In the Condemned I Give Life

Post any poetry here. It's just too hard to define "inspired" in this context, so we will settle for that which inspires.

In the Condemned I Give Life

Post by overmind »

This was a present state of awareness.
It was and is my dedication.
I am thoroughly drawn to serving.
And when it came time to call on my name,
I stood at the podium of chance and destiny.
And it was there I gazed into the eyes of God.
The great blackness of His timelessness and the furrows of eternity.
Here I knew peace and the epitome of restlessness.
Change. Progression.
I am everything. I am dust. I am speechless.

And the Lord sayeth: “Perfect thyself my son,
For you are the salt of the earth,
The fruit of the vine
And the light which enflames the candle!”

But if I spoketh such writ word,
Tongues stood flaming and twisted.
Twixt the moral word
And betwixt poor mores of man,
I am unleavened bread unfit for taste,
A flat stone to walk upon.
But I have evolved a jagged edge to trample.
I am wholly unclean and camouflaged
Amidst the dust of the earth
And the crumbling reality of thy crows of wit.

To God I spoketh: “My Lord,
I am but dust beneath thy feet,
The unsalted meat to spoil,
The fruit late for picking,
And a mere dying ash drifting.”

Inside stood insecurity in response to authority,
And the higher it stands,
The lower I felt inside and out.
All due to the responses of life and death moments of servitude.
The viciousness of survival overtook my character.
My reason a response to reality and vision.
But the darkness of infinity swallowed my sorrows.
Black ate black.
Fire burned away torch, sun and star.
Hades watching in disbelief as life won my soul.
The hands of God poured living waters upon the earth,
And my light and shadow flickered with excitement.
I saw numbers and wheels of light in motion.
Wheels of wheels in unison breathing.
And this, a part of my existence and experience,
Was a fragment of great imagination.
All my life I had sought to be the moon,
Gifting the world with light in times of darkness,
And my Creator and my God stood by to grant this.

And the Lord sayeth: “Here lies the Light of my Sons.
Take and you shall be healed.
Give and you shall be thrice rewarded.
My river is yours to share, know and live!”

So my shackles I shed to serve,
For such troubles are nothing I now know.
They are petals of dark flowers wilted,
Blown off by a mighty gust.
But the gust so strong only lifted me forward
Until assured I was in my possession of wings.
And there was no view much grander
Than soaring above poisoned tongues aflame.

This was my "no rules, all feeling" poem, and I hope you like it.
