 Hmmm ... (today's musing)

From whence our authority to continually profit from the text of our fifth epochal revelation,
a revelation given freely to the world and intended to be shared with the world ... freely? :!:

After 60 years of such profit, we should have - by now - created other funding to allow
this epochal revelation to flow to all parts of the world ... freely. ;)

 Hmmm ... (today's musing, continued)

For perspective on any costs associated with UB dissemination ...

 Where is it written that Jesus, Urantia's fourth epochal revelation*,
charged admission to hear his sermons, discourses, and other teachings?
Did the apostolic team have no costs of doing business :?:

 Also, the Urantia Book has no precedence - how the Bible is promoted
is not necessarily the best guidance for our planet's new revelation.
Methinks that "freely" was redefined after the 1955 exposure. ;)

:o Here's the subtlety of UB dissemination ...

Are we disseminating a "New York Times Best Seller", a commercial offering,
or rare & unique planetary revelation, a enlightening gift from above? :roll

Dear Rod,

Judas was their treasurer, so they did raise money. They also had wealthy benefactors, those who bankrolled them, (John Zebedee being one) and finally in those days everyone was extremely hospitable. You can be sure that after the Master gave a lecture or so, people would be falling over themselves to host him or his disciples, and to feed them too. So the costs of doing business were pretty low, just needed food and shelter. For travel they used Shanks Pony.

Geoff,

I had never heard the term, Shank's Pony, and thought that you meant Shank's donkey (re: Bethpage, 172:3.6). But I checked and found that neither the donkey's name nor owner's name was listed. :? I then found the term on the internet. :roll

Regarding the apostles' funds, I was noting that people were not charged admission to hear Jesus' sermons, discourses, and teachings ... but realized that the apostles did have sources of funds (as you mentioned).

Incidentally, I rode Shank's Pony a mile to pick up my car at the auto repair shop last summer.

On another blog, someone questioned the Thought Adjuster's role in inditing Urantia Papers; this was my response:

I understand the "inditing" to mean that the contact's Adjuster was the source of that material "indited". Incidentally, I've also read (elsewhere) that a secondary midwayer was the medium (necessary technical intermediary) for the Adjuster to communicate material via the contact to the Contact Commission. Otherwise, the Adjuster is a soul (primarily) and mind (sometimes) personal divinity contact/presence (IMO).

Because of the "divinity" nature of Adjusters (and because they are primarily mortal companions),
the celestials comprising the revelatory team were lower-order beings:

These Acknowledgments better explain the relationships:

:sunflower: Today's reflection on planetary unity ...

Widespread unity - if/when it occurs - will first occur outside of one's affiliation with religious, political, and socio-economic institutions
where "Brotherhood of Man and Fatherhood of God" is popular mantra. Then, institutions will slowly reflect this foundational unity. :finger:

New perspective on Joshua ben Joseph.
Here's a good explanation why we now read "Jesus" - not "Joshua":

:flower: Enjoy the unique meditation experience of focusing on the Scalenity Octavo geometry* in a darkened room while listening to Sinatra's "I did it my way"*, and reflecting on your own "My Way" experiences ... knowing that the four dark blue circles in the center have special symbolism:

"The Urantia Pearl geometric symbol consists of four nested circles having incremental diameters in 1,2,3,4 relationship. For example, increments of 100, 200, 300, and 400 units reflect the diameters of one set of Urantia Pearl circles. These incremental diameters are symbolic of the purposeful and guided steps whereby mortals ascend to the many advancement plateaus in the local universe before they continue with the Paradise ascent." 8)

While viewing the geometry, imagine that the four-circles set represents a Mansonia moon, visible from earth and our next universe adventure. :roll
Let "I did it my way" be reflection on one's short earthly path before the advancing Mansonia departure.

We are being trained to become agents of God's purpose, especially in eternity
but even now with training wheels, such as guidance by epochal revelation.

 Epochal revelation is like designer clothes for all occupations ...

What matters not is how well the designs are received by the choirs of formal UB organizations, but how well-noticed and appreciated they are outside in the real world of individual spiritual progression on the Paradise journey. Yes, formal organization is important but in no way obstructive to those truly Paradise-bound.

For such is the mandate of the universe ... despite human organizations sometimes gone awry.

 A discussion on another blog about Jesus' use of the sheep metaphor and this UB quote inspired consideration of other leadership:

"Leadership is vital to progress. Wisdom, insight, and foresight are indispensable to the endurance of nations. Civilization is never really jeopardized until able leadership begins to vanish. And the quantity of such wise leadership has never exceeded one per cent of the population." (81:6.42)

 I realized that any mother who's in charge of a family of active children is (or becomes) a true leader with wise leadership. Contemplating where this thought came from, I recalled the following UB quotes which reminded me that what/how Jesus taught was often relative to his generation (as a human); that generation would not have promoted the concept of "mothers are leaders" (this cautions us to extract Jesus' recipes for life on 606 with a bit of modern era leavening):

"Jesus was a truth giver; he was the truth for that generation on Urantia." (130:1.1)

"In your consideration of the life and experience of the Son of Man, it should be ever borne in mind that the Son of God was incarnate in the mind of a first-century human being, not in the mind of a twentieth-century or other-century mortal ..." (136:8.7)

:bounce: The Great Salt Shake

How much salt you add to soup today is hardly an event to remember on the mansion worlds.

But when the decision becomes more complex, the probability of this being a Mansonia memory increases. For example, if the soup were being made to help a friend recover from a high blood pressure event, the quantity of salt does make a difference! Now consider the greater complexity when the patient demanded that lotsa salt be added to the soup ... and their doctor insisted that no salt be added. You, who habitually avoids such confrontation with friends and relatives, soon become desirous of knowing God's take on the shake before the quake.

