(U.S.) "Texas grid takes emergency actions to avoid blackouts amid heatwave"

"Lee Bratcher, president of Texas Blockchain Council, said all of the state's large-scale Bitcoin mining operations,
which consume about 1,000 megawatts, are currently offline because of ERCOT's call for conservation" :o

 Bitcoin's value becomes more obvious with this megawatts cost of production,
especially considering that unique digital numbers are the only product ...
not to mention the HUGE cost of equipment, etc., for this production ...
not to mention the product does not exist without the HUGE network
of linked computer systems to verify EVERY transaction!

 A planetary super conspiracy of anti-real-currency essence
with goal of monitoring ALL of the world's financial transactions
... in perpetuity :?: :!:

Methinks this bitcoin king has no clothes. ;)

Re: https://www.yahoo.com/news/california-w ... 43034.html
"California went big on rooftop solar. Now that's a problem for landfills"

"Beginning in 2006, the state, focused on how to incentivize people to take up solar power, showered subsidies on homeowners
who installed photovoltaic panels but had no comprehensive plan to dispose of them. Now, panels purchased under those programs
are nearing the end of their typical 25-to-30-year life cycle." [Also, photovoltaic panels are often discarded "before their time"
when roofs have to be reshingled.]

 Evidence that impatient solutions to "going green" can be accompanied by later problems.
Even wind generation is now giving similar evidence of age-related recycling problems. :(

"law enforcement in Norway are investigating a representative of the Women’s Declaration International (WDI) feminist organization over tweets in which she challenged a trans activist who claims that biological males can be lesbians." :o

:duh It's getting more difficult (akin to mental erectile dysfunction) to comprehend this new gender identity! Is not a biological male who identifies as lesbian still a man who prefers women biologically? Or is he (she?) a male who prefers another male who also identifies as female :?:

Methinks this new gender identity simply replaces foreplay with word play yet promotes comparable titillation.

"A transgender woman incarcerated at a women’s only prison in New Jersey has been moved
to another facility after impregnating two female inmates earlier this year"

 Apparently, "transgender" needs to be explicitly defined as "gender in transition"
until proven completed. For example, a male in transition to female is not "female"
until the transition is technically completed :!: ... since it's impossible for a female
to impregnate another female with the donor's existing anatomy. ;)

"Martin Has Responded To Claims That He Had A Sexual Relationship"

(a comment) ...

"My cousin's 22 year old son told her his uncle had 'messed' with him every Christmas and holiday that he'd ever spent
with their family from the age of 10-15 and gave specific dates/years. My cousin was mortified! Why?

1. She knew her brother had NEVER visited during any holiday covering that time period.
2. He'd never stayed overnight on the rare instances he did drop by with his own kids
and wife in tow when the entire family was present for dinner, etc.
3. He lived in an entirely different city.
4. She knew her son's father was both bipolar and schizophrenic.
Her son was diagnosed the following year"

 While "messing" does occur, claims are parroted in social media
and can quickly acquire believable but incorrect substantiation.

"Guilty until proven innocent!" comes to mind. ;)

Re: https://www.foxnews.com/us/gun-control- ... -samaritan
"Gun control advocates stunned (that) man who allegedly shot Indiana mall shooter labeled 'Good Samaritan' "

 Interesting controversy, especially since no guns were permitted in the mall.
Without response of 'Good Samaritan' many more people would have been killed
(and this would have helped promote the gun control message). ;)

Is the problem that the Samaritan interfered with an agenda?

Re: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nat ... 104876002/
"Has the failed Uvalde police response debunked the 'good guy with a gun' narrative?"

 Actually, the narrative was never that a 'good guy with gun' is the solution to mass shootings -
such guns are for personal protection :!: That they might help limit mass casualties is a bonus.

Of course, there's significant risk to the good guy if perceived as the original aggressor.
And what society would tolerate a good guy not taking action when given the opportunity?
(the Uvalde police now seem to have this "good guy" problem)

"LA County agency tells employees to use 'gender neutral' pronouns with customers ...
just because a person goes by a certain set of pronouns is not indicative of that person’s gender'." :?

 This county agency seems to be suggesting that pronouns should have no gender association.
So ... what's the purpose of the new gender neutral pronouns if they have no meaning :?: :!:

Mom to son: "Who is that at the front door?"
Son to mom: "They didn't say."
Mom to son: "A man or woman?"
Son to mom: "They didn't say."
Mom to son: "So, there's more than one?"
Son to mom: "Go ask them."
Mom to son: "Tell them we're not home."
Son to mom: "They didn't ask."

