since supplies (and mail) are still being delivered to the island ... apparently. :?

Re: https://www.avogel.co.uk/health/enlarge ... -prostate/

 By now, everybody knows that nutrition advice can be found everywhere!
This article mentions food causes of (and solutions to) inflammation.

And "irritated bladder" (rather than full bladder) can often be the cause of this urgency: "undiluted urine can irritate the bladder, thus causing more frequent trips to the toilet. Drinking lots of water, however, will keep urine diluted so this should make you feel comfortable longer term."

 I've noticed that diabetes medicine (which results in more urination to eliminate excess blood sugar) seems to cause similar bladder irritation ... even without a full bladder! Of course, a really full bladder is another urgency.

[contemplative interlude from so much coronavirus controversy]

:study: Re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_identity

"Gender identity is the personal sense of one's own gender. Gender identity can correlate with a person's assigned sex at birth or can differ from it. Gender expression typically reflects a person's gender identity, but this is not always the case. While a person may express behaviors, attitudes, and appearances consistent with a particular gender role, such expression may not necessarily reflect their gender identity. The term gender identity was originally coined by Robert J. Stoller in 1964."

 Who knew :?: :!: That "gender" quietly transitioned in recent decades from meaning "person's assigned sex at birth" to "personal sense of one's own gender" and that this transition was so easily accepted by modern society! In other words, assigned sex at birth became insignificant information in recent decades - one's personal sense is what everyone wants to see, overtly expressed - not hidden in a closet.

Or maybe the hiding is what's so intriguing! If your closet identity is what everyone sees then that's uninteresting. Male? Female? uninteresting! ... unless associated with a lesser-known wannabe identity. Maybe this is the allure of TikTok, etc. - you can entertain (shock?) the world with other identity! Besides, physical identify of male or female is better contrast when less confirming of personal sense now openly expressed.

 Who knew :?: :!: That personal sense of gender identity would eventually be categorized as 76* (there must be dozens more to discover!). Unfortunately, evolutionary gender (male, female) is excruciatingly slow in complementing personal sense (surgical expertise is becoming an effective option). So slow in fact, that assigned sex at birth may require new terms to better communicate that evolution has long been outdated science. Best guess: The new terms will need to at least acknowledge human source of sperm and human source of egg (plus accompanying womb for development of the egg). * https://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/ ... book-users

Not to worry :!: The new terms, if well chosen,
will not forecast personal sense of identity to be discovered years (decades?) later. :finger:

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... -week.html

"The Metropolitan Transportation Commission approved a plan that would require Bay Area residents to work from home three days a week. The proposal, which was voted on Wednesday, would ensure that sizable, office-based companies keep 60 per cent of their workers home. Transportation officials hope it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and curb climate change in the area." :finger:

 Intriguing plan, especially since a city coastal climate is but a constantly changing mini portion of world climate. Yet, such experimentation helps determine what jobs (type of work) can be performed at home or in office space close to home. And this experimentation will help create the things necessary to minimize much (some?) work-related travel. Of course, this working from home is not a coronavirus alternative (temporary arrangement) - it probably requires a real home office (or office space close to home).

Re: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nat ... 553152001/

"Newsom signed a law on Saturday requiring California to house transgender inmates in prisons based on their gender identity -
but only if the state does not have 'management or security concerns.' "

"officers must ask inmates privately during the intake process if they identify as transgender, nonbinary or intersex."

 Not a good time to have uncertainty about personal sense of identity (isolation to a specific area of the prison effectively publicizes one's preferred identity, perhaps increasing vulnerability when in a different area of the prison). So, it's best to ask about 'management or security concerns' BEFORE revealing personal identity (not being placed in a related area of the prison could be problematic).

:study: From Wikipedia ...

"Transgender people have a gender identity or gender expression that differs from their sex assigned at birth."

"Gender binary is the classification of gender into two distinct, opposite forms of masculine and feminine"
(apparently, "non-binary" means other than "masculine" and "feminine").

"Intersex people are born with sex characteristics (including genitals, gonads and chromosome patterns)
that do not fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies."

