A Course in Miracles

After several readings of the Urantia Book and meeting with a Urantia study group, I still felt hungry for more..... I then found this 11:11 site, have read hundreds of "Teaching Mission" and 11:11 Celestial transcripts. I've tried to get up to speed with "The Correcting Time" efforts world wide and about two months ago was prompted to buy "A Course in Miracles" at Barnes & Noble Bookstore.

Like the Urantia Book, this requires some mental effort to focus on all that is being discussed. I feel if fits in nicely with everything I've been learning.

Are there any other readers of this book here on the Angels Message Board? Any comments?

God Bless,

A Course in Miracles

A Learner,

I read the book 4 years ago and found it enlightening but very difficult. It's odd that you bring it up. A few weeks ago, I came across a study group in the next town and was prompted to inquire about it. I haven't done so yet, but perhaps it's time. I think it would be easier to understand in a group setting with discussion. Of course, each to his own style of learning, do what ever is best for you. I would be open to an on-line discussion about it.

I have the book, and enjoyed it immensely. I did not do all the exercises, but I gather I did not need to. Bear in mind the book was designed to convert an atheist into a theist. I also discovered that the book as it is sold is not original, and I managed to get the original, called the Jesus Course in Miracles (JCIM) and I found that even easier for me to relate to.

I think the book is best for folks that really need a lot of work to open to spirit, especially those who have been abused.

There is some controversy over who the source is, and I personally believe it is Sananda, who was Jesus' Thought Adjuster while he walked this earth. "we" asked Jesus, and he just laughed.

love,
Geoff.

Thanks, forget me not and Geoff for your comments.

I really like the teachings with regard to the ego and the challenge of control which we all struggle with in its regard.

Trusting to Holy Spirit for input and less and less on our own egos defensive nature seems to resonate with me. As I try to become more spiritually minded and finding that I've said or done something that I'm prompted to examine as having been "not very nice", I see that it was my egotistical thoughts or behaviors that dominated.

Though I've seen no celestial and heard no voices, I truly believe that the answers to my requests for guidance have come in the continued prompts to recognize when ego dominated over spirit. Obviously my goal is to improve on the reverse of this OLDER pattern.

That, so far, has been the greatest value of reading this book a little each day. It approaches these lessons from a truly CELESTIAL perspective. I would not be surprised to learn that a God Fragment associated with Jesus/Michael would be its source. Logic, wisdom, insight and LOVE dominate its approach.

Geoff. Who was the "we" you mentioned?

Thanks again and God Bless,

A Learner

A Learner,

Actually, I would like to thank you for bringing up ACIM for discussion. It forced me to revisit it. I was much surprised to find that the material that was over my head 4 years ago, now makes perfect sense . I guess I must have grown spiritually. It's given me a much needed boost. Thanks too for encouraging me to post on this forum. It's wonderful to find so many like-minded spiritual folk. The Correcting Time must be really taking off!
Many blessings to you.

Geoff,

Thank you too, for telling me about JCIM. I found it on line and ordered it. I'm looking forward to exploring it. Michael has been spending a lot of time with me recently. In fact, he woke me up at 3:33AM last night to chat. I'm sure these things are interrelated somehow. Thanks for the nudge.

Isn't it amazing how we are all so interconnected!!! (and I don't mean by just the internet)

Dear A Learner,
Geoff. Who was the "we" you mentioned?
There are a group of folks who follow Padgett, and once a year they trance channel Jesus at a retreat for about an hour or so, and he will answer questions put by folks present. This was one such question, and he rather unusually ducked answering by laughing and commenting he seems to be popular. But within that group the concept of a Thought Adjuster is not known, so that would have made it impossible to answer.

love,
Geoff.

Thanks Geoff,

I've read a number of the Padgett papers. Very good reading too. Consistent in most respects with what I'm learning. I've saved several, for personnel reasons on my hard drive, and refer to them occasionally.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm puzzled that Jesus would avoid answering a direct question with a laugh, but having not been there or able to know the context and situation in which this occured, I'm sure there was a good reason.

Too bad abought them not being aware of the teaching of the Thought Adjuster. That is one of the GREAT things that I hold so dear right now.

Later Bro,
God Bless

Dear Petra,

I found it on Amazon.com. They had 8 used copies from various venders for around $5.00 (US). All seemed to ship from CA. Hope this helps. If you have problems let me know. I'll be glad to send you mine when I'm done reading it.

Many Blessings to you, forget-me-not

Are you still interested in talking about A Course in Miracles? Are you still reading it?

I was a student of ACIM for 18 months before the Padgett messages arrived and steered me in another direction. And now I am here, the 11:11 Message Board.

I might have a different take on the Course because of my longer experience with it. By the way, if you are still reading it and are interested, a fantastic book to read is called, The Disappearance of the Universe, by Gary Renard. Gary's book is what got me started to read the Course. It is a great introduction to the Course, and I would highly recommend reading it.

Peace and Love,

Joseph

Joseph,

To be honest, I'm still in the process of reading ACIM. I too am steered in other directions and find days and sometime weeks before I get back in the habit of nightly reading of ACIM. I have been trying to also stay connected to the TA messages in "The Guiding Light Within" that George has made available here.