:bana: The rest of the story ...
(aliens were at the front door, father waited in the saucer)

Dad to mom: "Who was that at the front door?"
Mom to dad: "They didn't say."
Dad to mom: "A man or woman?"
Mom to dad: "They didn't say."
Dad to mom: "So, there was more than one?"
Mom to dad: "Go ask them."
Dad to mom: "Tell them we're going home."
Mom to dad: "They didn't ask, they don't know their sex,
they use obscure language to discuss it, and earth
is not a good environment to raise our children."

Son to dad: "I liked the one in a skirt."
Dad to son: "Brad Pitt ?!"

"Brad Pitt wears a skirt on the red carpet for 'Bullet Train' premiere"

 Historically, women (as then defined) wore skirts to showcase their legs,
for traditional fashion, or just for comfort. Now, men (however defined)
can wear skirts for the same reasons ... but "showcasing their legs"
seems to be new fashion, requiring complementary expertise
... not to mention cosmetics, grooming, whatever. :?

I recall that Joe Namath's 1973 pantyhose covered his legs,
but his legs were like that fashion era's objet d'art.

Re: https://halturnerradioshow.com/index.ph ... human-food

"UK Agency Re-working Law to ALLOW INSECTS as Human Food" :o

 Actually, laws already permit insects as food (as small percentage of processing). Interestingly, the world's acceptance of many different processed foods (aka "fast food, snacks, etc.") has already prepared us for the many insect offerings, now creepin' 'n crawlin' to our preferred markets. Fast food stores may be first! Cricket Crunch in a Blizzard comes to mind and wiggly worms in ramen!

Acceptance of new gender identities predicts that new terms for insects will be the magic marketing! ;)

toward the 'breakdown of the gender binary,' to experiment with gender pronouns such as 'they,' 'ze,' and 'tree,'

 "Queer all school year" seems a bit premature since "queer"
has long been a negative term with reference to gay people

Gender Confusion Theory comes to mind.

"John Cleese Blasts Wokeness As The 'Death Of Creativity' "

"wokeness allows the 'critical mind' to dominate the creative, with the two 'definitely in opposition to each other' ...
if you’re worried about offending people and constantly thinking of that, you are not going to be very creative."

"While admitting that wokeness makes creativity impossible for younger people, Cleese noted 'my audience is much older,
and they’re simply not interested in most of the woke attitudes'."

 Cleese's "much older audience" hints that new generations will prefer politically clean comedy,
with "very creative" comedy reserved for less public venues. After all, these audiences exist
because they enjoy this type of comedy (with some people even tolerating such offense). :o

 Best guess: A comedian needs to let the "creative mind" create the comedy material,
then edit it with the "critical mind" for the expected audience. Blinders on creative mind
may reduce necessary editing but may give lowest common denominator of material. :(

Today's email Spell Checker humor (or not): "Replace 'wokeness' with 'woodenness'."

"Video that father suing Sesame Street theme park for $25 million
claims shows 'racist' Telly Monster and Ernie ignoring his daughter"

:hithere This video shows that daughter is not seated in the front row where the Sesame Street characters
could more easily view children through their heavy masks ... not to mention that daughter reached out
when her hand would not be visible to the characters ... rushing along in the procession!

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... acist.html

:hithere Another Sesame Street costume failure (mask prevents good view of spectators)?

"the actor portraying Rosita - who was not named - 'did not intentionally ignore the girls
and is devastated about the misunderstanding' ... Rosita was gesturing 'no' to another guest
who had requested they hold hold their child for a photo, 'which is not permitted.' "

"The park also said the mascot likely did not see the girls due to limited vision in the costume's unwieldy mask,
which 'sometimes make it difficult to see at lower levels' leading actors to occasionally 'miss hug requests from guests.' "

:duh Apparently, cancelling the walks is the necessary solution (adults win - kids still lose):

"None of the character’s walk the street in the parade any more, and any meet and greets for her have been called off
all because of the allegations, they don’t want anyone potentially making the same claims." :finger:

:sunflower: Recently, a husband lectured his wife about her frequent complaining. "Those are just Talking Points," she insisted. "Well, please keep your TP Monologues short while I'm watching the day's news, he mumbled.

:bana: Talking Points (TP) is great euphemism to mention a past event at that retired friend's house. His little kitchen TV was getting poor reception from the cable connection to a large digital antenna in his attic. I helped him shop for a similar new TV and suggested a small digital antenna in his kitchen (actually, his wife's kitchen). She soon complained that it made her kitchen look like "the ghetto!" and demanded that he remove it. This became my task ... and required patching/painting of the nail hole. :(

8) Cool! Avant-Ghetto became the term I use to describe the den in my man-cave where I have a large digital antenna on the wall ... plus complementary (stuff) on other walls. Incidentally, few people know that (stuff) is popular euphemism in Avant-Ghetto journalism. And this suggests that a Big (Stuff) store could compete with a Big Lots here in Texas! :roll

often show a heroic pilot who saves the plane/passengers but not himself. ;)
