"Mets fire GM after reportedly sending explicit pictures to female reporter in 2016"

:duh So many years into the digital age and men (usually) still send such photos!
using public communciation systems (they're not so private ... and recipients
then have the option of sharing the photos later with whomever).

"Kroger quietly rolled out the new carts at its Madeira store, branded 'KrogGo.' The technology allows shoppers to load up
their cart with groceries, then pay by swiping their credit or debit card at the cart, then head for the parking lot."

 Apparently, cash will not be a future medium of exchange ...
and these carts will have sensors to know what's in them.
(kids cannot ride in these - only items to be purchased) ;)

"There's no cap on income affecting happiness, despite previous evidence" :o

"Across decisions big and small, having more money gives a person more choices and a greater sense of autonomy."

"More than 33,000 people participated in the study — and in the end, Killingsworth says the data showed
that 'all forms of well-being continued to rise with income'." ;)

 "Money cannot buy happiness" may refer to those who have sufficient money for their needs but are not happy.
For those without sufficient money for their needs experience more sadness (and worry, etc.) than happiness.

"executive order pushing schools to include transgender athletes in girls' sports"

 While getting political attention, this is a different social problem
because the physical body at birth is decidedly male or female
with the brain not necessarily in sync with that body. :?

The physical ability of that body first associates with maleness
or femaleness until modern medical science redesigns it,
but usually limits redesign to external appearance.

"Users enter the number of the person they want to have sex with and send a request -
the other person is then given the option to accept or reject it."

 If you enter the wrong number, do you have to hide in the closet for 24 hours
when an undesired gender or age or whatever accepts your offer?
Does the contract then lock you out of other engagements?
Does the 24-hour consent mean 24 hours of sex?
What if you need a few more minutes?

"The four-page report is a memo sent from the U.S. officials, looking both at Soviet research into the chemicals

"volunteers in both Novosibirsk and Leningrad attempted psychically to relay to one another
images of geometric shapes such as squares or circles" 8)

 No psychic experiment has yet relayed a circle and square having identical areas :!:
But relay of a circle-squaring triangle (inscribed in a circle), with a certain ratio*
of hypotenuse (circle's diameter) to long side, might confirm such expertise. ;)

"Bitcoin Investors May Lose Everything, Central Banker Warns"

 Until bitcoin (many blockchain platforms) become stable currency,
"investors" can only mean "greedy, risk-enticed day traders" ...
with "greedy" referring to those who try to "time the market". ;)

Re: https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/29/investin ... index.html

"It's the latest bizarre twist in the retail investing revolt making front pages all over the world.
The surge came after a popular Reddit forum — not unlike ... group behind GameStop's rally —
set its sights on pumping up the digital currency."

 "Pumping up" is often associated with "marketing hype" - not true market value. ;)
In the old days, an "investor" had to dabble in Penny Stocks (which were often hyped).

:bana: There needs be an app that calculates a "sell" time,
perhaps by deflating one's "expertly calculated" timing
and including one's risk avoidance sensitivity.

(those who behave independently with little concern for societal classification) ;)

 Too early to incorporate into now popular insect food,
