"Scott Pelley of CBS' 60 Minutes was surprised and responded: 'You don't fully understand how it works.
And yet, you've turned it loose on society?' 'Yeah. Let me put it this way. I don't think we fully understand
how a human mind works either,' Pichai said."

"Notably, the Bard system instantly wrote an essay about inflation in economics,

And while the human mind is a black box, social pressure, etc.,

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... teens.html

"new mayor-elect says it's 'not constructive' to vilify* group of rowdy teens
that torched cars in rampage organized on social media" :?

* (from Oxford languages):
"vilify - speak or write about in an abusively disparaging manner."
"rampage - sudden period of wild and violent behaviour,
often causing damage and destruction."

 An event difficult to speak or write about constructively
without insinuating disparagement, especially when
"rampage" is the purpose of the organized event.

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... -cars.html
"rampage organized on social media ...
outgoing mayor insists carnage WASN'T 'mayhem' "

 More opportunity to recall definitions (from Oxford Languages):

"carnage - the killing of a large number of people"
"mayhem - violent or damaging disorder; chaos"

Therefore ... the correct grammar would be:
"outgoing mayor insists mayhem WASN'T 'carnage' "

"New York City will track the carbon footprint of residents’ food consumption as part of a sweeping initiative
to decrease the city’s carbon emissions (CE) from food by a third this year, Mayor Eric Adams revealed on Monday ...
About a fifth of New York’s greenhouse gas emissions (GGE) come from household food consumption"

 Interesting focus on numbers (reduce food-related emissions by 1/3
when these food related emissions are now 1/5 of New York's GGE). :o

Thus, this tracking refers to 1/15 reduction (1/3 x 1/5) of NY's GGE.
From the perspective of diet, 1/15 reduction of food seems doable
(dooable if less CE fiber is substituted for other food). ;)

 On the other hand (not literally), a dooable increase
might then stress the city's sanitation department.

Hi Rod,

I may be a bit of a "downer", but I am thinking if these tourists get into trouble...somebody will need to try to rescue them. So potentially they may place other people at risk as well. I am reminded of an accident that occurred on Christmas day some years ago near where we lived in Australia. Someone thought it would be fun to be on the lip of one of the steep waterfalls on the escarpment. When they ran into trouble a rescuer was killed while trying to bring them to safety. :(

:study: About Auto-GPT ...

Re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto-GPT

"Auto-GPT is an 'AI agent' that given a goal in natural language, can attempt to achieve it by breaking it into sub-tasks and using the internet and other tools in an automatic loop. It uses OpenAI's GPT-4 or GPT-3.5 APIs, and is among the first examples of an application using GPT-4 to perform autonomous tasks."

"Observers highlight Auto-GPT's ability to iteratively write, debug, test, and edit code, even suggesting this ability may extend to Auto-GPT's own source code enabling a degree of self-improvement. However, as its underlying GPT models are proprietary, Auto-GPT cannot modify them, and it does not ordinarily have access to its own base system code."

 Apparently, much human programming (computer code as well as computer systems and networks) is the foundation of GPT, programming that is then self-modified. Auto-GPT is a higher layer of programming, performing as controller and director of its sub-tasks (e.g., GPT-4).

 Apparently, the programming is becoming a "black box" of computer processing and the data processed is a significant - but distinct - part of this system. GPT output is not threatening as edited/created information, but has potential to be threatening, depending on what happens to that information. What do humans and/or machines do next :?: :!:

"The Computer Scientist Peering Inside AI’s Black Boxes"

"Today, at least 581 AI models involved in medical decisions have received authorization from the Food and Drug Administration. Nearly 400 of them are aimed at helping radiologists detect abnormalities in medical imaging, like malignant tumors or signs of a stroke. Many of these algorithms are black boxes — either because they’re proprietary or because they’re too complicated for a human to understand." :o

 Good evidence that "AI" now includes hundreds of models, each with their own "intelligence personality" and expertise (or not). While a proprietary "black box" may be protected from decision-making discovery, it should be possible to design tests (especially Open AI) to authenticate the reliability of that decision-making. :finger:
