Ancient Days

Can you remember the ancient days?
Do you remember the ancient ways?
Enslaved to tradition and taboo,
Everything to be done just so,
Everybody was afraid to grow,
Lest the ghost of the dead come and lay you low,
If you don't do everything just so.

So this is why they came to us,
A people cannot be left so lame,
A people cannot be left in shame.
They taught us how to tame the beasts,
They taught us how to till the soil,
They taught us how to mine the ore,
And they taught us so much more.

They taught us that peace brings strength,
By working together we do so much more,
Living in peace we need not be in fear,
For God is our Father and we are all kin,
The Lord is within us as we are in Him.
For Eternal Life but one thing is needed,
Faith in the Lord to follow His leading.

The Enemy looked down and he was not pleased,
The Enemy likes to keep all things bleak.
So the Enemy came up with a sinister plot,
He would discredit the Leader of the pack.
The Enemy would seek to lure him,
Then the Enemy would surely trick him,
So the Enemy would soon be rid of him.

The Leader was firm and strong to resist,
So the Enemy went for his woman instead.
He lured her with promises of glorious success,
And caused her to break the Covenant instead.
The Leader, seeing what his woman had done,
Wailed in grief, then joined her in sin.
"From dust have you come, and dust shall you be."

The Celestial life was in an uproar,
A hostile army was on the march,
And the angel shouted "Get out of that tree!"
The Leader found that he was but a man,
And he must tread this world as best as he can,
So he gathered his children and summoned his friends,
And he left the garden all to his foes.

Three days later the caravan was stopped,
And three fourths of his children departed this world,
To Celestial Eden, Wards of the Most High.
A dismal caravan forged on ahead,
Coming to Babel with the river in flood.
By the sweat of your brow shall you eat of the fields,
And do what you can to better the world.

Thank you Roger! I enjoyed that! :D I cannot imagine the heart break these guys endured...loosing their home missing their children. But they grew strong and able to meet what mortal life required, providing a valuable inspiration for their offspring throughout history.
Have a great week end!
love,
Sandy
