All the facts about this virus make it clear that, until society has sufficient immunity, it will keep spreading ... especially without meaningful social distancing (and masks, etc.). A tolerable societal goal, apparently, will be to keep the severe complications from overwhelming local medical resources. And if you're "at risk", do according to your confidence and desire to survive.

Good info about masks and subtle emphasis on how the virus often transmits (breathing infected air):

How the virus transmits has been controversial, with surfaces given the earlier focus,
but opinion seems to be shifting to breathing infected air as the greater problem.

While important for everyone, quality masks may be more effective for preventing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 (aka "COVID-19")
than for preventing contraction of it. Consider: Eyes and face of a person wearing only a mask are also exposed in a "cloud"
of infected droplets caused by cough, sneeze, or close breathing.
