This is awesome! — from Welles

Post by Welles »

The moon, seen from the Arctic Circle, between Russia and Canada. It only lasts a few seconds, but it's worth seeing. It's a spectacular sight. Imagine that you are in a location between Canada and Russia and suddenly and for just 30 seconds, the moon appears in all its splendor and disappears before your eyes. It looks like the moon is going to collide with the earth. Even more impressive AND for just 5 seconds, a total eclipse of the sun takes place. It's unprecedented and spectacular!

The video was shot in REAL-TIME. The phenomenon happens at the “perigee”: the closest point of a heavenly body’s orbit around the Earth, where the proximity of the moon is so evident that, suddenly, we realize the great speed at which the Earth is moving. This effect is only visible once a year and lasts for just 30 seconds… Astronomers figured out those exact 30 seconds and had the cameras rolling. Fortunately they had a clear sky. Amazing! Watch this happen on the video. Total sun eclipse is ONLY 5 seconds…

Within seconds the sun is back. The moon re-appears and moves away in that 5 second interval

Welles.
As amazing as it is, we've been hoodwinked by really good CGI. It's apparently fake.

And the age of deep fakes is only just beginning!

Wow. It was still exciting to watch.

Normally I dislike google and fact checkers for their bias and greed- serving as gatekeepers of information during trying times for humanity...Suppressing even scientist, doctors and lawyers who just want to provide life saving information.

But in this case, it seems okay.

I have to say that I don't use Google for anything and am even leery about DuckDuckGo that I used for years. I've settled on the Brave search engine. That being said your references are good ones. Thanks for that. I'm still miffed.

 :sorry: :grrr

Yup... DuckDuckGo is just as bad.

And no problem! I still think it's really cool, it was nice to be filled with such childlike wonder. It made me think, after it's all said and done, this must be how a child feels with regards to santa.

Even after the editing, it's still a magical sight. And Life is Magical. = ) Kudos to the creator who would inspire such a feeling.

Yep, even if it was a fake it was lovely watching it repeatedly. So I thank you Welles...It was like watching something from an enchanting Sci-fi movie. It's silly...the universe is so amazing on its own with out altering the facts...
But facts are facts. I hope that somewhere out there there are honest people who believe truth is more important then greed and bottom lines. (Yep, I am a dreamer...lol   )
