Re: https://www.reviewed.com/refrigerators/ ... our-fridge

 On the other hand ...
A colorfully cluttered refrigerator distracts from a messy kitchen.

Besides, without the decorative clutter, the first thing you think of
whenever lookin' at the refrigerator is food - not good memories. ;)
... or will this old refrigerator last another year?

 (ignoring the politics of this and focusing on the proposal to rename)
Throughout history - worldwide - renaming occurs, but going forward
shouldn't renaming occur for positive reasons - not negative :?: :!:

 At least, sweep the negative "under the rug" (rewrite history)
and promote celebratory renaming. ;)

Re: https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/jim-bre ... ats-newsom

"(homelessness) has expanded far beyond those cities. It has now reached virtually all parts of the state, including, according to reports, the state’s water. In Sausalito just north of San Francisco, neighbors are sparring with local politicians over a homeless population floating off its shores in makeshift boats!" :o

 Photos of places homeless people choose to construct their temporary shelters give evidence that their homelessness is not a choice (preferred style of living). If the homeless can secure temporary shelters and daily food for themselves, shouldn't cities at least provide a place for these shelters? Of course, with no transportation, the homeless would need either transporation or more convenient living places :!:

:!: :!: Entrepreneur Alert ...
Even some of the homeless have cell phones - create an app for donations to a 21-Day Park, for example, to host a place to live for 21 days. Such short term parks, properly enforced (with toilets) and limited in occupancy (limited by number of people - not shelters), would discourage permanent residency but give sufficient stability to survive until a miracle occurs (no more homelessness).

... and these 21-Day Parks can faciliate a "triage" transition for the more promising or needy (as "with children", elderly, or handicapped) to move to a longer residency place - even community center, private home, etc. 8)

Re: https://www.foxnews.com/health/processe ... udy-claims

"'I thought that if we matched the two diets for components like sugars, fat, carbohydrates, protein and sodium, there wouldn’t be anything magical about the ultra-processed food that would cause people to eat more,' says lead author Kevin Hall of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at the NIH."

"The 'landmark' research, appearing in the journal Cell Metabolism, shows that 'ultra-processed' foods may actually have something habit-forming in them, pushing people to overeat and gain more weight than those on a whole food or minimally processed food diet." ;)

 In addition to lab-studied chemcials that encourage continual and/or over-consumption of processed foods, processed foods usually don't need to be chewed as well as less processed foods ... so it's easier to gobble with gusto.

Re: https://nypost.com/2019/05/18/chinas-ne ... o-reality/

"But an embarrassing ring tone, flight bans and slow trains are just the beginning of the dystopian nightmare that is now daily life in China for tens of millions of people. A low social credit score will exclude you from well-paid jobs, make it impossible for you to get a house or a car loan or even book a hotel room. The government will slow down your internet connection, ban your children from attending private schools and even post your profile on a public blacklist for all to see." :(

"There are reports that those whose social credit score falls too low are preemptively arrested and sent to re-education camps. Not because they have actually committed a crime, but because they are likely to."

 See also: http://www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question95438.html
"No code of law can envisage the myriad changing situations that determine moral obligations. Moreover, there must be one legal code for all, but moral codes vary as much as the individual characters of which they are the expression."

 Maybe this earlier concern about legislating morality only applies to the West - not Far East
... or the West's "Carrot or Stick" perspective translates favoring a (Chop)stick Bias.

 I've long believed that toasters were designed for two people living together, married or not.
But an old preacher told me that two-slice toasters were intended for a married man and woman. :o
Now, a recently married lesbian couple told me that their old toaster has been "gay" for decades ...
since they can toast the two slices of bread the same way.

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/arti ... ledge.html

 Some thoughts about these "30 of the top tips from Good Housekeeping" ...

2. Use a microfibre cloth instead of a glass cleaner to clean smartphone screens.
Glass cleaners can damage the coating that stops fingerprints building up on the screen.

@ Gritty fingers probably damage the screen more :!:

3. Use whitening toothpaste, which is abrasive, with an old toothbrush to clean out grout.

@ Dentists insist that tooth enamel is harder than grout.

6. Use an 'e-cloth' mop which uses only water and ditch floor cleaning liquids.

@ I still haven't found the e-cloth marketed to cleanup old e-mail. :?

7. Line salad drawers of a fridge with a kitchen towel to catch stray veg before chucking away.

@ There's no chucking away later if you never eat old produce. ;)

8. Wash make up brushes in warm soapy water with a little coconut oil to keep clean.

@ What's a "make up" brush? Device used to clean up after "make up" sex?

9. A can of compressed air gets rid of stubborn crumbs in a computer keyboard.

@ Can needs to be a loud horn to get rid of stubborn crumbs who won't leave after the party.

13. Washing a vacuum cleaner tube in warm, soapy water dislodges blockages to help suction.

@ A broom handle inserted into the tube also works! "What's a broom :?: ", Millennials and Gen Z ask.

12. Add dishwasher rinse aid to water when you clean your windows for a streak free finish.

@ At U.T. Austin (a few decades ago ; - ) police kept the campus streak free. :(

21. Clean dusty blinds by putting a slightly damp sock over your hand and running it between the slats.

@ I'll have to buy more socks - I use the old ones for dusting floors as I shuffalo to Buffalo. 8)

23. Always use cold water with bleach as hot water can render the active ingredients useless.

@ I finally remembered what "hot water" is after replacing my water heater ... 5 years later. :roll

30. Don't clean things more than you need to. Use a checklist to differentiate between daily, weekly and monthly jobs.

@ "Been there! Doing that!" Many cleaning tasks (personal and otherwise) can be redefined as "biannual, yearly,
and getting a round toit" ... for busy college students, the homeless, and limited income retirees.

"The process, which involves using wood chips, straw and other materials, takes approximately four weeks
and is related to methods of 'livestock composting' which ranchers and farmers have been using for several years."

Re: https://www.ag.ndsu.edu/publications/li ... -livestock

Not exactly bury into composting material then harvest the new soil four weeks later:
occasional mechanical tilling is required to expedite this type of composting. :o

Rod,
My kids introduced me to "Stranger- Thing" when I visited last. I got quickly hooked. Loved it...hmmm but not a fan of old New Coke.
Still life is an adventure. So who knows second time around. :)

"What did Jamie expect to happen when he tried to charge restaurant prices
for cheap and cheerful food he taught us to make at home for half the price?"

 Customers have price tolerance for convenience (no cooking at home)
and ambience (eating at a restaurant), but there's a limit; local competition
further constrains the higher prices. Also, most restaurant dining
is a self-gifted treat - not necessity. ;)

Re: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/arti ... -oils.html

"Demodex, as they are called, are tiny creatures that live near hair follicles - including the fine, invisible facial and nipple hair on all of us
"the female of the species lays about 15 to 20 eggs inside the hair follicle near the sebaceous glands."

 ... not to mention bedding and bed clothing that harbor munching mites,
hinting that sleeping in the nude permits more harboring in the bed :?:

OMG :!: This article inspires an unplanned trip to the shower ...
with more frequent redo of bedding - even burning the PJs.

"'The Congresswoman @AOC does not know the difference between weather and climate,' wrote Maue.
'Let's try an easy analogy: Weather is what outfit you wear heading out the door. Climate is your closet wardrobe.'"

 What's intriguing about this exchange is that AOC (IMO) was alluding to changes in the wardrobe
that affect the outfits available. This confusion (the exchange) hints that we need to think through
media presentations, especially of controversial topics, and not take sides without knowing the facts. ;)
