On the eve of U.S. election day

As the polls are closing, votes being tallied, I would like to say how proud I am of the number of young adults I know who are standing up and being counted. If the political... snarl.. in our country has done anything positive, it has made people aware that if they want a voice they need to check the facts, and take action where it counts. Many newly registered young voters are paying close attention to political views, world problems, and are interested in gaining an informed opinion.

I am NOT a politically motivated person. I can't help but hope and believe this is helping steer us toward further enlightenment.

The election process is all an illusion of our false democracy. Our votes don't get tallied, you think the criminal TPTB are going to let this happen.

They are selected in, not elected.

Lefty,
That may be true. There are so many people who have no idea their actions have consequences, but there are many of us who believe eventually good intentions will win out. Those who use our world, its resources, and occupants as their platform for personal gain will always have to answer for their actions. Looking around there seems to be much more negative in the world than good, maybe that is only an illusion of the proverbial 'squeaky wheel'. Maybe peace, love, helping hands, are quiet, slower to be recognized, not needing to be recognized, for all they have accomplished? This one is for Sandy as another song invades my consciousness, "It takes time to move a mountain."

With all the negative going on in the world, I feel my recourse is to be responsible for my own actions, words, and thoughts.

:D Thanks Kim...actually that song has meaning in my life at this moment...

"It Takes Time"

It takes time to move a mountain, it takes time for love to be
You're never really caged in, but you're never really free
It takes time for all the answers to be dealt with properly
And everybody knows that it takes time

Now something like the seasons, people sometimes change
Their actions and their reasons, though the feelings stay the same
Working out their troubles, now, looking for peace of mind
And everybody knows that it takes time

It takes time to move a mountain, it takes time for love to be
You're never really caged in, but you're never really free
It takes time for all the answers to be dealt with properly
And everybody knows that it takes time

Well, I believe in freedom and I believe in change
'Cause if we move too fast, you know, confusion will remain
It don't seem long for happiness to give you peace of mind
And everybody knows that it takes time

It takes time to move a mountain, it takes time for love to be
You're never really caged in, but you're never really free
It takes time for all the answers to be dealt with properly
And everybody knows that it takes time

Time to move a mountain, it takes time for love to be
You're never really caged in, but you're never really free
It takes time for all the answers to be dealt with properly
And everybody knows that it takes time

and what you say here...
With all the negative going on in the world, I feel my recourse is to be responsible for my own actions, words, and thoughts.
sort of echos a wonderful essay that Welles posted on the board recently.

Sandy,
Wondered why I thought of Anne Murry the other day!

Really liked Welles' post too... Love has a common theme.
