Who was the author of the Ubook?
There is soooooo much information in it and its was definitely given from a divine source
so do we know who channeled the information and who wrote it?

Dear Ofek,

There are two questions here. One is: Who was the author, or source, and two is who was the human conduit.

The source author (celestial) is identified at the end of every paper.

The human conduit has never been identified, and that is the reason that ultimately the Foundation lost their copyright. They needed to show the human conduit had passed copyright to them, and they could not, or, were not allowed to, if they had to keep secret his identity.

There are some good books based on what happened, and Saskia Praamsma has published the Sherman Diaries. But even these don't identify the person. I gather it was male, was totally disinterested in spiritual stuff, delivered this stuff while asleep, either by talking in his sleep, or writing in his sleep. Some assume it was one of the Kellogg family. The Urantia Foundation was at great pains to claim (state) it was not a product of mediumship. From my POV, that's a laugh.

love,
Geoff

It is now possible to get the Urantia Book in e-book format, for FREE. I downloaded it in epub format from here,

http://www.urantia.org/en/urantia-book/ ... antia-book

and converted it using Calibre (also free) into mobi format, and its now on my Kindle.

They have done an excellent job of putting into e-book format. I am very impressed.

Geoff

Hi All :hithere (Geoff - I FINALLY made it here!)

I followed Sandy's suggestion and started with the Jesus papers. I just finished "Paper 120". This is the first time I could comprehend anything I've tried to read in this book! (A wee bit thick in the skull!) Amazingly I only have one question...and a trivial one at that!

What are the "Ancients of Days"?

LOVE!!!!
Sammy

GREAT news, Sammy! Keep plodding along and words and phrases and ideas and concepts will begin to fall into place. Just don't rush lest you get lost in the wordage rather than comprehending what's being said.

Dear Sammy,

Doubtless you could get a better answer, but they seem to be like the Highest Court of Appeal. Just before the Big Guy. Who has retired from giving judgements.

Now, see? That wasn't so hard to do! They're the Big Guns before the Cannon! Much easier to undestand. :D

Ok...done with 121 and 122. AND no questions! :bana:

I am finding it very interesting. Well, I found paper 122 interesting...history type text never sticks in my brain...the facts about the culture and religion, well my eyes glaze over. But reading about Mary and Joseph and the birth of Jesus was interesting in that it matches up (basically) with what I learned in church, except for his date of birth. It is very easy to understand that things like the three "wise men" following the north star came from legend. I think about how a simple discussion among friends can turn into a major melodrama after a couple of phone calls!

On to 123!

LOVE!!!!

Ah, Sammy! I am so glad you're enjoying reading the Urantia Book. Trust me, in time as you become accustomed to the verbage and gain confidence in your ability to comprehend what is being written, you will become curious about other aspects of the book -- and then you're running for home base!

Hi All!

I've finished papers 123 and 124. I've rather enjoyed reading how Jesus questioned everything that didn't feel true to him. I wonder, is this a description of the TA at work?

I'm starting to dabble in the book a bit...there's so much reading I've come across recently. It does seem like another awakening is taking place within me. Some of what I've read in the Urantia book makes perfect sense, some is so out there for me I can't discern it yet. But it's a cool adventure.

Dear Sammy,

Sometimes that would be true, but mostly for "us" it's the direct effect of the Spirit of Truth upon the soul. As the "Spirit of Truth" was bestowed upon us by Michael, I am not sure exactly how Jesus discerned Truth. But the soul (ours) has an innate ability to discern truth, whereas the material mind does not. While we know that Jesus had a purely human experience here, none of us know to what extent he was exactly like us, and to what extent he was not. For example we arrive here with baby souls, yet I have a message from Mary to say that her baby Jesus reached out to God while still in the womb. That's not, IMHO, a "baby" soul.

love,
Geoff