Considering that we recently left the starting gate of our mortal birth and just began our purposeful journey to Paradise, how and what decision is made (re: "intercommunication") is not as important as the maintenance of frequent, quality dialogue with our indwelling Adjuster, our mission-focused, Personal Perfect Pilot ... all the way to Paradise ... starting at 606*.

And considering the sublime expertise of these divine indwellers, our question/request has effectively been "voiced" before we're conscious of such inquiry. Perhaps, we need only assume that the response has long been waiting for our retrieval from some transcendental texting tablet ... and not be concerned about this reliable intercommunication facility ... whatever it is. :?

* If you were born on the moon (a near-future possibility), you could not claim (on Mansonia) that you were a mortal from Urantia ... or could you? But you would argue that your mother was from Urantia. Makes sense! Now consider that you were conceived by "artificial insemination" in a space laboratory managed by robots ... and that both sperm and egg were derived from genetic engineering. Hmmm ... what's God's take on this shake? Not to worry! A grain of salt contrasted with a lifetime of Adjuster-influenced decision-making before our arrival on Mansonia. 8)

Re: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/standingon ... hurch.html

"The divide runs between cardinals. It runs between bishops and archbishops. It runs between theologians. It runs between parish priests. It runs between liturgists and catechists, church workers, musicians, teachers, journalists and writers. It is not really a divide between conservative and liberal, between traditionalist and progressive. It is the divide between those who believe that Jesus Christ is the Virgin born Son of God ..."

:!: Typical human analytics, especially in the media and from government pulpits, about many of the world's problems (that there are only two sides to a schism). "Fracture" with its many tree-root mini-schisms is often the more accurate description of how we mortals perceive complex problems. Of course, the list of options from which to choose is often reduced to a simple schism for easiest political consumption. The U.S. "red states vs. blue states" comes to mind.

:sunny: Going forward, especially because Fr. Dwight Longenecker's "the church was established by God’s Son Jesus Christ our Lord for the defeat of Satan, the salvation of souls and the redemption of the world ..." is not in alignment with the UB's presentation, we need be cautious about believing/assuming that a simple schism exists when there's opposition to the Revelation - there are usually many more options for resolving or minimizing these human conflicts ... and this should be clear in UB dissemination efforts.

 "The Fallacy of Simple Schism" might make a great dissertation (and/or book) for a social scholar. ;)

:study: Re: "'The Fallacy of Simple Schism' might make a great dissertation (and/or book) for a social scholar."

After further contemplation of this writing opportunity, I believe that this effort should be a compilation of contributions from various authors/researchers since this book has great potential for guiding social progress into this new millennium. :finger:

There's an abundance of examples in the real world of how modern society reduces complex problems into "either/or but not both" options. While such reduction is practical (eventually), premature reduction can marginalize more progressive/creative options. In contrast, modern society loves to promote George Santayana's “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it”, hinting that premature reduction is an ongoing problem for both sexes of the world.

:sunflower: Reference to "Council of Twelve" in recent commentary about the Trilogy of Trapezoids design
("Paradise Trinty Day" topic in the Current Events forum) might hint that a new planetary government
for the current era on Urantia is now unfolding. 8)

"The Planetary Princes organize their specialized groups of assistants from among their corps of planetary aids.
They usually surround themselves with a supreme council of twelve ..." (50:2.3)

:stars: From whence "Council of Twelve"? (long story short):

The Trilogy design suggested "angels", then "archangels' circuit" came to mind,
then a quick review of Section 6. The Master Seraphim of Planetary Supervision
(re: http://www.theub.org/part-iii.html#P114_6 ) segued to "council of twelve".

:study: Re: http://www.dennismammana.com/skyinfo/as ... h_name.htm

"Strictly speaking, Uranus was the only Greek name among the Roman planetary names. But since Uranus was the god of the heavens, it seemed appropriate for the first planet found in modern times. Later, when large bodies were discovered in 1846 and 1930, scientists named them after the Roman gods Neptune and Pluto."

 Perhaps, this makes the case for UB-enlightened perspective: "Urantia, goddess of the heavens."

Closely related to this symbolism of "mother earth": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_hypothesis

"The Gaia hypothesis posits that the Earth is a self-regulating complex system involving the biosphere, the atmosphere, the hydrospheres and the pedosphere, tightly coupled as an evolving system. The hypothesis contends that this system as a whole, called Gaia, seeks a physical and chemical environment optimal for contemporary life."

Thanks Rod, I needed that laugh!

Wow, I had forgotten how complex our education will be as we arrive on the Mansion worlds and beyond. But isn't it nice to know that we won't ever have a chance to be bored as we progress and learn ever more complex skills and knowledge? It is also a comfort to be reminded that all that is "us" is well cared for while we make the transition from mortal to Morontia form. The universe always has "our backs" I suspect. :)

 Halbert's (UBtheNEWS) recent email to subscribers about the Milky Way galaxy (central identity of Orvonton, the superuniverse) inspired a quick review of the related UB paragraphs. With the Milky Way as familiar reference, a certain galactic concentricity was easy to imagine:

"The vast Milky Way starry system represents the central nucleus of Orvonton, being largely beyond the borders of your local universe." (15:3.1)

"From the outermost system of inhabited worlds to the center of the superuniverse is a trifle less than two hundred and fifty thousand light-years." (32:2.11)

So, the superuniverse of Orvonton would be about 500,000 light years in diameter with the Milky Way as its dense center (and a diameter of about 100,000 light years: https://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/features/ ... _info.html )

Suddenly, Paradise seems much closer! 8)
