" 'You never really considered not playing from my standpoint,' Mattingly said. 'We're taking risks every day. Every day we're taking risks so that's what the players all around the league are doing. You know you travel all the time.' "

:duh What seems to be lost in all these discussions about what social activity is permissible is that a pandemic is a new ball game!
Comparison to other situations and risks should be complementary (at least compare to previous pandemics).

:bana: Household Tips
Re: https://livestly.com/household-items-wi ... -realized/

Handheld Ultraviolet Light Sanitizers

"When bacteria, viruses and protozoa are exposed to the germicidal wavelengths of UV light, they are rendered incapable of reproducing and infecting."

Replace Outlet Air Fresheners With Air Filters

"Unlike traditional air purifiers and fresheners that just “mask” these airborne particles with chemicals, Pure uses negative ions to destroy them. Just plug it into any outlet and walk away. The device does the rest and it’s 100% safe, natural and has no filters to replace."

Black Grating in Microwave

"the black grating on the microwave door. This is called a Faraday shield"

This also prevents your cell phone from receiving calls (or being vulnerable to EMP attack?
or being tracked? maybe cheap microwave in your car to store phone until use required) ;)

Caveat: Microwave has to be grounded to use as a shield.
Don't ever turn on the microwave with your cell phone inside!

Placing A Rubber Band Around Both Door Knobs

Caveat: Choose correct size and one that's not brittle from age
(and not all doors are noisy when slowly opened) ;)

Color-Coded Ice Cream Scoops

Get one for those bite-size scoops that go right into your mouth!

Brass Doorknobs

More resistant to bacteria and germs than other knobs.

Pocket in Women’s Underwear

Would make good storage for an "emergency" condom
(if the man wasn't prepared for the invitation)

Wooden Coat Hangers

Or hang cedar strips in closets where clothes hang for months.

Flaps on Juice Boxes

"flaps can be folded outward so that they’re easier for children to hold"
(soy milk and wine cartons have bigger flaps for adults) ;)

 Intriguing concept, this social justice protesting ...

If permitted for sports events, why not permissible for other public events?
Movie theaters (before the show), state fairs, competition runs (and other sports),
holiday parades, public funerals, church services, operas, plays, ...

:bana: Greta Thunberg should be permitted to protest Climate Change
before a sporting event ... since this is a related social problem. ;)

"Anheuser-Busch InBev is using the recognizable Budweiser brand to launch Budweiser Zero, an alcohol-free lager that tastes similar to the best-selling alcoholic beverage. One serving has 0 grams of sugar, targeting health-conscious drinkers that crave the taste of beer and don't want to deal with a hangover."

:bana: A great name "Zero" (NO alcohol AND no sugar - just flavored water?)

Good trend :!: Consumers will realize that water is free! and flavorings low cost!
Or dilute regular apple juice and add a wedge of fresh lemon. Refreshing! ;)

BTW: Isn't a hangover caused by excessive consumption of alcohol ...
not just a can or two of real beer? Faux beer goes with faux meat?

Re: https://www.theverge.com/2020/7/28/2130 ... alien-life

"In 1976, NASA sent two landers, called Viking 1 and Viking 2, to the Martian surface to actively look for signs of life. While the pair learned a great deal about Mars, they didn’t turn up any compelling evidence that life had ever existed on the planet, putting a damper on the search for a while. But in hindsight, the Viking landers were not well-equipped to answer that ultimate question. 'Compared to what we know today, they did not have a very sophisticated understanding of how to actually look for life,' says Farley."

 However, compared to planet earth, what would motivate space aliens to settle on Mars :?: :!:
Physical or psychological need for minimal life-sustaining resources? Life found there would not likely
be indicative of a once thriving civilization (IMO).

"flattened pyramid-like structures feature thick middles and thinly tapered edges. A 15-degree slope,

 Not to be confused with chips that melt at the right price. And geometrically speaking,
chips in cookie and pastry dough end up at all angles (they'll melt in different ways).

"Trader Joe's announces it will KEEP 'Trader Ming's, Trader José, and Arabian Joe' products and not pander to a petition calling them 'racist' because customers think the names are 'tongue-in-cheek'. "Trader Joe's originally claimed it had made the decision to stop selling under the alternative names before the petition came up and was phasing out the labels. After feedback from customers who like the tongue-in-cheek branding, they will be keeping names such as Trader Ming's and Trader José"

:bana: Apparent marketing resilience (those who actually buy the products/service influence the marketing*).
But government is not so resilient ... when confronted by public pressure manipulated by the media. ;)

This marketing influence also hints that the NFL will keep losing customers (fans)
if kneeling protests keep interfering with the event's purpose: sports competition.

 Actually, stimulus money is designed to stimulate the economy - not the consumer (unless to go out and stimulate the economy). Even day trading benefits traders - some "gamble", helping others who know how to "trade". Then the winners go out and stimulate the economy. ;)

From advertising for the Parliament Of The World Religions ...

"In Remembrance of Hiroshima & Nagasaki - August 6th and August 9th are dates of infamy as they mark the first and only use of nuclear weapons against civilians. Hundreds of thousands of citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan were killed in this attrocious crime against humanity."

 Of course, the rationale for use of those weapons was that this war, a war started by the country that was bombed, a war that had already cost many thousands of lives, would continue to cost many more thousands of lives! That this world war stopped soon after the bombing suggests both that bombing was effective and that such war should never start again ... since such bombing may occur once more!

"Turn the other cheek" is good policy for a slap on the wrist (or even punch in the face),
but questionable policy when many are killed by aggression (re: December 7, 1941). ;)

:sunflower: Interestingly, when considering what's good nutrition for the immune system, a third category of foods appears (besides "health food" and "other foods"): anti-health foods; these are typically commercial offerings sold as "snack foods". Why anti-health? Consider the additives, preservatives, artificial whatevers ... not to mention excess fats (like saturated) and sugars (many sweeteners) ... and COST :!:

 Who knew?! Ice cream is an anti-health food ... at least, typical ice cream now sold in grocery stores. And who eats cookies and pastries for their nutrition? Are all those sugar-laden drinks necessary for good hydration?! As for candy? "Dental health" food (creates good business for these professionals ... as well as for endocrinologists). ;)

:bana: Not to worry! Habits don't change easily. But consider which category a food is in every time you consume it and eventually (especially if declining health becomes an issue) your mind will comprehend that anti-health foods are counter-productive. Need a crutch? Define the bad stuff as "mental health" food! This should work until your physical health degrades your mental health. Or define bad stuff as "financial health" food, food sold that makes your stock investment "healthy".

Re: https://www.investmentwatchblog.com/the ... f-control/

 First thoughts ...
- A bunker with only one entrance suggests "potential tomb" more than "bunker" (one source of air, etc.).
- Protection from whatever is nice but bunkees will leave (sooner than later?), then what (and how, etc.).
- Last minute limiting of bunkee residents will not be so society friendly (making exit/sources vulnerable?).
- Last minute choice of bunker location is not a choice - it's in the ground (zero?).
- Taking COVID-19 (or whatever) to the bunker? How would you know?
