I read this book Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
And i like it.

I have some questions.

Was there an alchemist in this world?
and were they able to turn some metal into gold?

and also i have a completely different question.

Is marijuana bad??
Do you know what Midwayers think about marijuana?
I smoke about once a week and sometimes when im high, i feel more spiritual , so i dont think its bad.. except it makes me lazy once a while.

Thanks.

There is an alchemist, by the name of Sai Baba, who is still alive, and pays his taxes by materialising gold bars. He also has a neat trick of materialising gold rings. Do I believe he can do it? Yes I do. He is an Indian holy man. But he creates these out of thin air.

No Celestial has ever supported the usage of mind altering drugs. Period. They also will not support anything that damages your body.

Geoff.

It is thought that marijuana (during the period of intoxication) tends to dislodge dendrites from the cerebral neurons and promote incorrect (inappropriate) re-connections to other neurons of differing workgroups, permanently altering your overall perception of reality as it suits you living on this planet.

Smoking marijuana is likely to "take you to aspects of schizophrenia" depending on your innate slant towards that illness. Some go slow, some remarkably fast with the ingestion of THC. Some lose the story-line completely with flashbacks years later.

All are memory affected in the end, and it is productive of endogynous-type depressions.

You cannot count on any input from Celestials being anywhere near accurate if you smoked the drug within 4 weeks of making contact.

Frankly, cigarettes aren't all that much better, but do not compare to the damage THC does.

My view, and uni. research....

Dear friends and siblings

Allow me to add to the discussion on marijuana. Years ago there was an article in the Reader's Digest discussing the effects of marijuana. A scientific article had stated that the use of this 'grass' promotes bigger clefts/gaps between the synapses which fire the electrical energy between the neurons. This causes mis-firings and promotes damage in the brain cells.

IMHO, this is too great a price to pay for a temporary high, with the inevitable let-down with the great danger that a negative and potentially dangerous habit becomes established, which adds nothing to genuine spiritual experience and may well have in the long run an adverse effect on spiritual growth. Usage of any chemical substance would be best to be avoided.

A few musings from

Thanks, Beaver,

Never too old to learn. I thought only the cerebral dendrites paid the price. I missed that detail in my psych magazines.

You are a veritable storehouse of "physiology data".

Hugs....

My brother-in-law smoked it for 15 odd years and now he has some kind of depression which he has to take medication for for the rest of his life. If he stops taking it, he loses his memory and the plot completely!
Also, he has M.S. but i'm not sure it's related.

The high you experience is nothing compared to the high you get when you connect with a Celestial or your T.A. Honest!

We really know little about ourselves. Some dogs and cats have better pedigrees and medical records, too, than do us humans.

Then there are healthy :albino: :albino: :albino: :albino: :albino: :albino: :albino: :albino: :albino: :albino: :albino: especially on Phil and Petra's farm.

Enough of that.... going to hit the hay... don't play up too much.

Complicated, but it does make some sense. Let me 'mull' this over.

Thx a lot for the informations...
i feel love and caring on this board
im going to smoke less but i don't think i'll quit this time.
smoking had negative effects on me but it also had some good sides.
for example, it helped me listen to music better.
i think marijuana is bad for most people
but for some people, i think it's ok if used responsibly.

i got another questions... if you don't mind.
Why did God create marijuana if it's bad?..
this might be a stupid question but i had to ask..

also yesterday i saw 9:11 and not too long after,
I was gunned at. right next to my head..
the guy wanted my money but i drove off without getting shot or giving my money.. fortunately.
Do prompts have different meaning for everyone?
if it does, i guess 9:11 to me means 'go home'

Hi again, thanks for your question

Marijuana is used to help people with AIDS and HIV cope with their debilitating disease. It's here and there finallybeing legalized for this purpose.

There is a reason for everything under the sun.

It's the people's choice what they do with it.

Hope this creates a bit more insight

Cheers from

Hi Rapslow,
Is marijuana bad??

