Picture of the Day: Rice Terraces from Above

We see thousands of images on the internet every week. Often they are wonderful and astounding. Every now and then one really seems to be exceptional even by those standards. This photo struck me like that. It is a photo of the amazing terraced rice terraces of Yunnan, China. Yunnan’s Yuanyang County is a popular destination with photographers due to the vast areas of nearby mountains which have been cultivated into terraced rice paddies for at least the past 1300 years by the Hani people. 

If I had painted this I would have been in heaven for a month. To think that this is real...
