Hi Kim,
I've been reading Gary Z McGee's writing and thoughts for a long time. To me he is part of the spiritual awakening occurring on this planet that deals with discovering Truth, particularly beneath those aspects of reality that cloak true meanings and the intent of those who would rule. In that light it seemed to me that his choices were all focused on revealing truth's that are obscured and stimulating those of questioning mind. This is not necessarily what most people think of when they use the term 'spirituality' but I suggest that is the root of many journeys that lead to spiritual awakening.
That make sense?

Thanks for the explanation Welles. Most of the pieces were familiar to me, not necessarily evoking a sense for spiritual growth, but did prompt me try to figure out what McGee was meaning to convey. After rereading and contemplating each, mostly I was left perplexed, trying to grasp his intent for using those particular poems. Chalked it up to perspective, as in each of us seeing things from our own.
Now I think about it, it may have been my own expectations that led to the confusion. The simplicity of Sufi poetry has really resonated with me of late, probably because of my belief that the answers do not have to be so complicated. Emotional, political and spiritual snarls of life seem to surround me lately.
Thank you again for sharing so many thought provoking articles!
