"Eskimo is commonly used in Alaska to refer to all Inuit and Yupik people,
but many associate it with racist colonizers who settled in the Arctic and used the term."

 All racist colonizers throughout history may be fair game
for this momentous disassociation of commercial products! :o

A certain chicken now comes to mind (right, pilgrim?)*
(maybe Popeye's has a different source) :finger:

* "A pilgrim is a traveler who is on a journey to a holy place." - Wikipedia

"Boris Johnson to announce 'one metre plus' rule on Tuesday in boost for pubs"

 The "plus" may be more distance to prevent jostling of packages
when men refresh at the pubs while their mates continue shopping.
Or "plus" is because people would expect a precise metre. ;)

However, with the virus easily transmitting several metres,
one metre is just to prove that social distancing is in effect
... in which case "baker's metre" may be the next term
(similar to "baker's dozen").

 "How long is a baker's metre?" Next question :!:

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... shoes.html

"Chick-fil-A CEO makes bizarre plea for white people to repent for racism ..."
"Urged them to find a black person and 'go right on over and shine their shoes' "

 Probably more symbolism intended than action, since ...

- not all black people are easily identified by skin color.
- not all black people are wearing shoes that can be shined.
- not all black people (or any person) would be comfortable
if a stranger approached and reached for their shoes.
- "social distancing" does not permit such approach. ;)

"The city of Columbus, Ohio, has already vowed to bring down its statue of Christopher Columbus. But thousands are hoping
to erase the city's connection to Columbus' legacy even further by renaming it Flavortown in honor of Columbus native Guy Fieri." :o

 If you're tryin' to erase historical legacy, a city known for its association
with "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" would indeed be "memorable"!

Even "Columbus ate here!" might be promoted by some D, D, or D.
Tats and earrings for both boys & girls (with a stick-on stache)

"All of this canceling of iconic marketing symbols is to ease liberal white guilt, as Mr. Evans points out."

"The women who portrayed Aunt Jemima, either as the original one or an ambassador traveling across the country to sell Quaker Oats products,
were groundbreaking African-American women who deserve the dignity and respect of not being erased from history today."

 However, there had been negligible "liberal white guilt" (Aunt Jemima was not seriously threatened
by removal from marketing) until very recently! ;)

Best guess #1: Something external to AJ's shopping fans persuaded them to acquire guilt ...
then yield to the increasing removal popularity (probably media-fused, -ignited, and -flamed). :o

Best guess #2: Aunt Jemima is but one of many marketing symbols selected
to provide "evidence" of the guilt that should be acquired.

Best guess #3: Aunt Jemima (and related products, places, etc.) had long lost association
with any racial injustice, becoming popular consumer brands ... for many decades :!:

"Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free."

 "Nationally celebrated" but not a "National Holiday" ... yet.

know so much about the virus that any mischief in a vaccine may be discovered quickly. :finger:

 A simple example of how myopic this renaming can get ...

"The South" is also suggestive of slavery - is it time to rewrite
history to replace "The South" in names, places, movies,
books, and documents of/about that historical past :?:

If so, "The Not North" makes a complementary substitute,
complementary to some justifications for renaming.

'Privilege is having as many children as you want, regardless of your employment status,

 The problem with this "rant", although correct for some individuals,
insinuates that a large community of people have similar privilege ...
