"40 Things Baby Boomers Still Think Are Cool" 8)

:duh First thought when reading this headline:
Stop being so concerned about what others think is "cool"!
That rat race ended with the new millennium :!: (even if born in 1964)

 Aging boomers have earned their preferred level of independence
and will find plenty of support outside of Cool Lemminghood. :finger:

See also: http://www.iror.org/lemmings.asp

"Lemminghood is an innate psychological phenomenon, present in most mammals and observable in common people
as well the most sophisticated and educated elites. Lemminghood is not an intellectual phenomenon - it is psychological.
As such, no socio-economic class is immune to its strangulating effect." ;)

:bana: It's cool to be uncool! (depending on your tolerance to social pressure)

"Multivitamins: 5 Studies That Suggest They’re Not Improving Your Health" :o

 Ongoing controversy but cost/benefit seems true (high cost/low benefit).
Besides, decades of studies have stayed focused on benefit for people who are deficient
in certain vitamins and minerals - not those who consume a reasonably balanced diet.

Interestingly, conspiracy theory would suggest the body tolerates MANY pharmaceuticals
because of low dosage components, thus providing good Return On Investment (ROI) ...
for the manufacturers and distributors. ;)

Tip: Anecdotes - not medical evaluations - usually promote these products :!:

since that TP takes the underground log ride to the sewage processing center.

Butt for many readers, "Who gives a parc?" is good title for a TP review.

 Who knew :?: :!:

 Adam and Eve were the original racists (the Human Race),
and, during the MANY begats that followed, differention
of offspring created sub-groups, also called "races".

Now, those who begat are inherently racists!
... since they often perpetuate their sub-group.
So, non-racists are those who do not begat? :?

"99% plus of the population do not have the physical traits that cause someone to become transgender.
People with gender dysphoria, a condition that causes extreme distress, deserve empathy and respect.
But only 0.6% of adult population have it, according to UCLA's Williams Institute, LGBTQ advocacy group." :o

"But there's no reason to incorporate it into the curriculum, inviting children to choose their pronouns
and confusing the 99% who don't have the condition." ;)

 So, this permits the bisexuals to maintain their anatomical gender?

"Biological Sex Isn't Up For Debate"

"If I were to die today and someone dug up my bones hundreds of years from now, they would know
through well-defined science that my remains are those of a male. The same applies for women" :o

 Best guess: If you want later generations to know your preferred gender,
you'll need to bury complementary artifacts, like clothing or whatever. 8)

Cremation might seem a way to avoid disclosure, but it's not:

Of course, in this modern era where "transgender" was invented,
internet information remains in a database somewhere. ;)

:study: Re: https://www.who.int/health-topics/gender

"Gender refers to the characteristics of women, men, girls and boys that are socially constructed.
This includes norms, behaviours and roles associated with being a woman, man, girl or boy,
as well as relationships with each other. As a social construct, gender varies
from society to society and can change over time." :o

 Proof enough that "gender" and "biological sex" are two different things,
with "gender" deriving from "biological" - not vice versa :!:

In other words, "gender" does not necessarily indicate anatomical reality
(and does not need to in today's society, apparently).

:study: Re: https://www.fltimes.com/news/nation/wom ... g-surgery/ (not a link)

 Since chromosomes (DNA, re: XX,XY) don't change, "gender-supporting" surgery would be more accurate. ;)

"But Putin's poor posture and his apparently bloated face and neck sparked speculation about the Russian leader's health, which has reportedly been in decline since his invasion of Ukraine... showed Putin speaking to Shoigu whilst gripping the edge of the table with his right hand - so hard that it appears white - and tapping his foot consistently."

:? Intriguing media stretch (IMO) to reference Putin's white hand since his chair's left arm pad is also whitish (suggests camera lighting). And his words indicate a leader still in control of the nation with some sensitivity to fate of his troops. Probably a staged meeting meant to create a news video.

 Putin's orders to his defense minister hint that the invasion may be terminating ...
if both sides can agree on less than satisfying terms, apparently.

"Fighting poverty’s 'root causes' has led to an obsession on the 'housing first' approach to homelessness.
Philanthropic groups like United Way reject mere 'bandaid' approaches to homelessness. Temporary shelters,
bridge housing, safe overnight parking sites, etc. are not ideologically acceptable.

'Housing first' has been an dismal failure if you go by the tens-of-thousands of more homeless people sleeping on the streets
since its adoption. But if you go by the boon of money unlocked for the homeless industrial complex it is a smashing success."

 Obviously, current solutions to homelessness are not the cause of increasing homelessness, but does suggest
misdirection of funding (albeit, profitable businesses pay taxes, provide employment, and enrich investors). ;)

high protein insects discovered include black soldier fly larvae, mealworms, crickets and locusts."

and humans to eat creatures ... and this provided earth-friendly transformation of energy for many millennia :!:
Suggesting now that humans eat bugs hints that one more step must occur to complete this modern transition:
Humans should eat real plants - not lab-meat, etc. created from highly processed bugs and plants. ;)

and anybody else grappling with the written word and deadlines. Coffee and tea are unlimited and self-serve,
and high-speed Wi-Fi and docking ports are installed at every seat. Customers enter, write down their names,

 Intriguing concept, this forced writing environment! Not every writer's cup of tea

suggesting comparison to similar monitoring at a poop stall. Does it get the job done,

Re: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/04/26/fort-wo ... tcoin.html

"Fort Worth, Texas, is now the first city government in the United States to mine bitcoin — and in an almost poetic devotion to the initiative, Mayor Mattie Parker oversaw the construction of a small mining farm in City Hall. :o

Three Bitmain Antminer S9 mining rigs will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in the climate-controlled information technology wing of Fort Worth City Hall. The city says the miners will be hosted on a private network to minimize the security risk. Bitcoin operates on a proof-of-work mining model, meaning that miners around the world run high-powered computers to simultaneously create new bitcoin and to validate transactions."

 Fascinating! - even mesmerizing - this asset that exists only as a unique electronic number; a number that must be created with lotsa electricity, lotsa electronic machines, and lotsa networks ... and effectively ceases to exist without electricity! Somehow, "de-mining" comes to mind (using up the world's real resources to create that which does not exist as a real thing).

 With real currency slowly being eliminated (a real thing that does not have to be validated* by a bitcoin network for every transaction with every transaction becoming a permanent electronic record in a HUGE database), the world's "almost poetic devotion to the initiative" is itself poetic understatement :!:

* other than a cashier visually examining a large bill ;)

"DJI, the largest manufacturers of consumer drone in the world with a market share of around 70% and based in Shenzhen, China, announced that they were suspending business in both Russia and Ukraine. No drones will be sold in either country while the company goes through a process of 'reassessing compliance requirements in various jurisdictions.' This follows a press release least week in which the company stated that their products are not for military use"

 That a consumer product (drone, a toy) should have military use is not surprising, but this same toy can be used for non-military mischief (especially, invasion of privacy).
