In climate change news, the pooh of mooo is a bit askew ... apparently:

Re:

"Our food system accounts for between 25 and 30 per cent of greenhouse gases,
and is choking the life from fresh and coastal waterways with excess nitrogen."

It's widely reported - for years - that "excess nitrogen" is typical runoff from plant fields heavily applied with fertilizer (not mooo pooh).
To be fair, these statistics (or conjecture) should include only plants grown to feed animals as well as their contribution (their mooo pooh).
And some plants (e.g., corn) are grown for conversion to fuel for vehicles (also contributes to climate change via carbon emissions).

Re:
https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/source ... -emissions
Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Agriculture 2017 - 9% ... and not 25 -30%
"Human activities are responsible for almost all of the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere over the last 150 years.
The largest source of greenhouse gas emissions from human activities in the United States is from burning fossil fuels
for electricity, heat, and transportation." [we should note that transportation of green food is still "transportation"]

Seems to me, while climate change is a very complex topic (and problem),
misdirecting attention (e.g., to the food system) is not so helpful.

I favor vegetarian diets because they're healthy and provide good nutrients
- not because these diets can significantly reduce climate change.
But we can all vote for the same thing for different reasons!