Like the beaver stated, there are many medicinal uses for marijuana; therefore, marijuana in and of itself is not bad. I believe it's bad in the aspect that it damages your body and mind which can hinder your spiritual development. Have you ever seen the commercial that goes something like this: "this is your brain ( :D ) & this is your brain on drugs" ( :shaking: ).

I do understand that many people experiment with drugs (during their younger years) -- and eventually move on to more important things in life. I believe that it becomes dangerous when experimentation leads to habitual use. Marijuana is also known as a "Gateway" Drug, which can lead to the abuse of other drugs.

I had a couple of cousins and friends I was very close to while growing up. We all went our different ways after high school and I hadn't seen them in a few years. When we eventually met up with each other, they were no longer the same people; they even sounded different (it was quite evident that their collapse in character/personality was due to their drug use).

Among many other wonderful gifts, I believe that God has given us one physical body and we have the free-will to do with our bodies as we choose; however, in order to be closer to him, we must positively develop our body, mind and spirit.
im going to smoke less but i don't think i'll quit this time.
smoking had negative effects on me but it also had some good sides.
So you are consciously choosing to cause harm to your body?
for example, it helped me listen to music better.

There are many other healthy ways to "open your mind" such as sincere prayer, meditation, the AC and stillness. Petra stated it very well when she said :
The high you experience is nothing compared to the high you get when you connect with a Celestial or your T.A. Honest!
It's great that you are asking these questions and you may even want to search the web in regards to the effects of drug use.

Dear rapslow, you're in denial, mate! And that is exactly what Nick, (afore-mentioned brother-in-law) used to say! Did I mention, he's back in hospital with amnesia 'for forgetting to take his tablets' again!

Hi there dear Petra,

<<< Also, he has M.S. but i'm not sure it's related. >>>

It does make sense, likely related. Beaver states the synapses are involved, I only knew of the cerebral neuron connections.

Dear friends and siblings,

MS can also be a left-over from early childhood measles, 'asleep/dormant' in the spine, and when the conditions are ripe as in a weakened immune system, can awaken and damage the sheaths around the neurons so mis-firings happen.

Yoga has been know to offer relief to weakened muscles to keep them under control, in other words, create new neuronal pathways through movement. Brain Gym and EDU K are an other excellent source for growing new connections in the brainand nervous system destroyed by MS

Hope this info helps,

Cheers,
the beaver

Dear Rapslow,

Sorry I didn't reply to your post earlier. I've been thinking about it. Something I used to do when I wanted to haul off and give my kids a boot in the behind. Their father ended up in rehab for smoking "just a little weed" everynight back in the glory days of the 70's. Went right on to the hard stuff, anything he could get his hands on. The man is a neurological and psychological disaster now. Thankfully he's married to someone else.
If civilizations that used mind altering drugs to enhance their spiritual lives were so smart, why haven't they survived? The only reason people use drugs is to decrease inhibitions which makes them feel relaxed and happy. Chronic use actually leads to depression, cognitive impairment, lung cancer, empysema and reduced sperm count. Maybe that's why those civilizations didn't make it.

Here is what the Urantia Book has to say about you and your Father Fragment:
...how unkind knowingly to defile or otherwise deliberately to pollute the physical body, which must serve as the earthly tabernacle of this marvelous gift from God. All physical poisons greatly retard the efforts of the Adjuster to exalt the material mind...pg.1204

I remember once hearing Deepak Chopra talking on the radio and someone asked him about why people have adictions and he said they were searching ---- for God outside themselves and don't realize that they are actually searching for God . Instead of searching for God inside themselves made me think about that statement for quite awhile. ( sorry if this statement isn't quite clear) but I heard this many years ago. Love Judy2

Hi Judy2,
I've read this and believe it to be true. That people who use drugs are sub-consciously seeking to fill a spiritual void. The 12 step program is a beautifully spiritual process that helps to fill that longing for connection and meaning

Rapslow,
My son has suffered a great deal because of drugs... it all started with pot. Don't want to sound like a preaching granny but I pray that you find the divine within yourself and fill that void to over flowing!

Peace on ya Mate!

Just want to make clear that this is just the way that I talk to my son and has nothing to do with all of the good advice given here
