortage would have occurred over a longer period of time
than the deaths of dinosaurs due to sudden environmental impact causing rapidly increasing food shortage;
i.e., the relative ages of dinosaur bones should be a significant clue. :finger:

 Of course, a volcanic eruption and an asteroid hit both occur in a short period of time,
but an asteroid hit is relatively instantaneous compared to a volcanic eruption. ;)
And volcanic ash is more likely to cause sun-darkening for years!

:roll Time to wrap up the dinosaur demise ...

(from 120 to 60 million years ago) "These massive creatures became less active and strong as they grew larger and larger; but they required such an enormous amount of food and the land was so overrun by them that they literally starved to death and became extinct — they lacked the intelligence to cope with the situation." (UB, 60:2.3)

Re: https://www.space.com/what-killed-dinos ... anoes.html

"The asteroid or comet that smacked into Earth 66 million years ago might not be the only culprit behind the dinosaurs' demise. Two new studies in the journal Science examine the possible connection between this impact (Chicxulub Crater) and huge volcanic eruptions in India, on the opposite side of the world.''

 Analysis: Although the largest dinosaurs were becoming extinct by 66 million years ago, volcanoes and the Chicxulub asteroid coincidentally seem to explain their demise. That smaller dinosaurs evolved long past the 66-million-years-ago asteriod seems historically insignificant. And the competing "Chicxulub asteroid" or "lava dome" theories are still competing ... apparently.

:roll Time to wrap up the dinosaur demise (again) ...

"95,000,000 years ago the American and European land masses again began to sink. The southern seas commenced the invasion of North America and gradually extended northward to connect with the Arctic Ocean, constituting the second greatest submergence of the continent." (60:3.5)

(70,000,000 years ago) "This was an age of volcanic activity all over the world, giving rise to numerous small isolated volcanic cones." (60:3.15)

 These two quotes best describe the geologic ups and down (literally, as in "submerged land") occurring frequently during those many millions of years while life was evolving upon the lands and in the seas. Whether or not Chicxulub was caused by an asteroid, land submergence and volcanic activity (causing decreased sunlight) seem to be the greater causes of plants' and animals' disappearance. ;)

Re: https://www.nbcnews.com/mach/science/we ... cna1062176

"In the next decade or so, it’s entirely possible that you’ll see a headline announcing that NASA has found evidence of life in space."

"In your superuniverse not one cool planet in forty is habitable by beings of your order. And, of course, the superheated suns and the frigid outlying worlds are unfit to harbor higher life. In your solar system only three planets are at present suited to harbor life. Urantia, in size, density, and location, is in many respects ideal for human habitation." (UB, 15:6.15)

 So ... microbial life might be discovered, especially on these three unidentified planets, but existence - past or current - of human-like beings seems unlikely ... given the implantation of life on Urantia by the local universe Life Carriers:

"Life does not originate spontaneously. Life is constructed according to plans formulated by the (unrevealed) Architects of Being and appears on the inhabited planets either by direct importation or as a result of the operations of the Life Carriers of the local universes. These carriers of life are among the most interesting and versatile of the diverse family of universe Sons. They are intrusted with designing and carrying creature life to the planetary spheres." (36:0.1)

:study: Reflecting on the New Testament ...

For perspective, whereas the UB presents what Jesus taught,
the New Testament presents what people say Jesus taught.
Whereas most controversy about the UB is its source(s),
what Jesus actually taught is rarely disputed. ;)

 Simply stated ...
The New Testament is the religion about Jesus - the UB reveals the religion of Jesus.
Study the UB Part IV to learn about Jesus and what he actually taught ...
then study the New Testament to learn about Christianity.

What Did Jesus Teach? (a UB study aid)
Re: http://aitnaru.org/images/WDJT.zip

 Created several years ago, this collection of UB Papers 119-196
and the preceding topics of what Jesus taught is designed
for use with a computer browser.

 Unzip files into a preferred folder and click on WDJT.html to view.
Use the browser's features to navigate on this single large page.
Click on blue UB Paper:section.paragraph (P:S.p) to go there,
then use browser's back arrow to return.

Files do not contain executable code, like Javascript. 8)

:geek: Geometer's secret ...

The beginning geometric design features
Quadrature with circle-squaring right triangles
where ratio of hypotenuse to long side = 2/sqrt(Pi).

OMG! It was impossible to create another fish design,
such is the nature of random word generation for a Cloud.
So, the second Cloud might be considered a "mural".

:sunflower: A third Word Cloud was added. :roll

These Word Clouds have a certain "je ne sais quoi"
... if you like computer-generated art.

But true artists might say that "je ne sais quoi"
and "computer art" is an oxymoron. ;)

Sandy,

The shape of the Wordle design remains random; a fish shape is quite a catch! ;)
I caught the two best fish shapes in three hours of fishin'. :D

:geek: Crafter's secret: The two dates in the word list are ...
Aug 21, 7 BC - Jesus' birth day, Apr 9, AD 30 - Jesus' resurrection day.

Morning musing about Wordle designs and other creativity ...

 If feedback in other venues is an indicator, the new teacher(s) of Jesus' message
will not be among those currently associated with formal Urantia groups ...
since the Urantia Book itself seems to be the preferred message. ;)

8) About Wordle ...
There are 7 designs with words selected for "The Good News" theme. :roll

"The aye-aye, also known as a long-fingered lemur, gets a bad rap for its strange appearance. But a new study has revealed the nocturnal mammal has one feature that has surprised researchers — the first 'pseudothumb' ever found in a primate."

"The newly published research notes that aye-ayes, native to Madagascar, have a tiny structure comprised of bone and cartilage. It also has muscles around it 'that allows it to move in three directions - much the same way that human thumbs move'" 8)

From the Urantia Papers ...

"Certain African tribes teach that they are descended from the hyena, a Malay tribe from the lemur" (74:8.5)

"The great event of this glacial period was the evolution of primitive man. Slightly to the west of India, on land now under water and among the offspring of Asiatic migrants of the older North American lemur types, the dawn mammals suddenly appeared. These small animals walked mostly on their hind legs, and they possessed large brains in proportion to their size and in comparison with the brains of other animals." (61:6.1)

"A little more than one million years ago the Mesopotamian dawn mammals, the direct descendants of the North American lemur type of placental mammal, suddenly appeared. They were active little creatures, almost three feet tall; and while they did not habitually walk on their hind legs, they could easily stand erect. They were hairy and agile and chattered in monkeylike fashion, but unlike the simian tribes, they were flesh eaters. They had a primitive opposable thumb as well as a highly useful grasping big toe. From this point onward the prehuman species successively developed the opposable thumb while they progressively lost the grasping power of the great toe. The later ape tribes retained the grasping big toe but never developed the human type of thumb." (62:2.1)

Thanks Rod,

That was very interesting. :D :sunflower:
It is great to see another "nod" to the information recorded in the Urantia book. 8)

 About the aye-aye lemur's pseudothumb ...

More evidence than "thumb" will be needed to convince anthropologists that humans are descended from lemurs,
but the UB's revelation - 65 years ago - that lemurs had thumbs (albeit, pseudothumb) is noteworthy! 8)

Re: https://www.livescience.com/32503-why-h ... umans.html

"While we were migrating around the globe, inventing agriculture and visiting the moon, chimpanzees —
our closest living relatives — stayed in the trees, where they ate fruit and hunted monkeys."

Obviously ... since humans were never in the Monkey Model evolutionary tree
(explaining "why haven't all primates evolved into humans?"). ;)
