Harvest Time — from Steve McCurry's Blog

Post by Welles » Wed Nov 22, 2017 6:49 pm

Steve McCurry is a wonderful photographer who puts together themed collections on his photo blog. He intersperses the images with wonderful quotes. This post is all about harvest time and included two quotes that are worth separate consideration.

The law of harvest is to reap more than you sow.

Sow an act, and you reap a habit.

Sow a habit and you reap a character.

Sow a character and you reap a destiny.
— by James Allen

Wake up now, look alive,

for here is a day off work just to praise Creation:

the turkey, the squash, and the corn,

these things that ate and drank sunshine, grass, mud, and rain,

and then in the shortening days laid down their

lives for our welfare and onward resolve. . .

Thanksgiving is Creation’s birthday party.

Praise harvest, a pause and sign on the breath of immortality.

Wow! What a gifted photographer. I was struck by the thought while viewing the various photos taken from all over the globe, that in the simple act of harvesting, we, the children of the world, find common ground.

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.
