"According to NASA, the Sun will reach its lowest activity in over two centuries in 2020. As a result of it going into a natural period of hibernation, Earth could see temperatures drop, resulting in food shortages on a global scale. The temperature could also drop by as much as one degree Celsius over a period of roughly 12 months—an incremental yet significant change in climate conditions"

"there’s another major health threat that seems to be getting lost in the fray: the flu. :o

An estimated 19 million Americans have been infected with the flu so far this season, and 180,000 of them have been hospitalized because of the illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The flu virus has already killed an estimated 10,000 people across the U.S., including 68 children, according to the CDC. In fact, the 2019-2020 flu season is shaping up to be one of the worst in years."

"If this AI-powered simulation continues to accurately forecast the trajectory of this outbreak, approximately 2 million people
will be dead 30 days from now, and after that the numbers really start skyrocketing."

 So far ... simulation models seem focused on the Chinese experience - not on what is happening in Western cities
(often with better health care, etc., than in rural Chinese communities and with rural influence in cities). ;)

:finger: On the positive side ...
we're beginning to comprehend that the greater problem is often those who unknowingly share such disease.

 Speaking of AI ...

Re: https://www.theguardian.com/culture/202 ... dont-exist

"With this technology already inextricably and often problematically intertwined with sexual content, some are predicting that
even more spurious videos making use of the same fake-face technology might be the next avenue that the adult industry looks to.

A growing body of research into creating full-body deepfakes also raises questions about the potential uses and misuses of GANs.
In April 2019, a Japanese artificial intelligence company developed an AI that can automatically generate entire bodies in motion."

 Interesting trend ...
Imagination depicted as real - even if advertised as fake - might soon be illegal :!:

 About the coronavirus ...

Current news hints that airborne virus is more problematic than what is touched or consumed.
This might be the result of the body's major immune response to the virus as breathed
(hinting that dormitory-style beds in cramped quarters are ideal for sharing infection).

:finger: Best guess: Good masks* as well as properly filtered air are needed most,
with serious hygiene to support the attempted prevention. ;)

* even eye protection seems important since viruses
thrive in warm moist places. :o

An occasional slice of raw ginger in hot green tea is soothing.
Garlic and natural vitamin C are recently touted as preventive
(try Hot 'n Garlicky Chicken Soup with lotsa fresh veggies). :roll

Perhaps, a daily offering by family style restaurants. :finger:

makes daily servings convenient! (add cooked protein when heating).
Serve with slices of raw lemon and orange. :roll

(supplements shown to strengthen the immune system against viruses)

Vitamin C: 3,000 milligrams in divided doses
Vitamin D3: 2,000 International Units daily

"A few examples of these new age baby names include Jaspin, Elisobelle, Wrenlow, and Maevery.
Don’t see any names you like? How about Tovin or Evabeth?"

:bana: Baby names could be like passwords (at least two letters, two numbers, two special characters);
phonetic is best (child doesn't have to pronounce name so often). But this might be the advantage:
the name will get more attention (initially) if it's mispronounced in the media.

 "Urname" (pronounced "your nah me") leads to "Who's on first?" humor:

Teacher (thinking "your name"): "What's your name?"
Child: "The name I was given at birth."
Teacher: "Yes, what's your name?"
Child: "That's how it's spelled!"
Teacher: "Go to the principal's office."
Child: "What's an "off us"?

:bana: True story ...

At age seven I began living in my second foster home. Since I had been previously isolated from typical domesticity,
I didn't know "dust pan" when my foster mother asked me to bring it to her. I reasoned that a pan that could hold dust
was what she wanted. When I brought it to her, she yelled "Turn around! I'm going to whoop your beep-beep!" :o

 Thinking that I should have brought the beep-beep with the pan, I ran back to look for the beep-beep.
When she began chasin' me around the kitchen I slowly surmised that I already had a beep-beep ...
and that the pan was not big enough for the dust.

True story ... with late adult hindsight. ;)
