The Voice — by Shel Silverstein

There is a voice inside of you
that whispers all day long,
'I feel that this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong.'
No teacher, preacher, parent, friend
or wise man can decide
what's right for you - just listen to
the voice that speaks inside.

I’ve witnessed the voice crumble into incoherent noise. Dying, detached and confused... frantically fighting to hold on to that ball of static thought of as ones existence, struggling as it slowly shrinks and fades into darkness. Surely it’s cessation would mean death.
...Maybe it was the will to live that kept it from dissapearing completely.

Perhaps, Eric,
This voice cannot ever be silenced for all time... that, in fact, maybe what is truly true and goodness lies beyond life and death, silence and noise. It just is and is always within the grasp of anyone who takes hold...It matters not, I am thinking, how many times our hand slips...just that we continue to reach for it. That effort will forever in eternity I think be enough.
Love,
Sandy
