Today's prompt (they woke me up!)

Post by Patti1111 »

Knock, knock, knock!

Front door, loud. Grr. We're on school break this week, and as a teacher, I would like to SLEEP!!!

I can hear the guy shouting, "Delivery" outside my door. Nope, the new chair is not to be delivered until Friday.

Hmmm. :?

Grab robe, stumble downstairs, out the back door, open the gate to let him in . . . sign for letter, back inside, open it up . . .

Quick bit of background: I'm an American who has been living here (UK) for many years, working as a teacher. This is my newest visa, which allows me to continue to stay (if I continue to teach in a shortage area). Big grin, of course, when I opened it and saw my new biometrics ID card (which means approval!), but I laughed out loud when I noted the expiration date -- if I don't renew it, I'd have to ship back to the States on . . . 11 November (11-11) next year.

What makes it even funnier is that it seems to be just a totally random date -- I have NO idea how they got it. It isn't xx number of months or years from application date (I applied on the 5th of January), it doesn't match up with when I arrived (that was 27 August a few years back), it isn't xx months from approval date (the visa is effective from 15 February), it doesn't match up with when the last one was due to expire (that was the 20th of March) . . . nothing . . .

Hi Patti!
I laughed out loud at your post. ou have such a wonderful sense of humor. I throughly enjoyed hearing about this wonderful 11/11 prompt you received. As a person who has gone through the filing and agonizing waiting of three visas which allow me to live in Australia with my husband, I want to tell you congratulations! Its a good day to celebrate! :sunflower:
Love,
Sandy
