"You don't have to drink all that water (8 glasses).
Roughly 20% of our daily H2O comes from solid foods,
especially fruits and vegetables" ... and some from non-water drinks,
caveat being that foods (e.g., very salty) and drinks (e.g., alcoholic)
should not be dehydrating. ;)

 You probably knew this intuitively already :!:
... despite the "8 glasses" mantra.

And there are medical conditions and/or medicines
that require more water ... from water. ;)

Regarding the controversial (for decades) question:
"If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it,
does it make a sound :?: " ...

Physicists say sound waves are created whether heard or not;
physiologists say only sound waves received (perceived) are heard.

 But logically, a forest is never devoid of even the smallest creatures
which perceive these sounds, so a falling tree always makes a sound
... as well as some unfortunate creatures ("Ouch!").

"(Bitcoin) Cryptocurrency had 15 per cent wiped off its value to hit low of $5,322"
"Rival digital currencies Ether, Litecoin and XRP dropped more than 17 per cent"

 Obviously, buy low - sell high (just before other speculators sell)

Best guess: Too many digital currencies are being promoted now
and will dilute similar gains of future cRIPto currencies. :(

Ginkgo(ne) ... or was never there :?:
(at least, old age memory loss is preceded by memory) :?

 Obvious lesson: Despite marketing of supplements that promise better health,
supporting research can be questionable ... if even applicable to the product!

Amazon.com, for example, permits generous feedback from customers on supplements,
but feedback is not "research" ... and could be simply "placebo effect". ;)

 Best guess: If uncertain, let price/performance (for you) be a guide.
Know that the human body can tolerate some ineffective supplementation
... at least until the human wallet begins to complain loudly.

"More people than ever are living in RVs, in their vehicles, or on the streets, and this trend is going to accelerate greatly

 Since "street" is a common characteristic of these groups, "Streeter" would be a descriptive label ...
not to be confused with commuters who spend long hours on the streets commuting to work and back.
We might blame the inventor of the wheel ... who made Streeting possible. ;)

Excellent information about the beginning of life ... 8)
but there are reasons why development continues - in the womb - for 9 months. ;)

Note: A baby's heart beat is detectable about 6 weeks into pregnancy.

But other medical conditions (fetal abnormalities, health of mother, etc.)
would still have to be considered if abortion is thereafter proscribed.

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/arti ... ttuce.html

"CDC declares ANOTHER E. COLI outbreak linked to romaine as the agency warns NO BRAND can be considered safe"

Re: https://www.quickanddirtytips.com/healt ... vegetables

 "Even though it is no guarantee against E. coli, you still want to wash raw fruits and vegetables well before you eat them.
If you want to use something more than tap water, I recommend distilled white vinegar. It’s inexpensive, safe, and effective
in reducing surface dirt, wax, and pesticide residues. Vinegar can even kill some germs." :finger:

Bottom line: ALL produce should be washed (where appropriate) or rinsed well before eating raw (even pre-packaged produce).
Soaking for several hours followed by rinse might be effective. Cooking is a reliable solution when cooking time is correct. ;)

Ultimately (about any food): If in doubt, don't eat it :!: :!:

"apocalyptic report on climate change which estimates that 10 PER CENT of GDP will be lost to man-made global warming by 2100"

Since 2100 - 2018 = 82 years, elimination of man-made climate change (much of that is caused by burning fossil fuels for electricty,
commercial/private transportation, heating, etc.), should be doable ... even within several decades. :finger:

Climate change not caused by man (solar activity, volcanoes, etc.) is likely to continue for several more decades.

 While contemplating the new genders
(a creative summary of perspectives) ...

Gen_A - gender desired (re: Attraction)
Gen_B - non-brain features (re: Body)
Gen_C - brain influence (re: brain Cortex)
Gen_D - gender perceived (re: Dominant)
Gen_E - gender diverse (re: Elastic)

 I wondered how same sex attraction is now redefining "male" and "female".

Seems to me, a male (physically) who identifies as a typical male (for millennia)
and a female (physically) who identifies as a typical female are that gender ...
regardless of any sex attraction anomaly.

;) A person, neither male nor female (by millennia standards), is "other" ...
further delineated by the "new genders". Methinks the majority of humans
- for millennia - have been and identified as either "male" or "female".

Only in this millennium are the "other" being defined, with incorrect (IMO)
definition spillover to the two primary (for millennia) genders. Of course,
personal opinion, quickly drafted, can be somewhat elastic.

 Three possible solutions ...
1. Make more babies - all reasonable ages can help.
2. Redefine those adults, ages 19-21, as "children",
especially if they're living with their parents. ;)
3. Require children, ages 18-21, to earn money
that can be taxed to fund Social Security. :o

An experiential observation ...

 There are many news and information web sites today that started as free sites, but now need funding to continue their service. That viewers have become "addicted" to these sources despite their ability to pay (at least, for most of them), creates an addiction similar to drugs. This addiction is so new that both sellers and buyers are still trying to evaluate what happened and what are the practical solutions. :finger:

Living on fixed income, I'm persuaded to scan day old and discounted merchandise in grocery stores. Perhaps, web sites needing funding could offer day old and discounted news and information. Acceptance of food stamps, IOUs, and promise of remembrance in a will would help. ;)

:study: True story: I recently reduced my newspaper subscription to Sunday Only to minimize expenses.

Then, my next statement mentioned that since six special editions will now arrive each year, 3-month billing is discontinued. At least, with monthly billing and the added cost of unrequested special editions, it's easy to see that I'm now paying more for the Sunday Only subscription than I was for a Weekend+Friday subscription (last year's effort to reduce expenses).

This will teach me not to downsize my subscription; cancellation is still an option
... if I didn't need the used (or not) newspaper to line my trashcan.

Regarding news and information web sites needing funding ...

 Few are the sites that can survive on subscription income alone,
suggesting that advertising of products and/or services is necessary,
with associated sales a reasonable expectation. ;)
