 Who knew? #1
Tiger Nut Paleo Pudding (as a base) is best as:
Whisk 1 cup plain kefir, 2/3 cup Tiger Nut Flour,
and 1/2 tsp organic vanilla; refrigerate. 8)

 Who knew? #2a
To preserve a cut avocado longer (hours not days),
cut one in half, sprinkle nut side lightly with sugar,
wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate. 8)

 Who knew? #2b
To cut an avocado in half, cut vertically with knife cutting in a circle
around avocado but not into the nut. Twist halves in opposite direction
(nut remains in one half). Use spoon to scoup out flesh. ;)

Cornmeal Mush Al Dente

Polenta (coarsely ground corn) is normally simmered 1 cup polenta to 4 cups water.
This diabetes-friendly* method reduces water to 3 cups and starts with cold water.

* Slightly-chewy, coarse grains digest slower for better blood sugar control. 8)

:roll Ingredients:

1 cup polenta
3 cups water
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup diced onion
3 tbsp dried parsley
2 tbsp olive oil (or butter)

 Directions:

in a medium saucepan, rinse polenta (carefully pour off water),
then add 3 cups water and bring to a soft boil.

Reduce heat and simmer 20 min, stirring frequently.

Stir in diced onion and remaining ingredients, simmer 10 min.,
then remove pan from heat, stir, cover and let cool.

 Tip: Serve topped with shredded cheddar cheese,

:bana: Accidental pursuit of The Naughty Nog & Nog's Grog ...

Re: https://www.dictionary.com/e/eggnog/

 "One theory is that nog derives from the word noggin, which was a Middle English word for a type of mug for serving alcohol. The Online Etymology Dictionary says nog means 'strong ale.' A third theory claims that the name is derived from a Colonial term for rum: egg-and-grog. Shortened to egg’n’grog, it then eventually became eggnog."

Re: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/noggin

 "a small cup or mug; a small amount of alcoholic liquor, usually a gill." ;)

Re: The Urantia Book, Paper 67, Section 5, Paragraph 5

Re: https://www.themanual.com/food-and-drin ... th-eggnog/

 Based on the simplicity of Three Kings Brandy Eggnog*,
themanual's "How to Make Eggnog" might also be simplified:

6 large eggs
8 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup white granulated sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup cognac

* recipe in "From a Monastery Kitchen", p. 157

;) Tips: Buy a hearty bottle of cognac since this recipe redo
will require experimentation (let family and friends help); 8)
increase cognac as desired but limited by discretion.

"Ketogenic diets are low on carbs and high on fat, which puts the body in a state of ketosis,
a metabolic state that happens when your body doesn’t have enough carbohydrates
for your cells to burn for energy. So, instead, it burns fat." (your own and fat you eat)

"Basically, with this (Paleo) diet you’re looking at meals that could either be hunted or gathered —
lean meats, fish, vegetables, nuts and seeds" (hunting/gathering in grocery stores permitted) :roll

"The Alkaline diet approves of most fruits and vegetables, nuts, legumes, soybeans and tofu.
These are foods that are alkaline" (the animal friendly diet)

"Whole30 encourages people to eat foods with as few ingredients as possible, and all those ingredients
should be substances you know and can pronounce. A head of broccoli? Go for it." (3 syllables) ;)

"Think of the Flexitarian diet as vegetarian with a lot of cheat days." (food cheatin')

"An extraordinarily dramatized version of his (Lectin-free) theory is that plants are waging war
against us so we don’t eat them and we’re too dumb to adjust our diets." ("Feed me Seymore")

The Mediterranean diet "encourages a glass of red wine every now and then."
(probably not true: "now" = afternoon, "then" = evening)

Then there's Dumpster Diving, Eat What You Want, Go to Mom's House,
Dollar Store, and the Fast Life (don't eat) diets. 8)

Hi, Amigo! :hithere
Winter Sunflower Cake sounds intriguing. Believe the first recipe would be more to my liking. Do you suppose I could substitute my own oatmeal cookie recipe, replacing half the sugar with stevia, and achieve about the same results?

Lol! Listening to "Ahi Viene El Sol" while waiting, would definitely enhance the experience!

Kim,

My plan was to find a cake-like recipe that would make use of sunflower seeds.
The Cookie Mix was a convenient starter - the other ingredients "followed".
As a diabetic, the less flour(s) was important (why polenta was tried next),
but the "Ahi Viene El Sol" concept hints that many versions will be good :!:

 Perhaps a traditional remembrance of the Beatles ...

For example, instead of restaurant staff singing "Happy Birthday"
to a guest while presenting a candle-lighted cake, they would present
a Sunflower Cake and sing "Ahi Viene El Sol", a ceremony meant
to uplift the spirits of the honored guest. :roll

Note: "Here Comes the Sun" is the true title, but "Ahi Viene ..."
seems to elevate the song to a higher level. ;)