 Trying to isolate genders (personal sense) could create more problems than it solves
... until prisons can maintain the required isolated/secure areas. ;)

OMG! Is '$199.99' still too difficult to comprehend as '$200.00' minus one cent :?: :!:

 Apparently, shoppers have been so exposed to '.99' advertising for so long that, subconsciously, '.99' is inherently a good sale price!
... regardless of the preceding digits. Or more likely, '.99' is simply a super effective advertising device to get visual attention. ;)

:bana: However, retirement-era shoppers quickly learn to identify '.99' as a clue to skip to a different store's advertising ...
like the Dollar Tree store where all items are just one dollar (and probably cheaper because they're sold in a "Dollar" store).
That some "Dollar" store items are cheaper at Walmart is a different lesson.

Note: This Sunday paper's advertising for a major grocery/household items store includes MANY '.99' prices!

"DeSantis lifted all restrictions on restaurants and other businesses in Florida on Friday in a move to reopen the state’s economy despite the spread of the coronavirus. 'We’re not closing anything going forward,' DeSantis said, while insisting that the state is prepared with plans in place if infections increase again."

Best guess #1: This retirement state has good mortuary capacity. ;)

Best guess #2: If you're elderly and "at risk" you should have made those plans long ago.

Best guess #3: Meals will be bargain-priced until customers keep returning (drink prices may not be so low). :roll

Re: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/bisexua ... 18579.html

"Mackenzie Harte of GLAAD tells ... 'The most important thing about defining any identity is respecting how individual people describe themselves. At GLAAD, our go-to definition for 'bisexual' is 'anyone who has the capacity to form enduring physical, romantic, or emotional attractions to those of genders like their own and genders unlike their own.' ”

 "Enduring" seems to be an important qualifier (a "bi-fling" would be baffling ... as would "bi" and "non-bi" relationships with different people at the same time). And while "intellectual" and "spiritual" relationships can also be enduring, "no" relationship seems the only unspoken taboo (but "support" pets count - maybe not pet rocks). ;)

 How does this work?! A non-physical "sexual" relationship.

:bana: Suddenly, while viewing an earlier interview of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsberg, when she mentioned her childhood moment of being directed in penmanship class to write with her right hand but soon reverting back to left-handedness, brain wiring came to mind! Extrapolation from this revealed (to me) that brain wiring also explains the apparent continuum of human sexuality. :o

 That is, brain wiring plus nurture ("nature vs nurture") is the secret of such variety in human sexuality. Insisting that a left-handed person write with their right hand is tantamount to insisting that a person's existing sexuality be constrained to a societal norm.

"JAL will be dropping 'ladies and gentlemen' in favor of more inclusive greetings like 'attention all passengers' and 'welcome, everyone' "

 "All passengers" is VERY inclusive, considering that some passengers are support animals ... and gender neutrality informs that the human passenger next to you may be neither "male" nor "female" (so don't make assumptions).

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech ... -year.html

"On board the ISS there is a toilet which has several attachments. As there is no gravity in space, liquids do not flow but accumulate in floating globes. To counter this problem, there are hoses which are used and provide pressure to suck the fluid from the body. Each astronaut has their own personal attachment. The condom catheters came in three sizes: small, medium, and large. Despite the practical advantages of having the right size, the astronauts often ordered the large ones and this resulted in a leakage of urine in the suit. To combat this, NASA renamed the sizes as large, gigantic, and humongous to appease the male ego."

 Renaming was probably unnecessary for the other side (medium poops are usually claimed)

Today's No-Brainer #2: Bisexuals would probably have bigraines (affecting both hemispheres of the brain).

"A panel of judges rejected the appeal Tuesday, ruling that the bread sold by Subway contains too much sugar to be categorized as a 'staple food,' which is not taxed. 'There is no dispute that the bread supplied by Subway in its heated sandwiches has a sugar content of 10% of the weight of the flour included in the dough, and thus exceeds the 2% specified,' the judgement read. The law makes a distinction between 'bread as a staple food' and other baked goods 'which are, or approach, confectionery or fancy baked goods,' the judgement said."

 Who knew?! that a breakfast pastry is not a staple food (according to this tax law).
Seems to explain why simple pastries cost more than an equal portion of bread. ;)

 Maybe citizens could be taxed by their weight that's caused by sugar-laden foods
... but this would be double taxation with bodily representation.
