"Backseats of Uber and Lyft cars 'have 35,000 times more germs than the average TOILET SEAT
and 219 times as many as the average taxi"

 Who knew?! that public transportation needed frequent cleaning ...
with Uber and Lyft rideshares permitting more "activity" ... apparently.
And this article is not such a positive comment about taxis :!:

 However, comments from local friends who use a Uber rideshare occasionally
(someone they know well) suggest that there are clean rideshares out there. ;)

Re: https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/03/business ... index.html

A subtlety about these faux burgers ...
They are available as pre-made patties - not ingredients to be mixed at home*.
Meat lovers who typically buy pre-made (and like these burgers as well as price)
will probably transition easily to these no-meat burgers. 8)

* those ingredients might not be so appealing as "ingredients". :o

 Bottom line: Faux burgers will likely be popular as fast food,
especially since nutrition labels are not served with fast food. ;)

gosh rod, these smart cities and surveillance operatives are a bit frightening. i feel like becoming less connected because of it but also understand that integration with technology is already happening. while china's credit score system is not what the average person wants, the security potentials of a smart city are what i would think government officials are considering. somewhere in this mess of worry and upset needs to be a hope that man is looking out for the interest of another, where freedoms still exist, unfortunately the credit score system is china makes for a dismal view. the birth of the internet has also raised awareness to the plight of the world, where greed and the desire for control become more apparent. now we're witnessing those with the power trying to control the content on the internet and limit this vision. what can we do... ???

"Chickpeas (garbanzo beans) are particularly beneficial at reducing blood sugar
and increasing insulin sensitivity when compared with other high-carb foods." 8)

 With such nutrition, why choose the "lowest common denominator" (faux meat),
engineered to appeal like meat? Also, veggie patties were the original meat substitute
and can be made at home with less lab-influenced ingredients. ;)

:roll The "20-Minute Black Bean Burgers" recipe seems to be a great starting point
for home chef creativity with substitution for bread and walnuts possible. ;)
Also, black bean flakes are sold by larger health food stores and help control
the amount of moisture in the assembled ingredients.

About faux meat ...

 Today's choice for re-spelling of the meat-based "burger"

Happyrain,

About cities and surveillance ...

 Information collected is potentially harmful (especially to the innocent)
only when used; that's a good focus for this increasing attack on privacy (worldwide).

Unfortunately, we of the modern era are becoming complacent about surveillance
... and will soon be rewarded with complementing lessons (IMO). ;)

:roll Best guess: We who are concerned should seek public/social leadership positions
where related wisdom prevails ... or can be influenced to prevail. :finger:

About faux meat and lentils ...

 There are many good lentil loaf recipes, but most seem to be attempt
to appeal as faux meat ... despite their many veggies. From the perspecive of
sprouted lentils, whose flavor should not be eclipsed by faux meat flavoring,
a new recipe is being envisioned en mi cocina (lentils have sprouted!).

:duh What would be a good recipe name :?:
Sprouted Lentil Loaf comes to mind! ;)

 A successful recipe (at, least acceptable)
will be a loaf that can be sliced after refrigeration
and pan fried as a Lentil Burhgur. ;)

where many more vigilantes might be inspired to confront the problem.

All you have to do is press the gel slightly against the top of a keyboard and pull it up... slowly."

"this gel won’t disinfect your bacteria-ridden surfaces,
so you may want to run some disinfectant wipes over them after you’re done"

 Entertaining story about ColorCoral, but the "disinfectant wipes" may be the better solution :finger:
(turn off computer before wiping so that you can press on the keys).

While serious hand washing seems to be the now-favored solution for dirty hands,
these wipes might be good for many surfaces where germs accumulate. ;)

Corny Quinoa (too simple to be a "recipe")

A tasty combo of quinoa and corn grits
with blended flavor and good fiber. :roll

Rinse 1/2 cup of white quinoa then simmer 10 min. in 2 cups water.

Stir in 1/3 cup corn grits (try polenta) and simmer about 10 min.,
stirring frequently (add more water if necessary).

If desired, stir in spices, herbs, and olive oil to complete.

:sunflower: From today's email ...

Dr. Gary Small, M.D., writes (at Newsmax.com):

"Many studies have demonstrated an association between mental stimulation from games, puzzles, and challenging tasks, and a lower risk for developing dementia. A study published in the International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry suggests that doing daily crossword puzzles will improve cognitive performance:

Researchers randomly divided 37 middle-age and older adults into a crossword-puzzle group and a control group that wrote a daily entry in a diary rather than completing daily puzzles. Before and after the four-week experiment, research volunteers were given assessments of different language skills, such as how quickly they could think of certain words. Study volunteers in the crossword-puzzle group demonstrated significant improvements in their verbal cognitive skills, while the control volunteers did not."

 Apparently, a variety of mental stimulation is important to lower risk of dementia
(along with a nutritious balanced diet, frequent exercise, and sufficient rest).
