"The findings showed that peanut allergies have tripled, affecting 1 in 250 children in 1997 to 1 in 70 children in 2008."

 Or maybe peanuts are exposed to more/different herbicides and pesticides that affect the human immune system
(being consumed by mothers who give birth to children with these allergies?):

"Digital reconstruction of a Neanderthal's rib cage has revealed that the primitive hominid
had a better posture than modern humans - as well as stronger lungs.

"Far from the knuckle-dragging beasts we thought them to be, the upright walking style of Neanderthals
allowed them to walk far farther than Homo sapiens."

 Naturally ... modern man is always humped over electronic devices and rides more than walks.

:!: Not political perspective but the "fine print" in a nation-founding document,
highlighting Trump's promise of an Executive Order to correct the problem:

Re: https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/30/opinions ... index.html

"in 1898 in US v. Wong Kim Ark, the Supreme Court held: 'The (14th) amendment, in clear words and in manifest intent, includes the children born, within the territory of the United States, of all other persons, of whatever race or color, domiciled within the United States."

Re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domicile_(law)

"In law, domicile is the status or attribution of being a lawful permanent resident in a particular jurisdiction." ;)

 So ... perhaps, the definition of "domiciled" has changed over the decades ...
or has been interpreted to include unlawful residents, temporarily residing in the U.S.
Apparently, the U.S. Supreme Court will be called upon to further define "domicile". :finger:

"Pick up poo or we take the dog" :(

"The programme is being rolled out in phases, and is slated to be fully operational by 2020, though the government has provided scarce details about who is in charge of the system, how it works, and whether anyone can dispute the scores.

"By rating citizens on a range of behaviours from shopping habits to online speech, the government intends to manufacture a problem-free society" :finger:

Thanks to computers, the slightest behavioral infraction can now be numbered, promoting a new Chinese "No-Poo Fu" societal ambience.
Even "reading a certain book" might become a numbered behavior (positive or negative); the book's QR code could be scanned by a cell phone to determine its social credits. 8)

** Entrepreneur Alert: Cell phone apps will be required for all children to learn about the many government-approved behaviors.

 See also: https://www.qr-code-generator.com/
(generate your own QR code, then have it tattooed for a permanent ID that can be scanned by cell phones)

 Like number patterns :?: This menu appears to expand from the prices for 4,5,6,7 wings:
double pieces and price doubles, with rounding. A site comment that the price-per-wing is $1.13,
with rounding to the next 5 cents, seems to apply only to the 4,5,6,7 group. ;)

helps the body prepare for sleep. In other words, a quiet time with lower lighting
may induce better and faster sleep. :finger:

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech ... -GOLD.html

"A recent study warned that the huge farms of computers used to mine Bitcoin produce the same amount of carbon dioxide per year as every car in the UK combined."

"Mining Bitcoin requires more energy than searching for GOLD due to the huge amount of computing power needed to create the virtual currency"

 Obvious lesson: The cost of this mining (energy plus equipment, etc.) will not be absorbed by the "prospectors", but will be recovered in the pyramids of bitcoin "investing", where the petite top of the pyramid is always supported by the bulging bottom ... where one's appetite for risk usually determines the size of their bottom.

"Dead man shocks relatives by arriving home - two months after family held his funeral following DNA test on decomposed corpse 'confirmed' it was him (Aigali Supugaliev missing in Kazakhstan and a corpse with 99% of his DNA found)"

 So ... in a jury trial "beyond a shadow of a doubt"
would be akin to "more than 99% DNA proof".

... and 99% is not proof of fatherhood, apparently.

 Regardig DNA paternity tests ...

"paternity testing, like any other test, is close to 100% accurate but not completely 100%"

... and since 99% is very close to 100% (and sometimes used to declare paternity),
the unknown 1% comments that "judicial opnion" is not necessarily "scientific fact" :o

:roll More about DNA analysis ...

"longevity is influenced as much - if not more - by environmental factors, like your diet and whether or not you smoke,
as well as social factors such as wealth that are even harder to factor into the equation.

"while long lives do run in families, we can hardly count on our parents' longevity to predict our own."

At least, DNA long life predictions should be more reliable than bitcoin "investing" ...
and habitual jay-walking would be good predictor of shorter lives, as cell phone usage
MIGHT be a similar predictor, especially when jay-walking! ;)

"The radiation exposure was intermittent - 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off, for 9 hours a day.

"The researchers found that male rats developed tumours in the heart and brain. But bizarrely, these rats tended to live for longer than those who hadn’t been exposed to radiation. :?

“In our studies, rats and mice received radio frequency radiation across their whole bodies. By contrast, people are mostly exposed in specific local tissues close to where they hold the phone." (some local tissues are close to pockets) ;)

:idea: Analysis: Somewhat confusing study, but at least suggesting caution about frequent cell phone usage, especially by children;
study was on 2G/3G radiation whereas the new 5G cell phones (and many towers) are just around the corner (literally) :!:

This recipe is ideal for a bric pack of coarsely chopped cranberries:

I would be tempted to decrease sugar to 1/2 cup and substitute
1/2 cup of cornmeal for the flour. ;)

"unlike the US where the stock market is the ultimate barometer of the confidence boosting 'wealth effect', in China it has always been about housing as three quarters of Chinese household assets are parked in real estate, compared to only 28% in the US"

"China's president Xi famously said in October last year that 'houses are built to be inhabited, not for speculation', and yet a quarter of China's housing is just that: empty, and only serves to amplify speculation." ;)

 Interestingly, both stock markets and housing can give false indications of healthy economies.
