" 'police say that “caravans of cars full of looters' have been roaming around systematically searching for targets. Authorities have been trying to crack down on these caravans of looters, but that has proven to be quite difficult because many of them are heavily armed."

 More evidence that looting is the goal - not the protesting of police mistreatment
(which provides good preparation and "political cover" for the looting). :(

Re: https://off-guardian.org/2020/05/31/its ... narrative/

:duh A bullsht narrative about the bullsht narative!

The reporting problem (e.g., "death rate is average") may be statistical:
With a population of only one million, a death rate of even 1 percent
is still a lot of graves to dig so quickly (10,000).

 More explanation why the police officers responded as they did ...
and why the media focused only on the extremes of that response. :o

Nevertheless, the country learns a good lesson ...
both about the media and (hopefully) how "escalating force"
by some police departments needs quick improvement. :finger:

Ultimately, every person forcefully taken into custody
still needs to live and well for the courts to act next.

Until then, maybe only communities willing to pay for police protection should have it. Incidentally,
private security companies seem to be filling this role when less public protection is the norm.
Then again, this private protection is rarely community-wide.

Reasonable new direction ...
when need for police protection no longer exists.
:bana: Actually, less police protection (and more weapons permitted for
citizens, store owners, and their staff) might provide rapid resolution
when counterfeit currency is passed, for aggravated robbery,
and for drug-induced assault. :o

 But this inspires recollection of the Wild West, portrayed in old movies
(and probably why this societal self-control is no longer encouraged). ;)

[a comment] "The man aggressively approached them, after curfew, and refused to obey police commands to vacate the area."

 Obviously, these nationwide protests include people who want more "protest" than peaceful resistance!
But police are usually trained to respond with determined force, hinting that these less-than-peaceful protests
require different training (to minimize rioting and looting, costs passed on to the protesting community). ;)

Again, the media only show the moments of police response to the agitation that arouses them. :(

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... sters.html

"If a store's windows must be broken to prevent a protester's facial bones from being broken or eye being permanently damaged,
that is more than a fair trade ... while cops have a 'very difficult and often thankless job,' protesters 'have an absolute right
to demonstrate and protest the actions of government officials, including police officers.' "

:bana: Judge Jackson is effectively arguing that "free speech" includes the right to damage property
... and by extension of his argument, the right to injure people trying to protect the property ...
and the right to take stuff from the property. Such is now the "right of protest"! :o

 And no one argues that protection/prevention may cause harm to a person protesting. ;)

 "Free speech" is defined so differently than when conceived by the U.S. Constitution!
Not a problem! - this just needs better clarification by the U.S. Supreme Court ...
so that police can be properly trained ... since "all lives matter". :finger:

8) This would reduce the need for 911 police support (it's rarely reported in the media

Also, more people could carry weapons to solve their own "minor" problems.
And "gated communities" with private protection would still be an option.
