This is an exquisite essay. I can't really provide an excerpt. It is about memories, smells from childhood, growing up and reflecting on life. I received a gift of a lightened heart from reading it.

Thank you Welles,
This one brought back my own memories of life as a rambunctious, curious little girl, running wild and free on my Grandfather's farm. While he wasn't a doctor, he had a similar earthy community with nature that still is as strong in memory as the times I walked with him through the fields and by the creek. We didn't drink the water, though. Cows tasted it first.
