"By the break of day the pangs of childbirth were well in evidence, and at noon, August 21, 7 B.C.,
with the help and kind ministrations of women fellow travelers, Mary was delivered of a male child.
Jesus of Nazareth" (122:8.1)

Jesus' Sermons, Discourses, Parables, and Miracles
in Papers 121-196 (Part IV of the Urantia Book).

"Let us make ready to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom." (137:8)

Thank you, Rod! That is an amazing reference and very helpful. :sunflower:

 That "Jesus" can be so controversial keeps hinting that "The Life and Teachings of Joshua ben Joseph"
would be a promising retelling of the same story. And this was his name during that life and teachings! ;)

"It is most unfortunate that those who have come to venerate the divine and risen Christ
should have overlooked the man — the valiant and courageous hero — Joshua ben Joseph." (92:7.12)

 Evidence that "Joshua ben Joseph" could be used to tell the story of the human Jesus
(with "Jesus" referring to the Joshua who became the Christ after his resurrection). 8)

:study: Re: https://www.proz.com/kudoz/english/othe ... esous.html

"The English name 'Jesus' comes from the French 'Jesus' which comes from the Latin 'Iesus' which comes from the Greek 'Iesous' which comes from the Aramaic 'Yeshua' (in classical Hebrew: Yehoshua) which means 'God saves.' If we were to go directly from the ancient Hebrew into modern English we would have the name Joshua. The historical Jesus would have been called 'Joshua' by his friends if they spoke English (a language which didn't evolve into its basic modern form until a thousand years later)."

Undoubtedly, the UB presents "Jesus" because of modern familiarity to Christian teaching.

Sandy,

Interesting symbolism, this napkin that was tied about Jesus' face, but later found folded.
To find paragraph in Part IV, type '188:1.4' in browser's Find search box.
Part IV - https://www.theub.org/part-iv.html#WDJT

"Joseph and Nicodemus had brought with them large quantities of myrrh and aloes, and they now wrapped the body with bandages saturated with these solutions. When the embalming was completed, they tied a napkin about the face, wrapped the body in a linen sheet, and reverently placed it on a shelf in the tomb." (188:1.4)

"In the recess of stone where they had laid Jesus, Mary saw only the folded napkin where his head had rested and the bandages wherewith he had been wrapped lying intact and as they had rested on the stone before the celestial hosts removed the body. The covering sheet lay at the foot of the burial niche." (189:4.6)

Re: https://www.citizen-times.com/story/lif ... 100612470/

"For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, 'I’m finished.' But if the master got up from the table, folded his napkin and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because the folded napkin meant, 'I'm coming back!' "

 A Secondary Midwayer probably removed and folded this napkin
at Jesus' request as a morontia being. 8)

 That the UB refers to "linen sheet" - not "shroud" - suggests
the UB prefers distance from the Shroud of Turin controversy.
Also, the UB hints that there were at least two linen sheets:
one to carry Jesus to the tomb and a clean sheet for burial.