I am interested in a discussion on ACIM. My world is a bit upside down right now as a result of a move for my wife and I from California to southern Texas in the next two weeks. My internet access is spotty with having moved out today but I will check for your reply as soon as I can.

As for " a different take", I'm sure it is different for each reader. I wouldn't think there are any two who will see it from the same perspective, however it has been a positive influence on my life none the less.

Thanks for the info on the book. I'll check it out when things slow down for me after the move.

God Bless,

PS : Welcome to the board !!:!!

A Learner...

Thank you the welcome to the Board and response to my post. I consider myself "a learner" also. Sometimes (but not usually) I envy folks who hit a certain spiritual path and stick with it their entire life. It appears my main spiritual path is "learning", thus, I tend to hop a lot from this and that particular pathway.

While reading DU (Disappearance of the Universe) and ACIM I thought I already was on a solid path...but I liked what DU and ACIM was saying that I stayed with it for 18 months. Then the Padgett messages about the Divine Love of the Father arrived unexpectedly on my path and I immediately took to that message and dropped ACIM. Now recently I have come to find out about this Message Board (although the 11:11 prompts were around me much longer). Yesterday I ordered George's Akashic CD; we will see where this will lead next. [BTW I am 71 and still learning!!!]

Texas bound, eh? I am in Arizona and there is a remote possibility that we will move to Austin. I have a daughter up in Wichita Falls.

Peace and love to you bro,

Joseph

All that I really want is peace. ACIM

Would you rather be right or happy? ACIM

Hello,
I have read the ACIM twice now, but had some issues understanding exactly how to go about living in this world & being one with God, or how & why we would separate from Him in the first place. I was just recently in the last couple of weeks, guided to read "Disappearance of the Universe," this book helped a great deal. It was an answer to the many questions that I had floating around in my mind. It seemed if I would think of a question, I would read it within the next couple of pages. The ACIM also worked in this manner. I think what the course has taught me the most, is to be non-judgemental with anything or anyone in any situation! It has proven to be most helpful for me on my path to enlightment! I have not tried the lessons in the course, but after reading "Disappearance of the Universe," I think I am ready to start now.

With Much Love,
Sherry

Joseph and Pennysence,

Well, here I find myself in hot and humid south Texas. I've had an opportunity to read and digest "Disappearance of the Universe" and you are both correct. A very interesting book and it was very helpful in my understanding of ACIM. I've become open to many new ways of looking at my physical life here as a result.

Dealing with my new view of "ego", and it's influence on spirit growth has been very helpful. I'm now reading " A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle that has begun to blend well in many respects with both ACIM and DU. I will begin the ACIM lessons as well.

If you would like to discuss any of this further please pm me. Thanks

A little update.

I finished "A Course in Miracles" text, (669 pages) on 10/12/06, having purchased it on 12/14/05. It was my goal to complete it in one year. I felt glad to do that. It has truely been a wonderful experience in "thought adjustment" to look at life and the earthly experience in a new and enlightening way. I've started the 365 daily lessons from the Workbook for Students in ACIM and will re-visit here again when I have completed that goal.

These 365 Lessons seem important to Learn. I will be reading lessons from "A Guiding Light Within" at the same time.

Those who have begun this journey of "Learning", with the help of Celestial influence and the promptings of Angels to remind us to Progress in our influence and healing, have taken on a worthy task.

May God continue to bless us on this experiential journey.

God Bless My 11:11 Family,

Hello Brother,

It was your inspiration that motivated me to revisit ACIM back in April. I'm nearly through with the text and have also found it to be an excellent corollary to my daily mediations. It has opened the door to a deeper understanding of the inner workings of my soul. Thanks for the incentive and for the gift of friendship.

God Bless, FMN

Hi all,

I'm slowly making progress but I keep slipping into "stillness" when I'm reading..I cannot help it, it just happens automatically. At this rate it'll take me forever to finish.

I too have read 'The Disappearance of the Universe' by Gary Renard

I read Gary's book a couple of months ago and then immediately picked up ACIM again. I had bought ACIM a year ago and didn't take to it at all. However, after reading Gary's book it really helped me understand what ACIM is about. I'm not saying I do the exercises in ACIM on a daily basis but I do try every day to change my perception of events and to practice forgiveness. I think the fact that Gary's book is about a visitation over a period of 10 years by two ascended masters (or angels) was what tweaked my interest in reading it.

Hi Everyone,

I too have read the ACIM and am now on the second read of it. I have gone through the lessons. I found it simple and to the point, which I love. Yes, some things leave me with questions which I give to prayer and one by one they clear up for me. I got the book online, used. I want to get the JCIM that Geoff speaks of. I got the ACIM after reading Geoffs comments in various posts on different threads. It is definitely a keeper.

Hello,

I've been trying to locate a copy of the JCIM...no luck yet. :?

With the exercises in the ACIM, I look for one that resonates with me at that time, it has made a deep impact on my life and "Disappearance of the Universe" too..

Jennifer,
